Oh, that doesn't seem to be the same as what you wrote in Gameplay.
True, just reread it in game and the accent dropping connecting words does make it vague.
Looking at character sheets, it seems that Tanu is the only one with a blanket, so you'll have to make do with one.
LOL, so nevermind on the 'two blanket' idea anyway :)
As least I've given the option to take the eggs with us :)
edit:
isn't Tanu still with us? I thought it was his horse were putting the eggs on. Either way, it sounds like he'll need to dismount to put the eggs on it. So it's up to him.

Tanu's horse is the only one at the top of the mountain, for sure.
I think we just need a few more Climb checks so we can move back down to the valley floor. By then it'll be pretty close to nightfall, so folks can decide if they want to ride through the night to get home or if they want to camp.

Personality and appearance are in!
While it'd probably make the most sense to be introduced at the fort, the idea of Casamir stumbling in from the woods on the party seems like a very in-character way to meet them.

... and camping posts from Portia, Pavo, and Wulfgar to move on.I wasn't sure what you were looking for. So I went looking around.
@The Archlich -- I'd love to see some good RP. What I want from this adventure is some nice conversations over campfires as you travel all over this valley, and some good "planning-over-the-war-table" talks. Plus, of course, the actual encounters that you'll run into.
Found this in the recruitment, So now the in game post makes more sense. I will get up a good post in the morning :)

I'm working away from a computer today and will be back tonight/tomorrow.
Good luck resolving your work issues, W E Ray!

It doesn't seem like the party is headed back to the fort at this time. How would you like to proceed?

Work is a nightmare, I'm looking to balance the financial quarter and it's got some issues -- but since it's Not gonna get done this week (Ugh), I'm gonna get back to the Gameplay! WootWoot! ....Just not tonight; I'm exhausted. I skimmed over all the posts I missed and it looks like we're just hoping to find some horses.
Portia can cast Phantom Steed if it helps.
I think the priority is to get back to Fort Thorn WITH the eggs and proof of success intact. If the horses are alive (and ambulatory), they'll wander back to Fort Thorn if they're able. If their not able (if they're stolen), then tracking them or the ones responsible for one horse's death (I think the Fey!), then tracking them with little spellcasting resources while trying to take care of the Owlbear eggs is foolhardy. Just my vote. (Of course, I was just skimming the Gameplay; I may have missed a vital bit of information that would change my vote.) But I vote to return to Fort Thorn and hope the horses are alive and make it back on their own.
Hopefully I'll see you in Gameplay Friday morning!

Maybe he could pull a Fezzik and randomly show up with four white horses :D

If he can explain why he would be doing that, and he is willing to pay for four horses and saddles out of his own wealth, then I can accept that.

I'd like to deal with the horse murderers now, while we've got tracks. We likely won't find them again if we come back in a few days, especially if it continues to rain.

Maybe you could not even be there as a mercenary - you’re just on a walk-about, rambling where the wind takes you, and we’ll rope you into fighting with us :)
Portia Porphyria-Jeggare |
So,... the newer Players had just missed my own PC's introduction and description by a couple days -- I went ahead and did some copy/paste and editing it for reposting in Gameplay. That way you can all get a gander on her.
Please excuse, again, my lack of posting last week. Usually the first week of a new financial quarter is really hectic, made more so when I have trouble tracking down this or that mysterious (or hiding) number.
Wulfgar Ivarson |
will either get a post in game either tonight or in the morning.
But what is our marching order?
Since we got Pavo in heavy armor as well, shall we have him towards the front and Wulfgar bringing up the rear? Both Tanu and Talia have high perceptions so I would think one of them in the front.
I would recommend Tanu, Pavo, Talia, Portia then Wulfgar. But happy to be anywhere.
Talia Khavortorov |
Sorry, hoped to get a post up but today is getting away from me. Talia has Deadeye's Lore up, so she can travel at full speed and use the survival skill. She'll forage for food as they go.

Same, sorry, will get a post up tomorrow. Wulfgar's marching order sounds fine to me. Question - do I get to ride? You said previously that I couldn't, but your most recent gameplay post says I get to ride.
Portia Porphyria-Jeggare |
The bit about the shiny rock had me laughing.
Thanks, Simeon.
I'm always a bit worried or nervous when I post something that could be interpreted as an insult or attack on another PC. In PbP one never knows how one's words are being read since there's no inflection or tone or table laughter.Little 19-year-old Portia Porphyria-Jeggare is struggling between her snooty upbringing, much of which she still holds tight to, and a more pragmatic life which is slowly unfolding itself to her. I hope she will continue the inner struggle between the two for the duration of the adventure.

It is my birthday today, so slightly distracted. Will try to post later tonight, but might not be until tomorrow.

^Hahaha! Nicely done, Wulfgar.
Happy birthday, Tanu!

Alright, I wanna talk about some expectations here.
What I think happened there with Casamir is that he rolled, and, seeing the failure, decided to pay the money to avoid combat. However, the roll was to prevent the drakes from seeing his deception, and it was a failure. The drakes are incensed by the deception and thus decide to attack. My philosophy says that you simply can't have everything that you want -- you can take a chance, or you can pay, but you can't hedge your bet by paying if you fail.
Now we are in combat. The only person who can act is Casamir. Generally, in order to accomplish game-relevant actions, some dice must be rolled -- in this case, social skills. Casamir did not roll, although he had two separate chances to make a post, so I am moving the game forward without his roll.
Everyone else -- you can attempt a check on your turn anyway, when it comes around. However, Tanu, you can only aid one person at a time, and it will probably require that somebody speak Draconic to really explain the situation here.
Anyway, let's have a fight!
Casamir Ydrasku |
I’d like to clarify things. The roll I made, and the roll I thought you wanted me to make, was the bluff check for the first attempt at deception. Because I didn’t do well on the initial bluff attempt, and given that they would attack if I didn’t hand over the remaining gold, I gave up my gold.
Doesn’t matter much now I guess, though, just thought I’d lay out what I thought about the situation. Let’s kill some dragons and get our money back.
Portia Porphyria-Jeggare |
Regarding the Battlemap, I'm not sure if you want to put my Phantom Steed on it or not. It can't do anything except take up space, really. But in the interest of precision, if you want it there--
. . . .
It'll be up to the DM for the Drakes -- 30 feet up in the air having reigned Fireballs at us,....
And it'll be up to you individual Players, of course, but if you want to and can, use my illusion of your Ghost to feign death and see if it buys us an escape or a little time. Who knows?...
Wulfgar, for example, won't get Large for another six seconds. And I can concentrate an make him look like a Large Ghost next round. It'll all depend on the DM and if you wanna try something.
leinathan |
Just a quick rule note, as I'm waiting for more people to post in the Gameplay thread:
Resistance does not stack. You take the highest value, which for Portia is 10. She takes 9 damage to her absorbtion pool and 0 damage to her health.
The phantom steed has health and can die, so I think it should be gone due to the fireballs.
