Intimidation (Demoralize): 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (8) + 6 = 14 vs Belen Will DC

Note: If Demoralize succeeds, the target is frightened 1 (or 2 on a crit), essentially taking a -1 to AC and all checks (including attacks) until the end of their next turn.

She'd noticed that Belen hadn't targeted any critical body parts with her strikes, which Mimi had very much appreciated. It meant that she would not have to kill Belen today. She wished the girl a long life and hoped she would survive her little rebellion.

Action 2 (◆): Confident Finisher (Rapier) Nonlethal with Panache & Precise Strike vs Belen

Rapier: 1d20 + 7 - 2 ⇒ (20) + 7 - 2 = 25 vs Belen
Rapier Damage: 1d6 + 1 + 2d6 ⇒ (1) + 1 + (1, 4) = 7 nonlethal piercing

Crit! Add the following precision damage

Rapier Deadly D8: 1d8 ⇒ 3 piercing damage

Great attack roll; terrible damage rolls. Still, that's 17 hp of damage, so I'm going to assume that knocks her out (or we're in way more trouble than we think). If not, then I'll redo my last action.

Mimi darts forward. She deftly uses the end of her rapier to knock Belen's shortsword to one side and then slides the point through the rebel's shoulder, shattering her scapula. It wouldn't kill her, but it would be very painful. Belen's eyes open wide in surprise as she watches the blade go it. When Mimi quickly pulls it out, the shock of the pain is such that her eyes roll up into her head and she slumps to the ground unconscious. "A pity really," she thinks, but her eyes are already scanning the field for her next opponent.

She sees Chops threatening to cleave Hornietelle's head open, but figures the elf would take care of the man in her own special way before it came to that. Mimi was far more concerned about Clem, as she thought she'd seen him going down to a sneak attack through the fire. She did not think this was altogether a bad thing, as it did finally manage to shut the old man up; something no one had managed to do up until now. But it also had the effect of freeing up one... no two, rebels to attack her already fully engaged companions. It would be best if she could keep at least one, if not both of these particular rebels otherwise occupied.

She turns toward Jezebelle, and calling out, "Keep your 'ands off 'eem you rebelle scum," she sprints at her, slides through the woman's legs like a baseball player coming home, and springs to her feet behind her. Turning to face her new opponent with a grace that suggests many years of practice, she says, "Aha! I take eet dat you vere not expecteeng dat you femme fatale."

Action 3 (◆): Tumble Through vs Jezebelle. (30 feet)
Acrobatics (Tumble Through): 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (12) + 7 = 19 vs Jezebelle Reflex DC

Assuming Jezebelle's Reflex is less that +10, Mimi should now have her Panache back again.

All the fighting seems to stop for the moment.

Someone yells out "Now that was uncalled for..." Indeed, barely able to see it coming, Belen cries out in pain and collapses, her aggressor dashing across the court. For that moment, all eyes are on Belen lying on the ground - perhaps "gone the way of Raike" for real this time...

The brawl was officially no longer "funny"!

Downcourse, Brimley, sustaining the minorest of scrapes, responds with a glancing jab to the cheek - causing Gustavo to nearly spin in a circle, and retorts "Well - the Next Man is Here for you!" stowing his own sword (Next action!) and putting up his own dukes, ready "Let's settle this as Nature Intended!" as their little "section" of the brawl erupts into fisticuffs!

The People's Rebellion Rebukes Foreign Counter-Revolutionaries! (Round Two)

Hornietelle's words are less emasculating than her actions. Evading her pursuer, she cracks her whip and grounds him like a simple dog.

But just as he opens his mouth to speak, Valdris's magical assault - split across him and Mildred - kills them both - the former's heart stopped with the force jolt after already being beaten brutally, the latter with a hundred burning embers from the fire flaying his skin, causing his body to crash forward as he screams horribly and dies (Critical Hit).

There is a second pause in the action - all eyes move from Chops to Gustavo, who yells "Chops is slain - Long Live Chops!" to which the Call-and-Response is a collective "Long Live Chops!" and with this, the Rebellion assumes new Leadership - and Gustavo demonstrates by example!

A lull here.

Perhaps Duncan is just warming up? Perhaps he wants a fair fight?

Whatever the case, the swordplay he displays is little more than that - play - as he allows Mjolnurd to parry his thrusts with feigned effort.

It goes to Mjolnurd's head! "Ah Ha HA!!" he bellows as two powerful strokes that might have killed him outright are deflected left then right "We shall See who comes out on Top!" boasting before he counters trebly:

Clem feels... weightless, floating, existing in a space that can only be described as definitely not where he was before (Clem always did have a knack for clarity).

He opens his eyes and sees nothing. He looks left, nothing. Right, nothing. Then he hears it, a soft, almost non-existent whisper. "You're almost there."

Clem looked all around, realizing that up was still an option available to him! And what did he see but the smiling skull of his lord and master, the God of the End Times, the Harbinger of Last Days, Groetus! It was now that Clem noticed that he was part of a stream of people floating gently towards the moonlet; many tried in vain to claw their way against the pull but Clem knew their energy was wasted. He chuckled when he noticed the others were floating slower than him, his efforts had been noticed! His End would come before theirs, his reward that of not being forced to witness the destruction of all things!

But, what was that smell? It's vaguely... bean-like? "Groetus cares not for beans, what is the meaning of this?!"

And like that, it was over. The weight of his body returned, the sound of steel clashing against steel ringing in his ears. "Oh bother" Clem thought to himself. It seems today was not his day after all.

Mimi opens her eyes and seeing the sneaky rebel looming over her, realizes what happened. "This blackguard struck me down from behind. I will have to reward him for his effrontery." But before she can react, the rogue takes off running.

She quickly grabs her weapons and jumps to her feet, but the rebel has disappeared into the night. "Damn and blast him to hell," she thinks and whirls around to face Jezebelle. Mimi is about to run her through when she notices the raised hands. A tense moment passes as she considers her options, but eventually drops the point of her rapier.

Hornietelle sees that all her compatriots are at least walking around, even if they may not be in 'good' health. She, instead searches the body of Chops, to find any evidence of this rebel group he belongs to.

Once the body has been searched, she turns her attention to the injured in the party, as she uses her eleven ways to stroke away the pain and bring relief. Mimi pauses and looks at the pile of weapons and armor. "I do not know about dat, Duncan. Dey might be vorth a leetel on de open market, but I do not know if dragging all dees stuff back to Artume ees vorth de return."

By my calculations (and ignoring the torches) it all adds up to 369sp worth (which would net us about 185sp). The problem is that the combined weigh of it all is 13.1 Bulk, so we'll likely all end up encumbered on the way back to Artume. From a metagamey point of view, I suspect that the assorted coins and gems we found in the barn is the treasure bundle associated with this encounter, so these weapons and armor probably aren't worth messing with. Then again, if Duncan insists on dragging them back to town, Mimi will shrug and do her bit. She has about 6 more Bulk of available carrying capacity.

The Busy Docks of Artume (Part Five)

The party discusses. Valdris seems to think getting some rest would be best, given that the party has been going for nearly 24 hours straight. Mimi seems to think that staying at the River Steed Inn and getting in contact with Smine (perhaps in the morning) - if for no other reason than to offload the heavy arms they've taken! - seems like the best idea. Hornietelle seems to think that the party should check out the place indicated on the note confiscated from Chops.

And so, the party continues to discuss...
