Hello all!

Welcome to the Mummy's Mask! Theres a mix of roleplayers among us, but I am sure we will all get along famously.

Please do discuss among yourselves

a)Who you are/any alterations you want to make to your characters now selected to balance out the party.

b)How you are all connected to be able to join the lottery to adventure into the necropolis together. Its vital you are all a group already. This could be a mixture or previous acquaintances and newly hired members or we can have you "employed" by somebody on their behalf if you prefer. The possibilities are endless!

@Jazadi: since we're both from Alkenstar shall we tie together a little bit? Apprenticed in the Gunworks at around the same time? Or ran into each ohter when Jazadi and her parents were out on a dig? Either way, coming north together probably makes sense and gives the group a nucleus.

Say'ri is lucky when she plays cards, so if she won off any/all of you she coud easily have called in markers to "join my team for the lottery" rather than take your coin? Might be the single easiest way of doing it?

Hey everyone!

Honored to have been selected among such fierce competition; thanks Inara! I know that I'm a bit new compared to some of you but I'll do my absolute best :)

Since the AP assumes we start out as a group I'll hold back my first post until that's sorted out. However, I'm, technically ready to go whenever.

Ammon is a native from Wati, and divides his time between hiring himself out as armed muscle and being a preacher trying to promote worship of the Ancient Osiriani gods. For jobs, he prefers those that have some component of moral high ground. There are a few ways I could see him joining a party:

-Someone approached him on the street during one of his sermons and showed some genuine interest for the ancient gods. Conversation could have moved to an intent to join the Wati exploration lottery. He would join based on a desire to reclaim ancient relics of his country. Actually, he'd confidently state that any group taking him is *assured* to get in, because he's convinced that the same gods favor him.

-People met him at a bar sometime during his downtime. He's no stranger to drinks. Could be that he lost some money during the card game and that someone promised to pay him back if he stuck around. We can't all be super lucky at the same table! :) If the conversation moved to the above topics he'd be hard to get rid off, too. Well, so long as everyone appears similarly competent!

-Someone specifically went looking for hired muscle. He has a decent reputation among both honest and nefarious circles so he could have been picked up there. He'd accept an offer of a fair share of relics and gold.

Appearance/Personality

Tall for a cat-folk, Uthe stands at five foot two inches and has the coloring of a snow-leopard. With larger than normal ears and eyes of shimmering gold, she gives a distinct kittenish appearance. Depending on her fur to conceal her modesty, she doesn't normally wear anything else in the form of clothes. A simple belt worn bandolaro-fashion has her bag attached to the back and a dagger sheath on the front. Bells dangling from piercings in her ears and hanging from her tail give her gait a jingling accompaniment.

While presenting an innocent and playful demeanor, she's very intelligent and has no qualms about using people's perceptions of her to her own advantage. Perhaps this is a trait carried over from her nymph blood - perhaps not.

Background

Uthe earned herself a degree at the prestigious Magaambya academy in Nantambu, learning magical traditions dating back to Old-Mage Jatembe. After a disagreement with some of her peers regarding the proper way to store ink - it wasn't her fault valuable texts were kept below the ink cupboard - she's decided to part company with the academy and self-educate.

That self-education has led her to Wati and the lottery. As she got to know the city before entering the heavily publicized exploration lottery, she found herself in a card game with other like-minded individuals. Unfortunately for her, the game included Say'ri Al Bashere, a very vexing naked-skinned human who ended up with most of her funds.

Promising to return her lost coin if Uthe joins with her group in the lottery, the sorceress reluctantly agreed. Her reluctance stems entirely from her annoyance with the cocky human. It has absolutely nothing to do with any attraction she might have to the stinky human. Because humans are stinky and stupid. And stinky.

Although, this one smells mostly of cinnamon.

Dhakira is a sturdy dark skinned dwarf whose black hair is done with more than a dozen precise braids decorated with pins of beaded leather in the shape of spirals. She also wears a silver spirale around her neck, on top of the black tunic covering her armor. Her face radiates wisdom and pride, but the laugh lines around her eyes lines show that she can have a good time and make her quite charismatic.
She’s lived all her life in Erekrus, where the Pahmet dwarves watch over the toombs of two acient pharaohs and their descendents. Actually, Dhakira is descendent of the pharaoh Menedes and she’s the fifth of her name. But she the fifth child in her family, and thinks that she won’t be able to rise in the church of Pharasma up to the destiny that the Lady of the Graves herself has predicted to Dhakira through one of her envoys, if she stays in the necripolis.
When she heard about the Wati necropolis being opened to exploration, she tought it would a good occasion to fight undead, make sure that the « dead dead » were respected and make a name for herself. So she left Erekrus and travelled to Wati, hoping to be able to join a team that would win the lottery.
When she reached Wati, she tossed a silver piece to one of the guards at the entrance, asking her where she had a chance to meet adventurers looking for team members. The guard directed her to a tavern where she joined a card game, hoping to get to meet future teammates. Annoyingly, the instigator of the game, Say’ri Al Bashere, seemed really lucky, and Dhakira lost a good amount of gold, same as the innocent looking cat-folk, sitting next to her.
When Say’ri offered to give back the money in exchange for joining her team, Dharika jumped on the occasion to get her money back and get on a team all in one swoop. She’d rather have Say’ri luck on her side and was growing fond of the cat in spite of herself. And the big guy seemed competent enough to protect them.

Say'ri is one of my oldest aliases, so I can't actually remember. I probably got Bashere from WoT, but I think I made Say'ri up. Or at least I can't think where I would have got the name from otherwise.

Background: Jamie Vernisant was destined for greatness! At least, that's what everybody told him growing up. The nephew of Earl Calhadion Vernisant of Taldor, Jamie's early years were filled with carefully edited tales of glory and adventure starring the members of the noble family, self-proclaimed descendants of the legendary General Arnisant who defeated the Whispering Tyrant centuries ago. (The truth of the Vernisant family's fall from grace was never uttered, of course!) So it was only natural that when Jamie came of age, he set off on his own to start forging his own legend.

He journeyed to the deserts of Osirion, waving around his shiny new sword and accompanied only by his favorite household servant, a halfling woman named Nell. He purchased the first treasure map he found in the bazaars of Sothis and set off to plunder the riches of a long-forgotten pyramid!

When Nell dropped dead from a necromantic trap just inside the pyramid's entrance, Jamie probably should have taken it as a bad sign. But he barely paused to mourn the halfling before stepping over her corpse and plunging on into the tomb! He made it all of fifty yards further on before a burrowing ankhrav burst out from its hiding spot and closed its acidic jaws around his neck. There was a sickening crunch, the smell of his own melting flesh, and then Jamie's story came to an abrupt end.

...at least, it should have. But Jamie's soul was too stubborn to die. After all, he was destined for greatness! He could not move on to the Great Beyond with so much potential unfulfilled! And so, through sheer force of will (and perhaps some latent psychic talent), he dragged himself back from the brink to the world of the living once more.

The ankhrav had devoured his body, leaving nothing but bones behind, and so his soul sought refuge in the closest available empty vessel. It came as a great shock, of course, when he opened his eyes to discover he was now in the body of Nell!

Adjusting to a new size, ancestry, and gender all at once has been quite the difficult task. But Jamie has discovered his soul is now receptive to all of the potential paths to power that he always dreamed of. Depending on how he focused his will, he could be a mighty wizard, a powerful cleric, a brave warrior, or a tricky rogue. He has journeyed to Wati to learn more about his newfound role in the world...

Appearance and Personality: Jamie's original body is long gone, and he now finds himself occupying the body of his former servant, the halfling Nell. Nell was large for a halfling, in both height and girth, standing 3'4" tall and weighing close to 40 pounds. She had curly blonde hair, blue eyes, a full figure, and a kind smile, traits which attracted Jamie to her from a young age. His attachment to her ulitmately proved her downfall.

Jamie carries herself with the confident swagger of a Taldan noble. When adventuring, she wears practical but fashionable clothes adorned with numerous tools and weapons, as she never knows what sort of potential she will channel each day. The word "subtletly" is not in her vocabulary, and everything she does seems to be an attempt to draw attention to herself and to glorify her own deeds. Despite herself, her grandstanding in such a petite form gives the former nobleman a certain inadvertent charm, and most people tend to find her adorable rather than insufferable, though there is a thin line in between the two!

@Ammon: if I may make a suggestion. You could change your tavern to the Tooth and Hookah? That one features in the AP plot so having been there already might be helpful? :)

If not no worries. Say'ri needs a guide to the best watering holes in town.

I'm thinking about doing a minor edit to my stat sheet since I appear to be the main tank and melee. I could drop charisma to 7 (Normally not a fan, I'd agree) and raise dex to 14, take a drawback trait (secret shame - hides criminal past, has -1 will vs fear) and select student of philosophy (refluffed to Oratory) to allow him to make diplomacy and bluff checks to raise attitude of others to him based on int instead of cha.

This could make him a better tank and combatant and fix the issue that he'd normally never be able to convert anyone to a new religion with either 7 or 8 cha.

Alternatively I could drop int to 10 and keep 8 cha to avoid a slight cheese factor but my skills would suffer a bit.

...Yeah, I'll just go with 10 int instead of 12 to prevent cheese.

Say'ri is going to be a tank for the first few levels. Shooting her gun is too expensive right now, so she'll be at the front with a shield and rapier. So don't feel too bad, but I'm glad I've got someone on the frontlines with me.

So, i dont have discord acceas atm but the situation seems pretty bad atm. I'm at 2 hp and jazadi is at 0 and thus staggered. Additionally, i can't make use of my reach weapon at all from this square with the pillars in the way.

The best i can come up with is having the entire party withdraw behind the doors we came in and placing Ammon at the front there so be could make AoO's when the bugs follow. But someone would have to drag or heal Jazadi out because she can't withdraw when staggered.

Anyine have a better plan?

The injured folk should pull back a little and Dhakira needs to channel, ideally keeping the spiders out of its radius. That should do it. :) We still have plenty of HP between us and if Uthe can fire off a MM or something like that we'll be fine. :)

I will finish summoning and leave my summon in the room, then withdraw and channel. I’ve asked Inara to change my Cleansing Burst for Selective Channel after the fight and she said yes.

Ah, sorry. I think i misread your luck pool as hp. When i get home il use my turn to withdraw to the door opening or just behind it to establish a chokepoint of some kind. Perhaps someone dragging the scorpions injured immediate target away in front of him would still be a good idea, though?

Overall: Going with my original idea of sanctified slayer inquisitor. The ravener hunter adds a mystery instead of a domain and I chose battle to make him as martial as possible. Took falcata proficiency for the x3 crits fun factor. Took shield focus over dodge since it's a requirement for unhindering shield later and always active.
