Torin Janzi |
Janzi has been feverishly arguing with Munro since the aqlath moved on. What do you mean, "it just didn't record?" How can you miss such a poignant moment as that, where they found their history and might no longer be extinct? Hmm? Oh, it's not working right? Well, fix it, that's what I pay you fNO YOU'RE NOT ASKING HACK-IT FOR HELP, THAT'S LIKE ASKING A VOGON FOR A LIFT OR A SIVV FOR SOME MERCY!
Eventually Janzi makes his way back to the group, muttering to himself about the help.

Take 10 on Perception for 44.

The sounds of the sivv language make it through the door. Sounds like two voices. A fair bit of background noise make it difficult to parse any more.
Game Master S |
Tired of ....all this, Booker just kicks in the door.
A wide alcove across from this room’s only door ends at a smooth, rounded wall with several metallic disks, each about two feet in diameter. Wires from each of these disks lead into an array of computers and testing equipment.
The sivv warmaster is speaking with a moon giant. The conversation isn't at all confrontational. As the door opens, both of them turn for a fight.

Hack-It and Hum catchup, taking a peek through the door. "Right, more of this. I guess we kill these ones too."

PF2 style Hero Point to Dunk.
It looks like they were feeding security cam footage of your combats in space and on the ship to the main AI! You could let it continue, stop it... or mess with it...
Meanwhile Booker looks around. One of the experiments involved improved planar travel. Although the experiment never got off the ground, the long-dead scientist collected some necessary materials for it, including a transposition key and a pair of quantum boxes.
Booker Broadshaw |
After collecting the items, Booker wanders over to the computer, cigarette in hand. He leans over Gig's shoulder, close enough that the acrid wisps cause the ysoki's whiskers to twitch.
"A vid feed, huh?" Booker grunts. He stares at the screen for a moment.
"Give us all raging battle-boners."
He takes a puff. "I'm talkin' how do they even manage to walk level bulges."
Hack-It |
"Sure, why not?" Hack-It says, agreeing with Booker. "Whatever you do, make us look good. But I think it'd be appropriate if we suddenly were also the opposites of ourselves. Give me a big energy sword and make it look like I cut people up with it by getting close to people."
Booker Broadshaw |
"What, you mean like if Janzi could shut up for a whole minute, and Hack-It was suddenly a good person?" Booker jokes.
"But nah, just leave the AI in the dark. Cut the feed. Let's not give it intel."
Hack-It |
"Sure thing. Just give me a bit,"" Hack-It says, proceeding to do exactly what he wants to do. He ensures that any audio capture of Booker speaking is an octave higher, that the soldiers aim is wildly inaccurate, and that there are visible bursts of noxious gas that come from Booker's ass.
He also augments the others to varying degrees of flattery. Dunk ends up being a frightening goliath four times his size, Janzi a mute whose powers manifest from his assistant Monroe, and he turns Gig into a walking mechanized drum set. For himself, he simply erases himself from the feed, leaving Hum. "There. Done."
Per Slack, we're going with the 'mess with it' route
Game Master S |
AI upload messed with, and treasure (transposition key and quantum boxes) the party continues their push to the core.
Torin Janzi |
When Hack-It is finally done playing around, Janzi yanks a visscreen off the mount and hands it to Dunk. For the next time you get angry, he says, motioning to Munro to pan the room and falling into step behind Booker.
Game Master S |
A device resembling a large telescope is embedded in the wall opposite this room’s only door. It has a large, translucent helmet rather than an eyepiece. A few supply cabinets stand against the walls to either side of it.
Hack-It |
Hack-It puts the helmet on, mostly so that he does it before Gig does. He takes a look at what the telescope is showing.
Booker Broadshaw |
"Great, that'll scramble his brains even more now." Booker chuckles. "Wait, hang on. You can't make scrambled wit'out eggs. Nevermind."
Booker goes to check out the cabinets. Perception: 1d20 + 22 ⇒ (1) + 22 = 23
Gig Razorbyte |
Gig looks over at Hack and observes if the helmet does anything to the Ysoki or if he overlooked any traps.
Perception: 1d20 + 20 ⇒ (20) + 20 = 40
Torin Janzi |
Janzi yanks Munro over and ensures he takes a long shot of Hack-It in the oversized helm, at the least-flattering angles possible and for maximum ignominy — which might work, if the Ysoki had any shame whatsoever. No, no, closer in, make sure you get his entire head.
Game Master S |
Hack-it wins the race:
Booker looks around. The supply cabinets contain an array of materials used to maintain and repair the observation scope. None of it is useful to you.
Gig finds no traps whatsoever.

Gig Razorbyte |
”I thought you were looking at some hot chicks the way you were hogging the headset. But no. It’s just more Sivv!”
As Gig looks through the telescope himself, he ponders out loud, ”Why do you think that little one has two bodyguards? Do you think he is scheming something naughty? And what is that thing doing trying to mimick him? I wonder if he knows that he is being watched?”
