OOC Discussions here please. Of course, ooc comments and commentary directly related to character actions are easier for me and everyone else to track and process when included in the gameplay posts.
Reznor Misraria |
Thanks much for being willing to run two tables of this, I'll get my character fully up to date a little later today.
Ela Kukai |
Checked into gameplay. Minor note: Spellslinger is a rough archetype on spell restrictions. No cantrips except for Read/Detect Magic, but must be prepared in 1st-level slots.
SO, she bought a Discerning Wayfinder after the last scenario for 5pp (Detect Magic at will).
GM Nomadical |
Please fill out Slide 2 as you get checked in.
Also please let me know here in Discussion if you (or your companion) get any automatic checks such as from Traps-spotter or something similar, or if you have any unusual constant effect abilities (such as from deathwatch eyes, etc.)

Just the aforementioned detect magic. Arcana/spellcraft checks would still be required once presence of magic is recognized.
Added to slides.
Apalah Blackfang |
Player Name: nightdeath
PC Name: Apalah Blackfang
PFS Number: 76925-49
Faction: Liberty's Edge
Day Job rolls: Perform (Dance) 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (12) + 9 = 21
Botting : Flank and Melee Combat with Performance (Dance), Sing if Visual not available. Will Prebuff Mage Armor and Shield. Has UMD+10 to make it happen lol.
Angela Isafira |
Angela here!
She also had an Inherited Discerning Wayfinder, cause having a stellar arcana or spellcraft score and never getting to use it to determine magical items was the worst.
She doesn't have any constant benefits for spotting things or things like that, but she does have free uses of inspiration on a ton of different skills as long as she has a point still and I have yet to run out of inspiration.
Additionally, Angela is made to aid. She gives a +4 on aid another checks and has the effortless aid talent that allows her to aid as a move action, and with a use of inspiration, as a swift action.
Reznor Misraria |
Player Name: pjrogers
PC Name: Reznor Misraria
PFS Number: 226993-2
Faction: Dark Archive
Day Job rolls: Perform (oratory): 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (5) + 7 = 12
Botting: see Reznor’s page
Reznor is an evangelist cleric, so he can do inspire courage. His fighter level is to help out with his archery BAB and feats. He's got darkvision but nothing else that could be considered a constant effect.
Grax, Son of Dray |
Player Name: Enchanter Tim
PC Name: Grax, son of Dray
PFS Number: 1142-9
Faction: Grand Lodge
Day Job rolls: Prof (porter): 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (1) + 7 = 8
Grax is a mostly standard greatsword fighter, but he can make/use mutagens to hulk out. His only constant ability is Darkvision, unless you consider his familiar to be a 'constant ability'.
Javon is technically his familiar, but in his mind, he's the Pathfinder and Grax is just the hired help. Javon has the sage archetype, so he's a source of knowledge while Grax does the fighting.

This is an FYI that I'm going to be away and without access to internet this coming Saturday and Sunday. I will return Sunday evening, when I will catch up on weekend posts.
GM Nomadical |
Could I please get tokens for Angela and Therin, either on Slide 2 or straight into the Great Room on slide 8.
Reznor Misraria |
I am doing this as a replay, so I’m avoiding proposing any plan or course of action
Reznor Misraria |
I've got a medical thing today, so I may not be able to post until tomorrow.
GM Nomadical |
@Ela: I'm going to have to say they can't be reprogrammed. Craft Construct isn't accessible until 7th level at the earliest, and you'd have to have access to the right spells to craft it in the first place. I realize this isn't crafting per se, but an understanding of the principles would be needed before you could reprogram it. Sorry.
If it's any consolation, none of my other tables have fought them. There are triksy ways around this.
Ela Kukai |
Makes sense. I didn't expect it to be easy/given :)
Reznor Misraria |
A little craziness at work as the pandemic has forced us to change our planned schedule. I may be a bit out of the loop for the next day or so.
Apalah Blackfang |
I have a serious workload currently.
No one took note that 4 staff took leave at the same time. Right now it's just me single manning a 5 man staion. Will be slow in posting.
Apologies.
Angela Isafira |
Ugh that sucks! I hope they find more people soon, or decrease the expected workload.
GM Nomadical |
It takes 2 successes to convince Emilio of your identities. You have 1. So, yes, Reznor would certainly be able to aid Angela or take the lead and let Angela's and Grax's aids apply. And/or Ela could give it a go, too.
As a reminder, you have the wand of air bubble, which has "a handful" of charges remaining. Okay, so maybe that was a little vague. It has 5 charges. And is on both the Cleric and Wizard lists. But not Bard, which seems strange.
Angela Isafira |
And the investigator would have to use UMD to activate it as we don't get the free wand usage of the alchemists. .... though double checking air bubble is not on our lists natively anyways.
Apalah Blackfang |
I have a UMD of +10 if it helps.
Ela Kukai |

Feels like things are opening up more in the conversation though. is it really still bluff, or has it transitioned to straight diplomacy yet?
GM Nomadical |
No, it required 2 successes at Bluff or Disguise. Alternately, you could have used Linguistics to present forged papers that identify you as agents of Torch. You know, those papers you made back at the bar???? (That no one ever makes. Maybe I should present that as an option early on next time.)
If you'd failed to get 2 successes, then you could have tried Diplomacy or Intimidate to get him to deliver the papers in spite of him not believing that you work for Torch.
@Therin: NVM, OBE. She grabbed the gloves.
Angela Isafira |
Dang I would ahve enjoyed using linguistics. She's a better forger than a liar, all those years of having to redo forms for agents who failed to fill out their expense forms correctly, making her have to redo them only to find the agent is off on some 9 year journey to the Crown of the World forcing her to forge their signature! (Not that she's salty about that one. Nope, not at all.)
GM Nomadical |
You guys cranked through that! Thanks for being so efficient and posting so promptly. Sorry to make you wait sometimes due to my flying schedule.
Regarding the “safe passage tokens,” the follow up scenario to this is #9-25, Betrayal in the Bones. It’s tier 12-15, and I don’t know if playing this one has any mechanical effect, though I suppose it might.
I need Day Job rolls from Ela & Angela.
Grax, you didn’t use your reroll, so would you like to reroll that Nat 1 on your day job?
I’d also like everyone to give me a Boon roll. No, this isn’t being reported under OSP because I held two slots in the original recruitment (they both ended up at the high table.) But I have a stash of random boons from cons and I’d like to share them as a token of my thanks for you being such good players.
Some Explanations:
You guys don’t get the boon on your chronicles called “Chef’s Secret Recipe.” You had to search the kitchen, disarm a trap in the kitchen, and then steal a recipe book. Presumably, you’d do this before finding Emilio, since freeing him triggers the return of Irel and her CR 12 bodyguard.
“Fighting” the Monk 9 / Assassin 4 bodyguard actually just results in your arrests. You can then buy your way out of prison with Prestige and gold, or your character gets reported as dead. So, yeah, don’t fight the bodyguard.
None of my tables have yet to fight the constructs. (The high tier PBP table hasn’t gotten there yet, so we’ll see if they break the streak.) The constructs come to life if “anyone other than Amynta attempts to take the journal out of the library.” I’ve had parties stand out in the dining room, use mage hand to slide the journal out of the room along the floor, and then close the door immediately. Others have just had the person carrying it exit through the secret door, be the last one out of the room and slam the secret door. The constructs don’t have hands to open doors with.
I met the author, Jenny Jarzabski, when I ran this at its premiere at PaizoCon 2018. She used to be a professional sommelier, hence the theme.
I’ll put your chronicles in a Google Drive folder once I get those last few day job and boon rolls.
Angela Isafira |
I was very tempted to activate the constructs and see if I could stick them on Amynta and her bodyguard by tossing the journal and what not into the room with the bodyguard and running away, but I wasn't sure if they'd follow me or the journal.
As for dayjob (oops for not rolling earlier)
Profession (Secretary): 1d20 + 8 + 1d6 ⇒ (3) + 8 + (1) = 12
Boon?: 1d20 ⇒ 3
Ela Kukai |
No dayjob roll.
Boon: 1d20 ⇒ 12
I don't really remember the delays GM, so it must've not been that bad :) Thanks for running this! The trap in the basement was pretty tense (even if not as much as Ela thought at first :) ).
Apalah Blackfang |
Oh Lol. The constructs don't have hands to open the doors. That is so sick... I totally missed that. I had assumed that all constructs had hands and the intelligence to use them.
boon: 1d20 ⇒ 1
Also Chef's secret recipe is a Boon. that must have being some recipe...
GM Nomadical |
1 person marked this as a favorite. |
@Angela, you didn't use your reroll either. Feel free to reroll that Day Job if you want. The gp will be the same if you happen to roll lower, and the upside is more likely, so there's no harm in it.
The trap can be tense and confusing, mostly because it takes certain rolls to figure out what's going on, then Disable to disarm it. You've go time, but on first contact, you don't really realize it. And the suffocation rules for failing to hold your breath and then sucking in CO2 aren't familiar to most players.
Given the wording on the constructs, I think that if you're still in the room when the journal goes out the door, they'd attack you since you're the one that took the journal out. Tossing it out to an accomplice, for instance, would leave you to be punished for the theft if nothing else, I think.
If you're really curious, they're Necrophidius' but they also have the Advanced template on them. You know, just as a bonus.
Grax, Son of Dray |
Prof Porter - reroll: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (10) + 7 = 17
Boon: 1d20 ⇒ 16
Damn, no hands. That's cruel. I guess we did see a picture of them.
Thanks for running it GM! This was fun!
Reznor Misraria |
Thanks very much, it was good fun.
Boon: 1d20 ⇒ 17
Apalah Blackfang |
OMG Angela!
The amount of paperwork! Most pathfinders will be running for the hills lol.
Angela Isafira |
Meh, it's only three forms, one of which is completely optional, one of which you'd be expected to submit something along those lines (I mean Venture-Captains would want a debriefing) and the third you could forgo if you didn't want money back for your travel expenses.
GM Nomadical |
Speaking of paperwork....
I've reported the session.
Chronicles are available here. Please let me know if I made any errors.
Reznor wins the boon with a high roll of 17! I'll PM you for contact info.
Thanks for being such an awesome table. That was my 60th reported* session, thereby officially making me a 3-star GM. Yeah!
Apalah Blackfang |
Congrats on being a 3-star GM!!!
