House Porphyria in Cheliax, in an attempt to rebuild its lost power base in Korvosa
(after having been exiled from Korvosan nobility by Queen Domina Arabasti), has successfully married one of their promising daughters, Portia, to a daughter of the influential House Jeggare.
Equally ambitious, ruthless and Chelaxian, Portia had sought out a Devil in Westcrown with which to negotiate for her soul. With an arranged marriage awaiting her in Korvosa, she wanted to ensure her ambitions could be seized in Korvosa and eventually in The Nine Hells.
Portia Porphyria-Jeggare moved to Korvosa for her marriage, taking possession of a nice manor home in The Heights, but lived initially in The Academae as a collegian of Wizardry while her young Jeggare wife -- Lord Mercival Jeggare's niece -- maintained the finances.
Recently out of The Academae and looking to add to her wife's financial and political influence, Portia Porphyria-Jeggare was looking to join The Darklight Sisterhood, an altogether greater organization of lore-seekers than the wishy-washy, often chaotic, Pathfinder Society.
Having recently begun the foundation of a powerful headquarters for The Darklight Sisterhood, Portia Porphyria-Jeggare and her young wife were completely unprepared for the tidal wave that hit South Shore, effectively destroying it, and collapsing their new offices into a deep sinkhole -- a cavern that had been the lair of a Vampire. While she barely survived the crashing fall of the office under the briny sea-wave, the Vampire was not forgiving of his lair being destroyed. He killed Portia Porphyria Jeggare, filling himself with her blood (and her wife's) before taking his most prized possessions and escaping.
As a confused and staggered Petetioner awakening in Hell, Portia Porphyria-Jeggare is desperate to get back to Korvosa to spend at least a few decades rebuilding House Porphyria in Korvosa, bringing fame and glory to The Darklight Sisterhood, and creating a worthy personal reputation as one of the most powerful Wizards in Varisia. She has so much more Infernal work to do before she spends her afterlife in Hell!
