"Within around 30ft of me, I can improve your fighting skills." The Oread's humility has fallen away, now is a time for truths, not modesty. "It's a rather sizable increase in accuracy, or so I've been told."
[ooc]Pre-haste Abanki gives +6 to hit and damage, and -2 to enemy AC[. Outside that range it's just +2 to hit and damage. If the area has enough plant/animal life for fey performance, make it 60ft./ooc]

Hubristic Efreeti |

Moon grows, approaching with a leer. Out of stark mercury shadows, silver golems march in lockstep; heavy mirrored footsteps challenge the centuries of granite and obsidian.
giving a brief description as I'm getting this rolling again. Silver golems are going to be the first wave of attackers, and I am planning on having the map up tonight

Samen Vloe Firenze |
1 person marked this as a favorite. |

As the golems approach, Samen takes a deep breath of air energy and takes flight into the air.
Using arcana to gain fly speed. Sorry for the last minute buff; it's been ages since there was a fight where it would've been relevant and I forgot I could do it.

Hubristic Efreeti |

Under the dead peaklight, the forces of elenkind rally against a god of dominance and smiles. Priests quickly light torches all along the Temple to complement the radiance of the phoenix above. There is little to hear, save the strained breathing of warriors and the occasional muttered prayer.
Now the golems step out from sharp shadows, dull clanking steps like the march of war. You hear eerie strains of discordant music playing from inside their metal chests, the sound haunting and ugly.
(Ibinu, Sequoya, and Kallik recognize this as the 'music' of moonfolk. Does not seem to have any effect, magical or otherwise.
Round 1 Begins!
All: take actions!
remember the MAP is always linked at the TOP of each page

Which buffs are live? For group buffs, I see bardic performance and haste? For everyone's reference, that's a total of +7 to hit from me (+another two points of AC ding for any baddies within 30ft) and +6 to damage, +the haste bonus
Any luck with the stone shapes, or should we just say that they were narratively useful? Also is there enough plant life around for me to use fey performance? Once I get a verdict, I'll draw a circle that shows where the perform effect is.
"Stand strong! This may be our darkest hour, but if we are courageous and true, we can still triumph! Who of you will stand with me, with the Blessed of Hearth?"
Perform Oratory Just for Fun: 1d20 + 20 ⇒ (13) + 20 = 33
Abnaki stands his ground, and braces his longspear for combat, the fey banner on it blazing in defiance of moon. I would've cast a light cantrip on the spear, but... turns out I didn't grab that one.

Hubristic Efreeti |

Stone shape and other preparations were narratively useful. Those will be adding to big-picture rolls in terms of how the city as a whole is faring.
Yes, there is enough plant life in the area for Fey performance - the recent spring rains have brought forth grasses and dandelions from between many cracks of the granite courtyards

Niamh Emberheart |

Instinctively, Inam knows this will be a battle of hearts just as much as a battle of steel. Holding her greatsword aloft, all her divine might into the flaming phoenix symbol above her, ignoring all danger around her.
Inam is flat-footed and will not be attacking this battle. She will be providing substantial bonuses to city-wide morale, and exactly one heal for each of her Blessed allies.

Samen Vloe Firenze |

I'm a little fuzzy on how this ring of golem control works. How big of an AoE does it affect? I assume activating it is a standard action? What is the extent of the commands I can issue?
Not entirely sure how the ring is to function, Samen does his best to shore up the left flank. He flies over toward the guards and attempts to take control of the golems there. "Remove the arms of the inquisitor behind you."
Spellcraft: 1d20 + 18 ⇒ (15) + 18 = 33

Ibinu Kemish |

Ibinu, seeing one of his supposed allies working on the left flank, targets the right flank. A singly tiny point of super condensed flame forms at the tip of his spear and zips out, engulfing both golems in a massive explosion of fire!
Fireball at the right flank golems for Fire: 8d6 + 8 ⇒ (2, 6, 1, 4, 1, 5, 1, 4) + 8 = 32 fire resistance is ignored, and immunity to fire is instead treated as half damage from fire attacks
He shrugs to no one in particular, "Of course it isn't overkill. I could hit both golems without allied casualties, why wouldn't I do it?"

Gabriel Izalith |

stealth: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (13) + 13 = 26
perception: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (12) + 10 = 22
Gabriel goes stealth and is going straight for the head so to speak. Looking for the Moon Inquisitor that would be nearby.

Hubristic Efreeti |

Ibinu half-melts the two golems he hits. They continue to lumber forward, lopsided now.
Inam continues to pray and chant in High Ifrit, the sound nearly musical, whipped by spring winds.
Gabriel, you find a smiling Moon inquisitor walking leisurely next to one of the golems.
Map updated. Gabriel, give me an attack roll if you wish to break stealth and attack

Hubristic Efreeti |

enemies
A cloud of white cottony material drifts above the battlefield. From this large wispy cloud, undines rain down, their faces all reposed in sleep. They gently sink to the ground, resembling blue sandbags as they pile up.
Some big, nasty mind-killing illusions/nightmares are going to come if these piles of sleepers reach a critical mass
**
One of the golems obeys Samen's command (yes, it is a standard action, and the AoE seems to be about the twenty feet you targeted this round). The nearby inquisitor starts dying noisily. The other golem presses on, and kills a third of the guard contingent in the span of three heartbeats.
The two half-melted golems pose less of a threat, and the nearby ifrit guards keep them occupied.

Hubristic Efreeti |

this is happening right during Samen's init and the golem's init, so Sequoya and Kallik can act in response to this
The southern golems immediately react to Samen's use of the ring, and pump their legs mercilessly toward him, one barreling fist raised each:
slam, charge: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (5) + 14 = 19
slam damage, strong charge: 2d10 + 15 ⇒ (4, 1) + 15 = 20
slam, charge: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (14) + 14 = 28
slam damage, strong charge: 2d10 + 15 ⇒ (9, 5) + 15 = 29
Samen, take 29 bludgeoning damage from 1 hit (the other one misses your AC of 20)

Gabriel Izalith |

attack: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (5) + 11 = 16
damage: 1d8 + 2d6 + 15 ⇒ (4) + (5, 1) + 15 = 25
Gabriel reappears, slashing at the inquisitors neck

Sequoya |

Setting her sights on the Moon Inquisitor, Sequoya sends a pair of arrows streaking toward the enemy, hoping to bring them down quickly while Mishipeshu paces before her, ready to attack any enemy that closes in on her.
+1 Composite Longbow/Tiger focus: 1d20 + 10 + 2 ⇒ (17) + 10 + 2 = 29

Ibinu Kemish |

Spellcraft DC 25: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (11) + 8 = 19
That doesn’t look good.

Sequoya |

Hubristic Efreeti |

Kallik charges over to help the weird warlock guy who currently looks like a Fey.

two hits!

Samen Vloe Firenze |

Technically my AC is 23 because of the shield bonus from the staff, but it didn't make a difference.
Spellcraft: 1d20 + 18 ⇒ (12) + 18 = 30
Samen shouts over the din of battle, "Someone do something about that cloud, or things are going to get real confusing and deadly around here! Or blast the Undines!"

Abnaki v'Cardi |

24 because of haste actually, but still not good enough
Starting a performance is a move action, I readied an action to stab any baddies that came within range.

Hubristic Efreeti |

The western guard contingent falls back, protecting Samen's back and gaining the refuge of Abnaki's aura.
The eastern lower contingent holds its own against the half-melted golems, but make little forward progress.
Following Samen's advice, the mid-tier contingent tries to pepper the wispy cloud with arrows, but this has no effect- the arrows sail right through.
The upper tiers, consisting of elite troops, take the time to quaff various potions to increase their armor and willpower.

Abnaki v'Cardi |

"Any tips on how we can wake them? Will the usual methods work or do we have to do something else?"
That was a pretty good spellcraft roll there, maybe he's got something?

Ibinu Kemish |

Waiting to see if I should 'blast' the cloud or do something based upon intel about it.

Ibinu Kemish |

The blessed of the Cauldron Lady lights the sky up with her flame, hopefully incinerating the cloud and not caching too many undines.
Fireball at the cloud for Fire: 8d6 + 8 ⇒ (5, 3, 4, 5, 1, 4, 6, 3) + 8 = 39 fire resistance is ignored, and immunity to fire is instead treated as half damage from fire attacks
He looks at Inam, "Sorry, it had to be done or we would be overwhelmed. I don't think too much life was lost, I was able to aim the fire decently."

Sequoya |

Expecting this battle to be long-term as opposed to a brief skirmish, Sequoya further prepares, calling upon her nature granted powers to enhance her and Mishipeshu's skin with a layer of rough, protective bark.
Cast Barkskin +4 natural armor to AC/Share spells. Duration 90 mins

Samen Vloe Firenze |

Do I need to keep spending standard actions every round to keep the golem under control? Can I control more than one at a time?

Gabriel Izalith |

attack: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (4) + 11 = 15
damage: 1d8 + 15 ⇒ (1) + 15 = 16
Gabriel keeps attacking the inquisitor

Samen Vloe Firenze |

Samen will 5 foot fly up out of the reach of the golems before issuing another command to as many of the golems as he can reach. "Restrain the other golems."
Spellcraft: 1d20 + 18 ⇒ (9) + 18 = 27

Kallik Sisa |

Hubristic Efreeti |

Ibinu's cauldron-infused blast washes over the cloud. It burns away like morning fog. As the dream-cloud dissipates, a cluster of undines--perhaps the last suspended in that strange place--plummet to the ground. They crunch and plop onto the mid-tier, some distance from Sequoya.
Inam prays to the Warrior. Etrah begins to hover below the blazing phoenix symbol, adding to its strength.
Sequoya bolsters her battle prowess.
Gabriel goes hunting for another inquisitor...

Hubristic Efreeti |

Impossibly, the burning undines are still alive. They walk or crawl as their shattered limbs allow. Their boiled skin is the stuff of nightmares and nightmares they are in this place between dreams and darkness; these shamblers groan in pain as they lurch toward Sequoya.
Seqouya, Mishipeshu can attack the "burning undines" on the map if you wish. They are obviously hostile.

Hubristic Efreeti |

Unable to reach the now-flying Samen, the western golems go after Kallik. Sensing the danger from these clanking titans, your axe Krz casts Blur upon you. (20% miss chance)

Kallik, do you have any other defenses or damage reduction etc besides just your 15 AC? Otherwise, even with the blur effect Krz just gave, you took 77 damage from 4 attacks

Gabriel's attack

Ozhna Ghosthand |

Aye, there's Abnaki right-o, the rockhead's prob'ly in a dream same as me-
gotta clear ma head-
can ye hear me?-
Abnaki, ye take 15 damage from the dagger of an old friend, but the real kicker is yer under a Silence effect now. It's yer move mate.
Abnaki, I think it's just you left to act in Round 2. Osna has stabbed you in the shoulder, and he brought a Silence effect with him (not cast on you, it's centered on him)

Hubristic Efreeti |

The eastern guard contingent loses some of defenders - even half-melted golems are an implacable enemy for the common elen.
The western guard holds against the remaining silver golem (which is thus far mostly umdamaged)
The mid-tier guard contingent looks ready to support Sequoya and Mishipehu, but look unsure what exactly to do.
The top-tier guards look antsy; they clearly want to help their comrades, but they wait. Who knows what tricks the enemy will employ?
As another moon inquisitor is murdered, the undine sleepers seem to be smoking away like mist. (many have been deleted, critical mass averted)
Abnaki and Sequoya, I believe it is just your actions left for Round 2. I will bot (if necessary) and update to Round 3 in the tomorrow morning.

Ozhna Ghosthand |

yep, old chap, its in yer head, a right lovely sewnd

Abnaki v'Cardi |

Ozhna? Any particular reason you've decided to stab me to announce your return? Have you considered not doing that? I'd be very appreciative.
Lemme know if you want some checks or something with this attempt to get him to not keep murdering me.
Abnaki total defenses for +6 to AC. The oration comes to a supernatural halt, and Abnaki does his best to gesture to Samen that their friend seems to have returned, albeit a bit unhinged.
