Welcome! Thanks for signing up and coming to play. As I mentioned, this is my first time GMing PFS2e, so please bear with me and I welcome any comments or rules clarifications.

The biggest thing I see are how to handle secret rolls. I've seen different GM's do them differently, and I may handle them differently during the game based on what I feel will work at the time. Because of that, please ensure you have your skill bonuses listed somewhere on your profile sheet. It doesn't have to be in the header (and probably shouldn't), but I should be able to find them if I want.

Other than that, pretty standard stuff if you've played PFS2e on the boards before. If you're newer and/or have questions, please let me know.

No worries. I've only GMed PFS2 once myself.
Only special thing to note is that Teja is trained in every (non lore) skill.

I haven't tried it yet - I am mostly still in 1e land, but I have a couple of characters, and thought I would give 2e another try. So forgive my likely many mistakes. But it looked like you could all use a cleric!

Fun trivia: Before the pandemic struck, when I still had the opportunity to play this character in the meat world, I always had a deck of playing cards as a theatrical prop. As I post in this PbP, please imagine I'm (the player) shuffling a deck of cards and performing card tricks. Thank you. Jack♢ will of course also be doing card tricks.

Mimi speaks Taldane (Common) with a strong Galtan accent. Just imagine Poirot or Inspector Clouseau reading the lines in a faux French accent.

Mimi has the Incredible Initiative feat, so her initiative rolls get a +2 circumstance bonus added to them.

Standard disclaimer:

I'm currently living in Spain and as such, may have strange posting times compared to the rest of you. If other PbP adventures I've played in are anything to go by, most of you are likely to be posting from North America somewhere. I am some 9 hours ahead of Pacific time and 6 hours ahead of Eastern time, so I go to bed sometime in your mid-afternoon and get up sometime in the very early morning.

No worries, Mimi. I'm actually living in London for a bit, so game posts might be at your time!

What's everyone's thoughts on waiting for Anjo? My only concern is that it definitely puts us into the Christmas holidays, as opposed to possibly being done before Christmas. This is a Quest, so it's short. However, if everyone's ok with waiting and doesn't expect the Christmas season to completely take you away, I don't mind.

Horizon Hunters

HP 39/39 | AC 20 (22 with ) | Fort +7, Ref +11, Will +8 | Perc +8 | Resist cold 1 elec 1 | Hero (0/3) | Exploration: Avoid notice | ♤♡♢♧☆

Two weeks is indeed a significant amount of time to wait, especially compared to the short-ish length of Quests.

I'd prefer we didn't wait, but maybe we don't have to compromise.

I don't know your situation, Arrowhawk on Mythweavers, but my recommendation would be to use a 1st level character instead of the character that's currently in another game.

My inclination is not to wait. We'll be pretty much done by the time Anjo becomes available.

Having said that, the impact on me is negligible; I'll be as available through the holidays as I am right now, so I'll leave the decision to those for whom it makes a difference.

Radiant Oath

Male Halfling Neutral Good halfling cleric 1

Either way works for me. These are short, and two weeks can turn into three of four, especially around the holidays. But I am also not in a hurry.

Alright, let's go ahead and start. Anjo, you're welcome to join in with a new level 1, a pregen, or just a different character.

I'll get gameplay started tonight.

Edit: Or now! Thread is open.

I'm glad you like it. I know it irritates some people, but I enjoy it and I think it gives her an interesting twist. I think that it being sometimes hard to understand what she's saying is a feature, not a bug.

If it really annoys people to the point that it is having a serious detrimental impact on their enjoyment of the adventure, then I want to know about it (DM me if you prefer). I can always tone it down or turn it off completely if necessary.

I like it! I do accents for some of my characters too. Its a good way to set your character apart in PbP. If your character was in a movie, they'd probably need subtitles but being confused by what she says sometimes is probably what you're going for.

Understandable, but I highly recommend using a RSS Feed reader, instead of relying on forum dots. Many benefits. You don't have to continuously check the forum to see if there's been an update.

If you're using Chrome as your browser, I can recommend this extension. You can find this campaign's gameplay RSS feed by clicking the RSS icon in the top right, or here.

I can't find anything to say otherwise. So, yes let's pick items and slot boons now.

Crookedtoes apprentice (ally): Speak goblin
Sandslide: bonus if fail reflex vs a trap

We only get to slot three boons, is that right?

I'll have a lesser healing potion for my consumable.

Oh, right, I think Jack also has that resist cold/elec 1 boon. Might be useful.

Boons:
Touched by the Storm (cold resistance 1 and electricity resistance 1)
Experienced Mountaineer (treat steep slopes as difficult terrain, rather than greater difficult terrain)

I don't think I have any boons to slot. But Travis will take a lesser healing potion for a consumable.

I assume you mean a minor healing potion. A PC doesn't get access to the lesser version until level 3 if you're a Generalist, otherwise Level 5.

Yes, I know that's confusing. It is to me too. I always have to repeat "lesser is better than minor" to myself every time I see one or the other to make sure I know what's what.

What exactly is an "elixir of healing"?

I assume that it is either an Elixir of Life or a Healing Potion, but it would be nice to know which it is before we use them.

You Only Die Twice Slides **Maps**

Good eye. The author has clarified that it should be Lesser Elixirs of Life (3d6+6 healing with a +1 bonus vs disease and poison), which I find quite powerful for this level, but that's what she wrote!

Yeah...I wonder if they meant minor elixir of life. People get confused by minor and lesser a lot.

That's about it folks! Just another post or two getting you back to the VC for reporting.

Thank you for playing. I hope it was enjoyable. I'll have the chronicles out today or tomorrow.

Any feedback for me? This is a quick jaunt, but I tried to keep the pacing up to finish before the holidays. Overall the story is good, though I wish they had been able to fit in another combat. I did a few different things with secret checks, but I'm not convinced. Me posting a description, rolling knowledge for you, then telling you what you learn just feels like I'm playing on my own.

Huh, I was kinda expecting a big bad to show up. These two enemies we fought felt like two minions, a warmup to a boss, a prelude. But it is nice that we managed to finish now, and didn't have to pause for the holidays.

Thanks for running the game!

Well played folks. Have a nice rest of the year, stay safe, and good luck in the next year!

It doesn't worry me who rolls the [dice]. That's just mechanics. I actually prefer it when the GM makes the secret rolls rather than us making them or wrapping them in spoilers.

For me it is all about the role-playing, so the faster we get the dice rolling out of the way the better. I admit to tweaking my role-playing to better match the rolls I make. I just think that kind of roll-playing makes for better role-playing.

Though we didn't play for long, I had no problems with your GMing. You kept things moving along nicely and your posts contained all the information we needed. Your writing style was succinct but descriptive enough to keep my attention. Also, it was remarkably free of grammatical errors and typos; I know how much longer it takes to do that, and I appreciate it.

I look forward to playing with all of you again.

I'll second Mimi here. I liked just being told what I knew.

Quests are always pretty short. I've only played a couple but they all seem limited to one combat, which is fine.

Overall I think you did a great job, explained the unusual rules well (underwater combat) - even though we didn't end up needing that (which was great for scene setting. I totally thought we were going to have an underwater battle getting that body back!)

As someone who GMs more than plays, I like the concept of secret rolls but I'm not always sure how to best implement them. I do think rolling for the player makes more sense than having them put the roll in a spoiler though.

Honestly, I thought your GMing was good, but I was a terrible player - sorry about that. I thought I was ready to give 2e another go, but I need to re-read the rules and find a decent break in my schedule to really concentrate on it. I really appreciated your patience!

In any case, thank you much for spending the time running us through. It was interesting, and a good group of players!

Relax about being a terrible player. For one it's not true, even if you struggle with rules mastery.
2nd edition is a different game, many of us are struggling to adjust to the new rules. That is one of the reasons I still only have one 2nd edition character.

You Only Die Twice Slides **Maps**

No worries, Travis. Things happen and this was much less geared to a typical cleric's skillset. Let me know if you have a question about any particular rule. The rulebook is not laid out is a great manner and can leave you not understanding how to cross-reference different rules. Overall, I like the 2e ruleset, but some things still don't feel right.

Here are your chronicles. Please let me know if there's anything wrong.

Thank you for all the feedback! I hope you play with you all again!
