Any quickness or impatience Kahwen has leading up to getting to the villa disappears as he arrives.

He stops far enough away that they won't be noticed.

"What is our plan? I'm assuming sneaking in isn't an option for all of us. At least not without magic. Should we try to bluff, instead? I can probably get around unnoticed by myself, but if things...when things go wrong, I'd like some people around to help me deal with it."

GM, is there anyone in Calhadion’s family in their early twenties? It could be a child, nephew, niece, much younger sibling...? Myvanwe Jadrine Keostella Hetherington is from a noble family so she could know. Or maybe get a circumstance bonus if you want her to roll?

Wembly figures he can go invis for a short time or might be able to double as a halfling gardener in a pinch if longer durations needed.

”We can try disguises, but like getting into a position to actually see something interesting will be the trick. “

We should be fine to walk in as we are. In fact, if we act like we know where we're going we may be able to bypass lighter security areas. If we do get stopped Mivvy or I can probably talk our way out it.

Evermore peeps up, "I...I can...I can help disguise myself if you want. AND i can help do some foundation for your own disguises. I...I am quite good at... letting the darkness devour... using darkness to recreate ones image." He pauses for a moment, "What, what do we want to look like?"

I can disguiseself + alter self if need be, also a +16 to the skill check so i can help do people's disguises if we want.

@Mivvy Although he might have an appropriate female relative, you are unfortunately unaware of any details.

Just need someone to second a plan and we can go with it. Sneak in, disguises or bluff seem to be the options so far.

”Perhaps a bit of both?” Matrialda suggests, frowning and looking as if the words coming from her mouth were sour as lemons. ”Disguise ourselves to avoid as many questions as possible, and let our two silver tongues talk us out of any questions we can’t avoid. Even though I’m certain that no one here would ever stoop to lying.”

After your preparations are complete, you move to the front gate. One of the halfling workers spots you and lays his rake down. He moves to the gate, hand outstretched, ready to open the release.

"More visitors? I suppose you wish to see the Chamberlain, then?"

Cassandra, can you try a knowledge (nobility) check to identify a wayward noble from the family whose name we might drop?

The halfling gardener shrugs and opens the gate. This open courtyard of the estate has several well-trimmed rose bushes and a sizable pool filled with exotic fish that dance in the Taldan sun. He leads you into the main house, holding the door for you to all enter, then retreating meekly as a tall Garundi woman turns to greet you. New pic

"Ah, well... hello. May I introduce myself? I am Chamberlain Ionnia Eckhart." She opens her arms wide to greet you "Welcome to the Vernisant estate. I'm afraid I don't have you listed on my calendar, may I ask what business you have with us?"

Lavish rugs and velvet couches fill this large, square entry chamber. Sturdy oak doors open to the north, and curtains cover adjoining hallways to the east and west that lead off into separate areas of the villa. A central brazier burns with magical fire, filling the room with cheerful light. Two statues of mounted Taldan knights in the southern corners of the room complete the furnishings.

Wembly waves at the halfling gardener and smiles alot, trying to keep from saying anything.

Good afternoon, Chamberlain. I am Cassandra Vitae. These are my companions; Mivvy, Wembly, Martrialda, Evermore, and Kahwen. We apologize if we interrupted anything. We were actually looking for Denaria. My friend and I had met her some time ago and thought we could take a moment to reconnect while we were in town.

Cassandra gestures to Mivvy as she speaks.

"Walking right through the front gate? Interesting," Kahwen comments as they settle on a plan.

He keeps to the back of the group and quiet. When his name is mentioned, he jerks and pays attention, giving the chamberlain a slight nod.

His attention then immediately goes back to scanning the room. It is easy to believe he's simply curious about the opulence in the chamber but, in truth, he is looking for an opportunity to slip away.

”Oh, yes, Danaria is such a good sport and well, what did she say? That line? ‘Always a pleasure: never a chore!’ I just loved her. Loved her!”

Then Mivvy turns back to the chamberlain, ”We’re to meet her here. She absolutely guaranteed a jolly riotous bit of fun. And I am thirsty.”

The young woman smiles lazily, ”Ms. Myvanwie Jadrine Keostella Herherington, should you need to announce me.”

Ionnia looks a bit puzzled at the request to see Denaria.

"It has been a while since she has graced our presence here. I actually am not sure where she resides currently. My master, Calhadion would know, but unfortunately he is absent from the estate as well. I'm not sure of your timings, but I can certainly book an appointment for you with him sometime in the coming weeks..."

Almost as if summoned by Mivvy's thirst, two halfling servants appear from the side door with trays of treats and refreshments (including a delicious local specialty - yonder tarts).

As this continues, if you wish to ask the chamberlain for any thing specific, add a diplomacy (or bluff) check. Let me know if anyone partakes in the treats as that may affect her reaction as well.

@Kahwen, exiting the room without notice would be quite difficult...

”those do look tasty! I will try one. So is there anyone in the estate at all we could speak with today? It is rather urgent. “

Delicately taking a bite of the offered food, she sighs contentedly before turning her attention back to Ionnia. "You say Master Calhadion is absent as well? So it's only you having to manage this whole estate on your lonesome? Oh my dear, that must be so difficult! How do you manage it?"

When the servant bearing the tray of pastries passes by her seat again, Matrialda takes a few more of the tarts and discretely slips them into her purse.

Cassandra samples some sweets.

How unfortunate. I would have thought a major event like this would be a good time to catch her. A few weeks? Does he have so many visitors? I'm afraid it is unlikely we will remain in the area so long. Is there any way we could meet with him sooner, perhaps a less formal arrangement or maybe we can catch up with him in town? Or maybe you have some time?

Ionnia continues the friendly conversation over the delicious treats for several more minutes. The halflings return with more treats to refresh your plates.

"Well, I am actually the only one in charge at the moment. Frankly its just me and the servants. But I suppose we could look through some of his personal documents in his office safe. Perhaps there would be an indication there as to where Denaria is."

She starts to get up to move to the door, but catches herself on the back of the chair. "Oh my, something is wrong..."

Evermore has a curious thought. Why do the servants have swords?

With that, the servants drop their trays and start to draw said swords.

Well, Mivvy asked for drinks so she would have partaken.

Evermore would definately have avoided the refreshments, and kept quiet at the back of the group.

"Eeeep! What is going on? Why did they draw swords!? Shadow, what do we do?" is the only internal thought this terrified gnome has as he begins to run run run away into the corner of the corner of the room. As he takes a step, his body stops unnaturally and his head arches backwards. No longer is this the face of a frightened gnome, you see the dark features and black eyes of something else rear back at the assailants.

"You should not have done that..." as this thing that was once Evermore casts his mind into orange.
Enter dark half, so i now have damage resistance 5 to1d100 ⇒ 38 cold iron for duration.

Mind Thrust III: 8d8 ⇒ (6, 3, 4, 6, 7, 5, 3, 6) = 40 - DC 23 will save only for half, and they will start to bleed 2.
No surprise round action is fine, he would be too scared! Hehe.

Only Matrialda can relate to Ionnia's feeling of ill. Evermore migrates to his darker form and one of the halfling stalkers feel the full brunt of that and screams in agony. His compatriot tries to poke at Wembley but his nerves get the better of him.

Matrialda coughs and glares at the halfling next to her. Wordlessly she takes her purse and shakes it out over his small form. Pastries, crumbs, old candies, and a surprising amount of lint fall out onto the manservant's head.

Satisfied, the older woman steps away.

Casting glitterdust (Will 18) in cyan spread - unfortunately, she can't get both Red and Orange without also getting Mivvy. If Red fails the save, she'll move next to Ionnia. Otherwise, she'll just take a 5 ft step to the right.

Wembly shakes off the bad tort mojo and steps back from yellow and his pesky sword

”Whoa dude! What did we ever do to you?!? “

He summons (std -SM5) a Bralani and points to yellow.

”Take this flailing halfling gardener imposter down a notch. “

The outsider appears between yellow and Wembly and swings at the halfling

Wembley introduces a friend to the festivities, who proceeds to cut into his prey. Matrialda simply blinds hers.

The mind-scrambled foe gains enough of his senses to tear into Mivvy. The lil' scoundrel laughs maniacally.

Another halfling appears in mid-air next to Evermore, this one with an array of needles and vials stretched across a thick bandolier. His invisibility ends as he thrusts a needle into Evermore's dark skin.

Evermore now takes a –2 penalty on its Will saving throws for several minutes.

Speaking of that, give me a will save Evermore.

Ionnia yells out a command in some ancient language. The two statues start to move then suddenly become inert, their weapons hanging low to their sides.

"What? They were suppose to protect me!" She turns to Matrialda with a pleading look in her eyes. "Now you must, I pray of you!"

Kahwen cocks his head to the side in confusion. Then again as the battle unfolds around him. "We're being attacked!" he suddenly declares as the obvious finally dawns on him.

He draws the long, curved blade from over his shoulder and leaps into action (literally), vaulting onto the sofa, then using his momentum to catch the the yellow halfling unawares.

Slashing plus SA: 1d10 + 11 + 4d6 ⇒ (5) + 11 + (5, 4, 6, 5) = 36

Crit? Plus Racial Trait: 1d20 + 14 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 14 + 3 = 19

Kahwen has the scout archetype and the skirmisher ability so he treats any target as flatfooted when he moves 10' before making an attack. It's negated by uncanny dodge.
If the sneak attack works, the target takes 4 bleed damage and I'm using the disoriented debilitating injury so he takes a -2 to all attack rolls and a -4 to attack rolls vs. Kahwen.

Kahwen's lunging attack is quite successful and the first stalker drops. Cassandra then freezes the needle-master. The blinded halfling stumbles back defensively.

"...you dare touch me..." The wicked form of Evemore shifts as he places his small hands on the halfling above him. "...show me what pain looks like..." Casting excruciating deformation.

As per spell, your touch attack causes your target to become painfully malformed. Its limbs twist and buckle, while its body contorts uncontrollably, shifting and warping...

@Wembly Orange might not be down (no full attack from Mivvy due to drawing weapon), would you want your azata to attack instead?

Try to keep at least one alive to answer questions.

@GM, sorry, I assumed two hits and potential crit would be enough. We can keep azata's actions as is - Mivvy may get bonuses to crit or drop it. No quick draw????

Mivvy is able to draw blood from her foe as she brandishes her rapier. Evermore tries to crumple the halfling floating helpless above him, but his bones do not crack. The azata quietly heals the wounded swashbuckler as Wembly gains resolve.

Clearly suffering, the halfling takes two quick inconsequential stabs at Mivvy before stepping back. The held halfling stares blankly forward as he lowers to Evermore's level.

He runs around the edge of the room, behind the furniture, bobbing and weaving and plows into the next halfling, sword first, using his speed and momentum to catch the man by surprise.

Kahwen shows the Chamberlain how to rush a foe, nearly disemboweling the luckless halfling with his blade. Cassandra can then focus fire on the blinded one, his butler outfit doubly singed. Calling out for any help, he stabs at the only direction he knows, catching Ionnia with a fortunate thrust.
