Thinking about trying to get Wulfgar up with my wand of CLW so he can do some additional healing. But that will be two rounds at least. Move + draw rod (another move action). Then round 2 use the CLW wand.

Or I could cast invis this round, move towards Wulfgar, and draw and use the CLW wand next round. Wulfgar could then channel as long as the drakes remain 75' up.

But there's two issues:

1. Blue drake may still be alive. It'd need to be KO'd.
2. They can still firebomb us. @Portia, do you think you could make Talia running away part of the illusion? Maybe this draws a firebomb or two towards the illusion?

Alternatively, I could try and land a blindness or glitterdust on one of the drakes? They probably have higher fort saves, but if blindness sticks it is permanent until removed.

When I get a chance to post, which won’t be until this evening, I am planning on giving Wulfgar a potion of CLW, which I can do in this round. Move action to get potion, Nisha moves to wulfgar, free action with Ride check to quick dismount, standard to pour the potion down his throat. I’d recommend another glitterdust if possible personally, especially if you can hit multiple drakes at once with it

GM, how will Talia's Song of Marching come into play with the overland travel?

Archives of Nethys wrote:
Song of Marching (Su) At 3rd level, a skald can use raging song to inspire his allies to move faster without suffering from fatigue. By expending 1 round of raging song, the skald invigorates allies within 60 feet, who may hustle for the next hour; this movement counts as a walk (not a hustle) for the purpose of accruing nonlethal damage and fatigue. The skald must continue to perform the song for the remainder of the hour, otherwise its effects end, but only 1 round of raging song is expended for that hour.

Assuming our lowest speed is 20 ft, according to the PRD we can move 4 miles per hour at a hustle. Talia can use song of marching for up to 17 hours.

I've played a couple skalds and never used this ability before. Exciting!

2 people marked this as a favorite.
What? Half-Elf Writer 1 / Dancer 1 / Chemist 1

Because of the terrain (forested hills) overland movement is at 3/8ths speed. That means 1.5 miles of movement per hour while hustling, which means you can get home in 4 hours instead of 8. That means no forced march necessary.

Level Two @ 3+1/1 domain: spiritual weapon silence, bull’s strength, lesser restoration, hold person,
Level Three @ 2+1/1 domain: magic vestment, summon monster III, Dispel Magic, create food and water

What do you all think about buying some more mounts and associated gear? Since we're pretty cash poor - or Talia is at least - how do you feel about trading in some of our treasure?

We have the following carried by Wulfgar: wallet, banknotes and change: seven notes worth fifty gold each, redeemable at any Chelaxian bank, as well as thirty copper pieces and ten silver pieces. a sample brown clay pot of paint. The pigments are rainbow, and appear to be enough to cover about a ten-foot square surface, a handaxe of remarkable preservation and craftsmanship. With a darkwood handle, a gleaming blade, and engravings of a variety of trees down the haft, it was clearly a prized heirloom. a small black glass bead. a bracelet or charm, a picture of a loved one, or a damp and half-rotted notebook.

I'm not sure if we can redeem any of the banknotes?

The magic items: The pot of paint is powerful transmutation -- too powerful to identify with any specificity. The handaxe is a logger's tool. It allows its wielder to ignore the hardness of wooden objects and the DR of plant creatures. The bead is a camper's item. When thrown at the ground, it erupts into a campfire, which extinguishes itself and transforms back into a bead after 8 hours.

Ok, moved this over to discussion. I'm good going wherever we decide and the hill giant would be quicker to get to but we may be there and back again before our horses arrive. But that's neither here nor there.

My question from a game mechanic perspective; would the earlier revealed 'bounties' Dark wood glade and mitheral mines possibly be lower in difficulty than the newer revealed 'bounties'? Is that something we may want to consider?

LN Female (Brevic) Human Skald 6 | HP: 44/44 | AC: 20 (22 w/shield) ( 13 Tch, 20 Ff) | CMB: +8 CMD: 20 | F:+8 R:+5 W:+7 | Init: +3 | Perc: +9; SM: 13 | Speed 30 ft | Spells: 1st 5/5 2nd 4/4 Spell Kenning: 1/1 | Performance 15/15 | Active conditions:

I think that's definitely worth considering. I'm happy to tackle those first as well. In general I'm all for tackling lower difficulty and building treasure/wealth/experience a bit before tackling more difficult things.

I guess one consideration is whether anything is on a timer? Is it more likely that the giant may be a timer quest than something like securing a mine?

EDIT: Also that medusa terrifies me.

What? Half-Elf Writer 1 / Dancer 1 / Chemist 1

Are those questions for me? I'm not likely to answer questions like that. It's your prerogative to decide what seems more or less difficult, and which things are the highest priority.

If you're looking for guidance, you can ask NPCs or perform research in the Gameplay thread.

So by timer, we have a certain amount of days to accomplish everything. We don't want to be sitting too long, or wasting trips if we don't have to.

leinathan wrote:

LOL, sorry no leinathan, it was aimed at the other players.

I am curious if the Mithril and darkwood were reported as "bounties" as well, putting the tasks on 'equal footing' or if they were handled some other way, but I will first go back through the game thread and search there.

I do think asking NPC's for guidance or researching is a good idea.

Securing access to resources and eliminating threats are probably categorized differently.

Grand Lodge

leinathan wrote:

Cool, thank you.

I've gotten to the 'fey fight' and I haven't found much description on tasks yet, but I will keep reading. It looks like the group may need to speak to Gyrad Tolgrith and find out what are the higher priorities.

We also need to calculate the distance and time walking to wherever were going to see which tasks are the best use of our time; since it will take eight days to get horses.

Portia are you willing to let Casamir buy you a horse? I'm still not sure why we aren't selling the stuff we collected.

Edit:
Good found out the information

That right there is a magnificent Bluff. Regardless, next time you want to attempt deception, I want to see a dice roll. Unless I am expected to reference your character sheet constantly to double-check you? The drakes demanded all your gold. Giving up only some of it is a form of deception.

Yes a vote for the giant is fine.

I have copied the items that seem to be part of our tasks to Wulfgars page. I guess in the simplest sense I was trying to find out in game if the bugbears were something we were eventually going to deal with (ie if I should add it to my list) or if the Bugbears were just part of the narrative and not something that is our concern.

Since they fall under the category of something we have to decide about I will add them to the list :)

Thought I'd put this in Discussion so Portia can roll, as she is the only person who has Knowledge (planes). No one else should know any capabilities of the bone devil.

Know (planes) DC 19:
The bone devils are the interrogators and inquisitors of devilkind. They are happiest while torturing, and they are born on Hell's fifth layer, Stygia. Powerful fiends favor these terrifying sadists for their unwavering devotion to Hell’s laws and the commands of their masters, as osyluths eagerly report the disobedience of other devils—regardless of standing—and take to the craft of torture like morbid artists. Diabolists risk much to bargain with them, as bone devils glean many infernal secrets amid their nightmarish calcified torture hives.

Like all devils, bone devils, also known as osyluths, possess a wide range of defenses and immunities. They are highly resistant to magic, and only highly-trained wizards can break their defenses. They are totally immune to fire and poison, and possess resistance to acid and cold. They can see perfectly in darkness of any kind, including magical darkness, and possess telepathy.

DC 24:
Bone devils have no weaknesses, but a weapon enchanted with holy or doused with holy water will overcome their powerful natural resistance to harm. They also possess a range of powerful natural magic, including the ability to fly, turn invisible, teleport, and create convincing illusions.

DC 29:
You have full access to the bone devil statblock, with all of its details revealed to you. Some bone devils receive additional training on top of their natural abilities. The most common types of advanced bone devils are sorcerers, fighters, and barbarians.
