Sir Miguel de Saavedra
|
OK, time to make some introductions. Miguel is a Grippli Druid but a rather unusual one. He spends all of his time in the form of a medium air elemental and is always impeccably dressed. He is peerhaps the most urbane, witty, charming and convincing Druid to ever leave the Mwangi Expanse. He is an annointed Knight of Taldor, the Baron of Zimar and truly believes that one day he will whisk away Prncess Eutropia to join him in the birthing pools of his homeland in the Kaava Lands.
As an annointed Knight Miguel of course goes nowhere without his trusty steed, the enormous tyrannosaur Panza. Miguel holds a seat in the Imperial Senate and has often attended with Panza, much to the distress of the staff. Few dare say anything to him however with Panza looming over them with a mouth full of massive teeth.
Despie his cultured outlook Miguel has not forgotten his roots and is an accomplished summoner of the mighty beats of his homeland. In battle he often calls up multiple massive dinosaurs to harry the enemy.
Sir Miguel de Saavedra
|
Miguel can train up to 7 agents and provide a +4 bonus to any one skill for the duration of the adventure. He normally picks Diplomacy but can be convinced to choose something else.
Rallas Linnderil
|
Rallas is a combat rogue, with a splash of slayer and brawler. skill monkey, and can use wands effectively. and it's freaking awesome to have a t-rex with the party
Lucifer Belthrue
|
Lucifer is a skill-monkey rogue. I built him to be ideal for dungeon exploration and other ruins.
He was in a dedicated Emerald Spire run, did level 1-7. Unfortunately the GM passed a way and we couldn't finish that run.
Puurrupup
|
Puurrupup is another grippli from the Mwangi expanse, but he doesn't transform into anything nor have a T-rex! He's a fiend-keeper; a very important role for a Grippli and he takes it seriously, hunting fiends whereever he can find them and siphoning off the portion of the fiend he's been entrusted with as a power source.
He's a bard-like marshall focused medium who mostly spends his turns giving out inspiring calls (a boost to attack and damage or saves), but sometimes he shoots things with his evil-outsider bane pistol too. If you participate in his seance at the start of each day you can gain your choice of one of the following boons that last all day:
Archmage - Your damaging spells deal an additional 2 points of damage of the same type that they would normally deal to each target.
Champion - You gain a +2 bonus on all non-spell damage rolls.
Guardian - You gain a +1 bonus to CMD.
Hierophant - Your healing spells and abilities heal an additional 2 points of damage to each target. This does not affect healing conferred by magic items, nor does it add to fast healing or similar effects.
Trickster - Choose one skill when you gain this seance boon. You gain a +1 bonus on skill checks using that skill, and that skill counts as a class skill for you.
He can also use his spirit surge on the rolls of his allies who participated in his seance and fail an attack roll, skill check, saving throw, ability check or concentration check within 30 feet (provided he has line of sight and effect). This allows them to add an amount to that check that may turn it into a success, though he can only do this a limited amount of times per day. This can be a bit tricky in play-by-post, but I mostly try to announce when he's willing to use it and roll it in a spoiler so the GM can add it to a check if needed.
He's quite diplomatic already so he wouldn't turn down a +4 bonus!

Welcome everyone, I hope you all will enjoy this scenario. I'll try to get a feel for everyone's level of role-play involvement and interaction and not try to rush the encounters. When combat does occur, I hope everyone can commit to checking and posting on a daily basis.
My own PbP combat style is to try and respect initiative order in resolving actions rather than just simple posting order (unless the sequence of events would benefit significantly otherwise). I'll roll initiatives at the start and some saves (or opportunity attacks) if they will affect my further actions in the turn to keep things moving.
Make sure you roll for your actions in the order they occur in your turn. (Requested saves first and please do critical confirmations either immediately after the threatening roll or at the end of your attack sequence. Just be consistent. I will do the first method.)
Make sure you keep your tagline updated with the current value for your Saves, Perception, Initiative, and Armor Classes, considering your spells cast. Treat it as your verbal response if I were to ask you what the value was in a face to face game, because that is how I'll treat it. But don't worry about conditional modifiers like cover or prone, I'll handle that stuff.
Feel free to ask about anything in the discussion threads or if you think I've ruled incorrectly or made a mistake. You likely know your character better than I will. I'll make corrections as necessary, but I think we all know there are still some rules that are up to the GM's discretion. Also, let me know if you need to take a short break from the game for any reason.
This will be high tier with the 4-player adjustment for this group

I forgot to mention that Puurrupup has a boon allowing him to channel the Marshall spirit anywhere, and that he'll be taking the leave-none-behind taboo

@GM Erich - My character has some 22 hour buffs up from last night (say at 11 PM) and one 9 hour buff that he cast once they left the ship today.
What time of day is it approximately so I can know if the buffs are still up. He can track time in-game by casting and re-casting cantrips with a known duration.
GM Erich
|
It is some time after dusk, so let's say close to 8 PM. You arrived to Averaka at noon. So all your buffs are up (but not for too much longer)

Hi all, putting the relevant text from Hunter's Blessing here so we dont miss it. One key thing, we all get a +2 sacred bonus to initiative.
Targets of the spell gain a +2 sacred bonus on Bluff, Perception, Sense Motive, and Survival checks attempted against creatures of the selected type, and a +2 sacred bonus on attack rolls and damage rolls made against creatures of that type.
Furthermore, they gain a +2 sacred bonus on initiative checks, Perception, Stealth, and Survival checks while they are in the type of terrain you designate.
Also, just to check, is it going to be dark when we reach the dam? How are people set for darkvision?
Xilt Sphinx
|
It is not actually dark. It is only Dim light. My character and familiar have Dark vision so we are good. :)
@GM Erich- I will post all my buffs today but I am pressed for time right now. :)
Lucifer Belthrue
|
Being a Wayang, Lucifer has a Darkvision of 60'.
Xilt Sphinx
|
I am assuming that we currently in the Mountains and I am adding in the appropriate bonuses from Hunter's Blessing. We are in the mountains now are we not?
Xilt Sphinx
|
Guys are we going to try to parley with the giants or not? I don't want to throw a fireball and latter regret it. :)
Endrin of Manar
|
My sense is no as they are on active war footing with our companions. But hey, I'm a fireball kind of guy too 8)
GM Erich
|
From your talks with the councilors, I can confirm the war footing. That is, after all, what you were brought here for - as highly skilled mercenaries.
Almaas Kargar
|
Ok. I placed my icon and am ready to fight.
Puurrupup
|
Puurrupup uses the inspiring call power of the Marshal Spirit which gives a competence bonus equal to his spirit bonus to attack and damage to his allies for one round.
Normally a level 7 medium has a spirit bonus of +2, but he has the spirit focus (marshal) feat which increases that to +3. In addition his archetype lets him temporarily increase his spirit bonus by 1 (to +4) by gathering power as a full round action. Next level he'll be able to go to +5
It's not until medium level 11 that inspiring call can be done as a move action though so it will remain costly for his whole PFS career.
GM Erich

Yes, another awkward Paizo rule. That rule says "In cases where the skill restricts who can achieve certain results, such as trying to open a lock using Disable Device, you can’t aid another to grant a bonus to a task that your character couldn’t achieve alone." Doesn't specify hitting the DC specifically, so it seems to be referring to being trained and able to use the skill. Never actually seen anyone implementing it any more rigid than that.
Xilt Sphinx
|
My character was thinking of casting Haste but that seems so unnecessary now. :)
Poor Ettin.
Almaas Kargar
|
Hello GM, I always forget to mention that Almaas has CLUSTERED SHOTS so all damage is pooled before considering DR.
Xilt Sphinx
|
It was too bad that my character ran out of cash. I was planning on picking up some miscellaneous healing scrolls for him to UMD (Remove Fear, Remove Sickness, Delay Poison, etc). Poor Panza . :)
GM Erich

We are quickly nearing the end of the scenario, feel free to roll your Day Jobs or conduct any other post scenario business.
Almaas Kargar

profession merchant : 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (10) + 13 = 23
Thanks a lot GM!
Lucifer Belthrue

No Day Job roll here.
Xilt Sphinx
|
Xilt's day job minimum Gold reward is 50 gold due to being with the Exchange. Hopefully he will do better.
Craft-Alchemy: 1d20 + 19 ⇒ (13) + 19 = 32
He will also check off a box on his reward card for resolving a combat encounter nonviolently (with the Trolls).
Sir Miguel de Saavedra
|
After they return to Averaka Miguel seeks a private audience with Councillor Korvak to impress upon him the benefits of co-operating with the Sovereign Court.
This is a DC28 diplomacy check for my faction card which I cannot fail
Following which he waves goodbye to his compaions and employs transport via plants to return to his estates outside of Oparra. There he wines and dines a variety of nobles at his hunting lodge.
Day Job, survival: 1d20 + 27 ⇒ (16) + 27 = 43
GM Erich

Thank you all for playing, I hope you enjoyed the scenario. I'll hold out a bit for the last few Day Job rolls, but will try to get out the chronicles by tomorrow.
Feel free to roleplay any exit you wish to in Gameplay. I'll close the thread in a few days.
Happy adventuring everyone!

Puurrupup puts a small box on a street in Absalom and tells passers by of the crack team he led into the heart of Thassilonian ruin, beset by giants.

Thanks for running GM!

Thanks for running GM Erich, well done!
Endrin does some work locally with the organization of defenses and more troop movements.
Prof Soldier: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (14) + 4 = 18

Thanks for running. I was hoping for one last encounter after the ward but then it was all over. :)
