Celister's first, well-placed blow drops the fey.
With the mushroom ring disabled and the fey felled, you have ensured that the Thorned Monarch can no longer use it to bring in extra reinforcements from the First World.
Success!
As you return to the main caravan of Pathfinders, you are met by Venture-Captain Bjersig Torrsen. The half-orc nods approvingly, an acknowledgement of your success and the small relief that you have brought to the expedition. He hands you a series of maps, indicating the remaining route.
First of the remaining maps can be found here with the others below it.
Khoumrock Blackthane points to one of the maps you were just given. It clearly corresponds to the area ahead. The sound of rushing water confirms that there is a river ahead as indicated on the map.
Picture of map.
The dwarf puts a finger to his lips and then speaks quietly. “There’s things here that aren’t what they seem. Some of those fey are real tricky...looking like things they aren’t. Don’t trust your eyes. Go see what we are dealing with. "
You find a suitable place to cross the river. Upon reaching the other side, you spot a pair of animals. Downstream , a beautiful, healthy horse stands in the rolling waters, struggling against the current. Up ahead, a prairie owl and hoots mournfully, its talon caught in a trap.
Map of area now revealed on Slides.

Prairie owls as so called because they prefer to hunt open prairies and marshes. Unlike most owls, they hunt during the day and nest on the ground. Because of their diurnal habits and penchant for wide open spaces, they're more easily observed than their woodland dwelling cousins.

Celister sees that the horse is a fine swimmer, appearing quite at home in the water.
Token moved on map.Helga and Farryn recall that horses can swim, their huge lungs adding to their buoyancy. A number are quite proficient, though there a few that can’t get the hang of it. This steed, however, seems unusually proficient at swimming and a little too at home in the water. You also recall some stories of malevolent amphibious fey shapechangers intent on luring mortals to their doom.

Because of their diurnal habits and penchant for wide open spaces, they're more easily observed than their woodland dwelling cousins. This prairie owl is out of place. The prairie owl is not acting much akin to the horse beyond each being an animal in distress. Nina also recalls that shape-shifting fey can be found in many parts of the world, particularly where the boundaries between the Material Plane and the First World have worn thin, or around portals between the two planes.
The prairie owl turns its head nearly 180 degrees, watching the party change direction and head towards the horse. Seemingly annoyed, the bird wrestles easily from the snare on its leg and takes flight and lands several feet form the halfling.
Upon landing, the creature changes form into a creature clothed in verdant lichen and flowers of broom, meadow, sweet, and oak. Its skin resembles velvety moss and it has living grass for hair.
