Wow, that Tallmind guy is creepy, and that's coming from a literal creeping shadow. Your shadow seems confident your whispering link won't be overheard by the telepathic Tallmind.

Your shadow nods, ready to take his place.

I need to be somewhere more stable this time. When you change, I can't hold on to your back or your shoulders anymore. You're slippery.

How irritating.

Your shadow wonders if we are going to try the transformation again today. He has ideas.

"Well this is... different. Let me try something." Focusing his will, Gabe sprints at the closest tree, transitioning from ground to bark as easily as trading another step. Balancing easily on a branch, he looks down at the others with a smug expression. "Huh... this could prove useful."

I wasn't thinking this would be permanent yet. There's a few days travel to" Tinker" with the transformation.

This time, your shadow seems unaffected by the transformation, and is loosely hanging onto you. It flows around your movements, more like a cloak than shadow. The voice seems slightly jostled as he says, I'll have to find a better spot to sit next time.

Is the ghost who haunts a mushroom the closest to a normal elen in our group? wonders your shadow.

Better to have the loud sun-thing on our side than as an enemy, I suppose.

Eat a sugar cookie- I want one. The shadows of cookies taste good, too.

Gabriel, your shadow is as quiet and thoughtful as you are after you are back in your original forms. That was transforming thing was interesting, but it could have gone better.

Hahaha, yes! He should make people dance against their will all the time! The expressionless face on your shadow makes a strange contrast with his mocking laugh.

Your bland-faced shadow says, I hate this. Is this ordeal worth anything?

1 person marked this as a favorite.

I wouldn't be here in the first place without people experimenting on you, so I can't complain too much. Just remember I found you again after we died. I'm hard to get rid of. Your shadow somehow gives a disturbing impression of smiling, even though it is nothing but a silhouette.

Fine.

Gabriel, your shadow has -finally- recovered completely from that awful sun garbage. It gives you a rude mental prod.
What the volc happens to me if you turn into a hewn man or whatever the hell he's calling it?

Gabriel, as the soothing lotion takes care of your burns, your shadow seems to "watch" in fascination. It moves subtly; the old matron sees nothing as it darts from place to place. It stares at the various pieces of your healing skin with absent eyes.

I can do this for us, this repairing. Let me see...

you start fast healing on your own for a few rounds, as per Discussion, even before the matron has a chance to give you any official healing potions

Gabriel, you feel a sharp tug against the back of your spine.

Just remember, I'm not going anywhere this time. You and me, 'til the end.

Just an RP way to explain your natural 1 on initiative

Gabriel, your shadow rolls his eyes invisibly and sighs silently. He's a third set at best.

That makes sense. I would do it that way, too.

Kallik and Sequoya, your high perception bonuses would allow you to just barely hear the whisper of Gabriel's shadow. It moves independently of him, and during combat you saw it attacking alongside Gabriel.

Gabe, your shadow asks, How did we end up at the Quiet Elder? Did we know the others were here?

Unfortunately, your minor illusion does not even register with the golem - it tramples past.

Your shadow tugs on your feet. I can sort of see him. Follow me. Let's stab him again.

Gabriel, give me a perception check DC 21 and we'll see if you get in his general area for the next round

Gabriel's shadow attacks twice, just as Gabriel would,

attack: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (18) + 13 = 31
damage: 1d8 + 15 + 2d6 ⇒ (5) + 15 + (1, 2) = 23

attack: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (9) + 13 = 22
damage: 1d8 + 15 + 2d6 ⇒ (1) + 15 + (6, 4) = 26

...and leaves the inquisitor dead from sudden blood loss in a matter of seconds.

Gabriel, your shadow also hits the inquisitor scum for another 29 damage. The grinning fool dies before he really even notices you.

(deleted from map)

Gabriel, your shadow whispers, Shall we find a quieter spot to rest a moment? It is so loud and crowded here.

Gabriel's shadow dances a wild, angry beat for a moment, completely out of time with Gabriel himself, then nods.

Gabriel:

Where are we going?

Gabriel:

Seriously, what the hell is wrong with that smoke lady? Please make sure she doesn't kill you, or I will probably die too.

Gabriel:

Is Abnaki kidding? Colors are terrible. Switching places would be like puking all the time. Out of my eyes.

Gabriel:

Huh. I guess that's fair. Do you know it kind of sucks to be your shadow? The other shadows think I look weird. I have white stitches where you have black veins.

Gabriel:
Your...shadow is talking to you. In a plain voice (it really just sounds like you, whispering) it says,

So what am I? A pair of shoes for you to walk on?
