Welcome!
I always do my best to run a friendly game. I want people to have fun and everyone to be able to laugh when something crazy happens.
This is part of a special so it will be critical that we run a fast game.
I really want everyone to be able to post at least once a day, preferably more. If you are going to be away from the game for a short period (such as attending a convention, on a short vacation, or needing to do some business travel), I would ask that you please post that here so everyone involved knows. Please also include a ‘bot me’ spoiler so that it is easier for others to bot you. (See more about this below.)
Below I give some examples for how I like things. I don’t mind variations on what I give, but please do try to include the same sort of information. I request it because it helps me keep the game flowing.
Chronicle information
In order to be able to generate a PFS chronicle, I ask that each character please provide me the following information:
Player name:
Character name:
OPF #:
Character #:
Faction:
Pathfinder training:
Downtime activity with rolls (Usually Earn Income):
If you will be using an Advanced Boon or a Promotional Boon, please let me know which ones. You are limited to one of each.
If you have a boon you will be using that modifies your downtime activity, please note it with the downtime activity.
All other boons can be handled as they come up. If you have a boon that you expect to come into play, I would appreciate being told about it ahead of time.
At the appropriate time, I will ask that you post any items you may receive from Pathfinder Training. That will happen after the game starts.
Character Profiles
Please have a profile header displaying a brief overview of your character's current status. It should include your AC, Saving Throws, Perception, Exploration mode activity, conditions and expendable daily resources.
In the character profile, please include a complete stat block. You may put it under a spoiler if you wish, but if you do please put it under a single spoiler. I prefer not to have to open multiple spoilers when trying to find something.
If you have your character sheet on a different site, please have a link to it in your character’s headers. This allows me to pull it up from any post by the character, rather than having to go to the profile and from there to the external sheet.
You can look in the PbP GM Kit for pregenerated characters done in BB Code and use those as examples.
Botting
Botting is when someone else makes a roll or otherwise does something on behalf of your character. Bot is short for robot.
Please include instructions in your profile and some general tactics in case someone else needs to bot your character. I highly recommend this include the dice expressions used for common actions. It is alright if you put this in a separate spoiler from the stat block, but once again please don't split it over multiple spoilers.
If there are resources you don’t mind being used up by botting, please say so. If there are resources you never want someone using, it is alright to say that as well.
If it makes you more comfortable, you could specify who you want to run your character when you can’t post.
If your character has any reactions, I ask that you have something in your Botting instructions about when you want this used. It is alright if you make it a separate section under a different spoiler provided you make it clear what it is. If it requires a roll, please have the dice expression there as well. The reason is that it can really slow down a PbP if you need to serialize actions between multiple people.
In my experience, creating a bot structure can help with your own posts as well. Assuming you put complete dice expressions in the botting directions, it makes it easy to cut and paste.
Criticals
In PF2 the determination of when something is a critical is based on exceeding the target difficulty by ten. Any strike that exceeds the enemy Armor Class ( AC) by ten is a critical hit.
Normally you will not instantly know the enemy AC. If you have something special that happens on a critical (such as a weapon with the Deadly trait), I would prefer that you also provide the critical effect as well. Generally this would be done as additional damage.
Mister Oakleaf shoots at the groo.
Composite Shortbow: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (11) + 10 = 21 Range 60’, Propulsive, Deadly
Cold Iron Piercing: 1d6 ⇒ 6
If crit, add Deadly: 1d10 ⇒ 8Axel Miner swings at the groo.
Light Pick: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (7) + 10 = 17 Agile, Fatal d10
Piercing damage: 1d4 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 = 7
If crit, replace with fatal: 2d10 + 4 ⇒ (5, 1) + 4 = 10
Initiative in PbP
I will roll all Initiative checks for PCs and NPCs, sort them, and organize them into blocks. I will use your exploration activity to determine which skill to use in Initiative. I will bold the names of characters that should act. I will take the NPC actions in order and reserve the right to delay an NPC in order to make them act with a group of other NPCs.
When it is your turn to act, please post. Do not wait for someone else to post just because they had a higher Initiative. If you know what you want to do but want to wait for someone else’s action to go off first, just say that.
Here is an example of how you could post before another player but have it go off after another player:
Sir Cumference waits for the elven archer Mister Oakleaf to get done firing his arrow before charging the Wily Snark.
Attack with Pointy Stick: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (14) + 2 = 16
Piercing Damage: 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6
I (and many other PbP GMs) do grouped Initiative in order to keep the adventure moving. In PbP people will have different posting schedules and often live in different time zones. Waiting for posts in initiative order could make a single round of combat take days to resolve.
Within the rules, it is as if everyone within the same Initiative block delayed until they could post.
Rules Questions
If there are rules questions, please post them in the discussion thread rather than interrupting the gameplay thread with rules debates.
In closing
Come join me for a fun game!

Just wanting to chime in that I am here. I have a variety of characters I could bring (the champion I listed in the sign up documents, a 2nd level battle medicine heavy investigator, a 2nd level draconic sorcerer, a 1st level mastermind rouge and maybe, if we finish up the scenario soon, a 1st level primal witch.) I was waiting to see how the party shaped up before deciding on one of them. Though if Redd is going to play at this table then I should probably bring Symeon, my investigator, to play with her again.

It has started!
Feel free to ask questions here. Let's try to keep the gameplay thread to things happening in game.
Also note in the first few slides I have placed the Aid Tokens and a place to put your avatars along with basic character information. Fill that information in as you have time. None of it is critical to the preparation tasks.

![]() |

Redd is taking a lesser antiplague and a lesser alchemist fire.
A table on the slides would be very helpful. I use only my phone for PbP and travel a lot during the week.

Added a slide to track it, slide 12. Let me know if that will work for people. I'm willing to adapt to what people want here.
Since the bonus from Mapping is group wide, there is no reason to individually track that.
Once we get to the main part of the adventure, we can move the active map and the resource tracking slides up towards the top.

![]() |

I'd appreciate the slide as well. Keeps tracking this much easier.

![]() |

I apologize for the sparse posts in gameplay. I'll do better when conditions here improve. I just did a bit of crit fishing on the missing checks to try to keep gameplay moving.

![]() |

Tracking slide is awesome. These things are hard enough to keep track of face to face. :)
Thanks!
Hey Meadow, good to be playing with you again. Hope the weather improves for you and your power situation!
(I remember we played together once or twice with me playing Grog, the brewer/ goblin champion)

GM Bret |

Feel free to talk amongst yourselves.
Everyone has at least 1 hero point. If you have a GM glyph and haven't noted it on Slide 3 please do so. Looks like most of you have already updated slides 3-4 with your information and marching order which will help me keep things rolling.
Part 1 is scheduled to start Feb 18th, 0 UTC.
That is late evening for me on a night that I am hosting a set of online VTT games. I will try to move things forward that night after the games, but it will likely be a few hours after the Overseer announces it.

![]() |

I still have no internet and rolling blackouts at home but I managed to borrow a cup of wifi at work. I doubt things will be back to normal before the weekend. I'll post when I can.

About the 6 possible encounters:
Do we have a time limit on each one? I.e. we start Encounter A, work on that, say, 'til Saturday, then move on to Encounter B when we're told to by the Overseer GM?
Or, do we start going through them all now (A, then B, then C...) until we're told to stop and move on to the next chapter?

The only time limit from me is for the whole of Part 1. Your pace for the encounters within that are up to you and your GM.

As GM Dennis said, there is only a time limit for the whole of Part 1, which is scheduled to end after 20 days (March 10th).
The more that we complete, the more likely the whole event goes well. It takes multiple tables completing the same section to close a section off. Each time that happens, the house gives an update that makes it slightly easier for everyone to complete tasks.
You are free to choose what order you take them in, but all you really have to go on is the name.

Aid Tokens
Aid Tokens work a little bit differently for this special.
Each table starts out with four aid tokens, I believe it is supposed to be one of each type. They can boost them and pass them on to another table.
A table may never use their own aid tokens, the tokens represent help you give to another party.
It takes no actions to boost an Aid Token. One person may attempt to boost it, after that it is passed along.
I would heavily encourage someone to boost the Allied Offensive token so we can pass that along quickly. Boosting the Provide Knowledge token early can also help. Boosting the Healing token can probably wait a little bit, hopefully there are no tables in need of it yet.
I have moved the Aid Token reference to Slide 3. There you will find instructions on how you can boost it. Once boosted, I can pass it along to another table.
Sending out Aid Tokens helps another table finish the content. Them sending one to us will help you finish the content. Hopefully there will be lots of Aid Tokens going around.
Thanks!

GM Bret |

Only one attempt to boost on each token, I don't think others can even aid.
Yes, your attempt Eltis would be a failure.
...and it seems we had multiple people trying at about the same time.
I will just let Krik be the one who boosted. Hopefully we do not have too many instances of ninja'ed boost attempts.

![]() |

Symeon, you should try boosting that Provide Knowledge.

GM Bret |

Just got some clarification on the Aid Tokens.
Each table gets one of each type to pass, and that's it for the scenario. You should pass one in each section (Intro, Part 1, Part 2, Part 3), and it's up to you which you pass during which section. I don't think there's any limit to how many/which type a table can receive, and there's explicitly no limit to how many a table can use. I may make a tracking sheet after the first round of passing is complete, to make it more clear who has received what so far.
So we are treating the first Allied Offensive as happening during the Intro.
Go ahead and boost the Provide Knowledge if you want. We need to pass another token sometime before March. If you boost it early, I can ask who needs it before passing it to another table.

GM Bret |

I've fixed the map. The map is split across two images and it looks like you accidentally deleted half of it.
Meadow you also have the option of one lesser acid flask, lesser alchemist's fire, lesser bottled lightning, or lesser frost vial.
Eltis and Krek should select what sort of low grade cold iron ammunition they want. I am fine with people just handing it off to someone else in the group.

![]() |

Symeon will hold onto his arrow, cause he can save it for a Devise a Strategem critical, but someone can readily have his alchemist's fire.

![]() |

I do have that Thoughtful Gift spell and may be sending my arrow or a consumable with it later on if needed.

Hooray! Internet AND electricity. I finally get to post and watch Wandovision.
Also thanks for the arrows and who wants my lesser bottled lightning?
Also also, I can't tell what the bad guy looks like. Can we get a description?

![]() |

I copy & pasted a pic of the monster in the sidebar on the slide. I couldn't see it either.

![]() |

Darn it. I was cheating myself out of a point of Nature. It should have been +6 instead of +5. That'll teach me to not rely on memory instead of double checking my character sheet.

![]() |

I agree. Down the line.

![]() |

Wait!
Redd has Inspire Competence. I've never used it yet and don't really understand how it works in 2e, but, it might be handy against these snakes since we're doing skill checks.
Redd is the type that likes to diplomacize or intimidate her way out of a jam. (Kender Halflings, anyone? Although Redd is more "cute" and not prone to violence).
