Have to say, I enjoyed that fight! Really liked having a necromancer flying around throwing undead at us. Very cool. :)

Yhrrilka |

Agree with Torsten, required no small amount of effort/hustle on our part.

Yhrrilka |

Hey GM, it's time for Felix's random question of the day! The category is "Background Feats."
Prerequisites: Acrobatics 1 rank, Athletics 1 rank, racial bonus to Dexterity.
Does that bonus have to explicitly be to Dex, like the way an Elf has it, or can it be done by a race like a half-orc (points to self) that puts its "+2 to any one" to Dex? I forget how I built Ril out, but I'm like 90% sure I did it that way, which would then qualify her for this feat. I'll reverse-engineer her to make sure if you'd like me to.
Everyone have a good day.

Yhrrilka |

GM, I have two issues I need to address the next time we level.
First, when I leveled to 4 and picked up the Warleader Sphere, I forgot that it gives you free ranks in Diplomacy (Influence in our case). So the next time I level up, I'd like to reallocate the 4 ranks Ril currently has in that. (I'll get freebies 1/level through level 10, with a few more coming if I pick up another talent in that Sphere.)
Second, I know I've gone back and forth on this, but I'd like to once again put the Limited Protection drawback in place. I have never cast a Ward yet, and I just don't have the Talents to spare to make them useful. I'd just as soon stick with the Aegis talents, if you're amenable.

Yhrrilka |

It's all good on my end, I promise! Thanks for the responses; I've spent the past week or so beating a proper build into her character sheet (Grumbaki can testify to this, I was soliciting opinions from him most of last week), so I can have a bit less if that helpless "OMG, what is she doing" feeling. :D

Yhrrilka |

Hmmm,
OK, there's about a 15' wide space at the north end of the room. Simplest thing I've got is we just head in there three abreast (west to east, me/Torsten/Maca), Macaria and I open fire, and Torsten does his best to keep it off us if it tries to get grabby?
Anyone want to improve on that hasty bit?

Torsten Runeforger |

Yhrrilka |

I'm at my kid's baseball game, so if someone can move us into position, we can start the music. Or if GM wants to move us where we get to before all hell breaks loose. :)

Yhrrilka |

I moved us all into position. GM, what do you need from us to start the music?

Macaria |

(looks at Macaria's header) Good lord, you've certainly got SP to spare! Makes me feel like a slacker. :)
Yeah. Same as a double caster gestalt would have lots of slots (but would be limited by the actual spells he can cast), a double spherecaster gestalt has lots of spell points (but is limited by the actual effects he can produce).

Yhrrilka |

Aha. I'd missed the part where your cleric part is spherecasting as well. Makes much more sense now.

Macaria |
1 person marked this as a favorite. |

And when you mention you're a Pharasmite, you realise your Domain is not one of those your deity offers, lol.
Gonna have a look and see how I fix this.

Yhrrilka |

And when you mention you're a Pharasmite, you realise your Domain is not one of those your deity offers, lol.
(checks character sheet)
"Water?!?!?" XD

Loot
Scroll - identify
Scroll - command undead
MW studded leather armor (175)
Alchemist's Lab
Vermin Repellent x3
Tanglefoot Bag x2
Black Adder Venom x4
hybridization funnel (200)
Silversheen x2
handy haversack
Potion - invisibility
Scroll - false life
Scroll - dispel magic
---------------------------------------------------
Assuming for the moment that we are keeping the consumables and the handy haversack. Everything else is sold. Therefore it is:
Sell!: 4 + 250 + 2500 + 2400 + 1250 + 152 + 175 + 200 = 6931 3465.5
Gold: 3465 + 350 + 700 + 38 + 300 = 4853 4753.5 / 3 = 1584.5 each...+80 for the black adder venom which I forgot to add into the above. So 1664.5 each. :P
------------------------------------------------------
Now, for the consumables. I think that it should go like this:
Macaria
* Handy Haversack (Str 10, it will help her carry)
* Scroll Command Undead, Identify, Dispel Magic
* Silversheen
* Vermin Repellant
Yhrrilka
* Potion Invisibility (if scouting goes wrong)
* Scroll False Life (extra survivability on the front lines as she doesn't have healling)
* Vermin Repellant
* Tanglefoot Bag
Torsten
* Vermin Repellant
* Tanglefoot Bag

Yhrrilka |

I'm of half a mind to keep the books and notes. That [bleep] Lamm wasn't home when we called, I'd like to at least go over them long enough to see if there's anything in there that gives a clue to someplace else he might be, or what he's up to. At least long enough to give me a pretext for learning my Deathless Aegis. :)
If you two disagree, I'll buy you two out of your share of that.
PS: Torsten, thanks a TON for doing the napkin-math on the loot. It's felt like I've been spinning in circles for two days.

Macaria |

Maca has no problem with you two keeping the tools. She knows you're not going to use them. She's also happy to help you sell the tunic to the Pharasmite temple, since to her there's not a more secure place to take care of that. The scroll of Command Undead she'll also take it to the Pharasmites.

Torsten Runeforger |

My pleasure! I figure that it was my turn to do the forum diving to get the numbers done.
Also I have no problem with you taking the tools. Will be a wee bit until I get the numbers updated.

Your Benevolent Dictator |

@Macaria: I didn't even think to check domains back when we started the campaign. :-( Easiest fix is to keep everything as is. After all, as Yhrrilka so eloquently put it, "Water?!?!?" XD
Second easiest fix is to switch it for the Repose domain. That's probably the most thematically-appropriate. You'd lose Improved Channel, though, and I'm pretty sure that was one of the main reasons you'd gone with Glory in the first place.
Another possibility is to merge Glory with whatever Pharasman domain you'd be picking. That's the most complicated (mainly due to domain spells) but shouldn't be too hard to work out.

Torsten Runeforger |

I kind of like the idea of having Mac be Water and Ril be Fire. Plus...it's not so much the Water Domain. It's getting power from the River of Souls

Yhrrilka |

I've gotta be honest I don't even know what the inappropriate Domain in question is, I just picked one that sounded least likely to be picked by a Pharasman priest. :)

Macaria |

Yes, I picked Glory to get Improved Channel, but I didn't check at the time Pharasma's Domains. I'll change it to any other that actually is under Her portfolio, just have to find some time to check it out.
Oh, and Ril... Pharasma's Domains are Death, Healing, Knowledge, Repose and Water :)

Macaria |

I'm having a read at the Domains and the Channeler Cleric in general, and a doubt assaults me.
Channel Energy (Su):The divine channeler's channel energy ability increases at 2nd level in addition to the normal progression.
Does that channeling dice increase affect only the cleric's channeling progression? Because the character has actually two channel progressions, one from Soulweaver and another from cleric. It seems obvious that she's using the Soulweaver one, and that will be more certain in the future, since she's never going to multiclass that part of the Gestalt. However, she's not full cleric on the other part, so in the end, if the increase affects only the cleric channeling, that will be a useless feature to her.
Even if it does, I'm carefully rethinking what I'm getting from Channeler Cleric and whether it is worthy to keep it or not.
I don't know. I feel like the interaction between both parts of the Gestalt is a bit... cuestionable, as it is now.

Yhrrilka |

She really has Water? Huh, who knew (not me!). Then assume I said uhh, Scalykind instead. :D

Torsten Runeforger |

Given that it is gestalt, you get the class features from both classes. For channel, I believe that means that you get 2 pools of channeling, each with their own progression. Kind of like how if you are a wizard/cleric gestalt, each would have it's own spellcasting.

Macaria |

Yes, that's what we said, and I think the extra die from Channeler Cleric goes only to his own channeling. Which I gimped by taking two levels in Paladin.
But well, we can just say one thing cancels the other, so now the Cleric Channel has the same dice as the Soulweaver Channel. They're just two separate pools, both affected by Channel Destruction and Channel Life, and one of them affected by Soulweaver features (Blessings/Blights) and the other by Cleric features (Major Channeling, Combat Channeling, etc). Am I right?
So I'll accept just leaving things as they are, as our GM offered, and I'll adjust the avatar and sheet to reflect those two channel pools.

Torsten Runeforger |

1564.5 gold each without books.
Torsten had 2145.3 gold so he now has 3709.8 gold.
------------
One thing that Ril and Mac might be interested in is this:
Requires a feat to make use of the 2x item bonus and a second feat for 3x+, but that shouldn't be an issue in this campaign. For Mac, especially, pursuing the holy items of Pharasma might be something worth doing. Especially as ABP makes it doable to wear items that don't give stat/ac/save/enchantment bonuses.
Also, the beastmaster set is pretty easily attainable with great bonuses. They just don't fit Torsten, otherwise I'd happily grab it myself (stupid sets don't have any tattoo or dwarven related)
——
For Torsten, at lvl5 he will take Inscribe magic tattoo and will then spend 4K gold to inscribe a runeward tattoo for each school of magic. +1 insight bonus to saves vs spells and SLAs and knows when any spell is cast within 60ft. Seems worth it and it is thematic for his magic to stay in tattoo form.

Macaria |

It's a colorful and nice fluff, but Maca won't benefit much from it, and she doesn't have feats to spare until... very late.
1564.5 gold. GM, how much would it cost to restore the old building Maca purchased to be habitable? Or, if it's too costly for her to do it in one go, how could Maca divide the expense in different steps? Like, first the basement and outer walls, then other things, etc.

Your Benevolent Dictator |

@Macaria: I believe you've already purchased the building and filled out all the necessary paperwork. The actual fixing-up of the place will cost 1200gp.
In regards to the potential character rework, another possibility is swapping the Cleric/Paladin levels for Warpriest. You'd replace the Vancian spells with spherecasting and keep most of your martial capabilities. You also wouldn't have to deal with keeping track of two separate channel pools.

Macaria |

Martial capabilities? Where? :P
Na, seriously. I picked a pair of Paladin levels to give Maca some defense, and they're staying. Actually, everything's staying, for better or for worse. If you rule I have to change the Domain, so be it, but if you let me have it, I'll keep it. Mostly because I don't feel like modifying the character too much.
Maca is totally not a fighter, she's got near nonexistant martial capabilities, and that's not really the plan. My iriginak idea for a character was one that I have been looking for for years, but it consisted of a "martially strong character with magic to enhance his fighting skills". However, this would have made three very similar characters, so that's why I ended up with Maca. And she's okay. Only that, unlike healing, damage dealing through Channel starts going up with some more levels (and tons of feats). At 7th level, for example, she'll be able to spend a couple spell points and deal a 7d8 damage burst. Twice per round.
PS: If you want to know what my first idea would have been, have a look at the Sage and add Conscript as the second part of the Gestalt.

Torsten Runeforger |

I’m glad Macaria is sticking to her guns. I look forward to seeing her turn into an AOE monster who can clear rooms with her spell points.

Your Benevolent Dictator |

We can proceed whenever everyone's ready. Depending on what you do during your downtime day, I'll likely need Craft (tattoo) rolls and/or money expenditures. We can also RP any relevant subplots that you're interested in pursuing. Or we can skip straight to the main action; it's entirely up to you. XD

Macaria |

Yes, Maca will spend the money to get the works started. As hiring some builders has little thrill, imho, I think we can skip it unless you have something planned to ruin the poor kids' future :P

I was hoping to get in a day at the Zellara's Mark, but would the sell-off take that time, or can the latter be done the current day leaving straight away from Marshal Kroft's offices?
(I have to look up the spelling of her last name every. Flipping. Time.)

Yhrrilka |

Of the three images you posted, the first one gets a 403 error.

Torsten Runeforger |

THE WAXWORKS (Person dangling over a vat of boiling wax? Macaria. She has the most to lose and the most to protect given the sorry state the city is in)
THE BRASS DWARF Torsten. Has to be. I mean, look at him! But it also shows the danger of being too content given what is coming in the background.
THE DESERT Ril might be just sitting there chilling. But LOOK OUT BEHIND YOU!

I should be a fortune teller.

Your Benevolent Dictator |

Grrr....
There aren't good images of all the Harrow cards, unfortunately. Try THIS ONE

Macaria |

Grrr....
There aren't good images of all the Harrow cards, unfortunately. Try...
Not working either, sorry.
Anyways:
The Waxworks
This is the chaotic evil card of constitution. It represents a place of torture, imprisonment, helplessness, and paralysis.
The Brass Dwarf
This is the lawful neutral card of constitution, showing an azer. It represents a creature invulnerable to a current threat.
The Desert
This is the chaotic good card of constitution. It represents an environment too difficult for anyone to survive without help. The sphinx may represent a source of salvation from plague.
Maybe we're pushing ourselves too deep into dangerous ground without help because there's an invulnerable enemy that will have us captured and tortured? I don't know, honestly :P

Yhrrilka |

GM, quick question.
Mithril weapons are priced out by weapon weight in lbs. A kerambit has no listed weight. I figure it'd count as either 1, or maybe 0.5 lbs for such purposes. Got an opinion?
And a Happy Mother's Day to anyone in your lives for whom it applies!
EDIT: money updated as per Torsten's totals, but I have 1 or 2 things to buy soon that will deplete some of that (the aforementioned mithril kerambit is one). Gameplay post tonight time permitting.

Yhrrilka |

After some serious overthinking of the matter because that's what I do, I think a legit case can be made that even though a kerambit might weigh 0.5 lb, a mithral one should be priced out at 500. Because it's also masterwork, getting it at 250 seems like an excessive discount. Cheaper to get a mithral kerambit than a regular MW one.
Either way I'll deduct cost for both that and my contribution presently. (I'd like your say-so to put the weapon on inventory.)

Yhrrilka |

In which case, I knocked Ril's cash total down by 802: 300 for the donation to Dawnflower House and 502 for a mithral kerambit. I'm going to hold off noting that weapon as mithral on my sheet until such time as I get a positive notification from you on that, GM.
EDIT: thanks! (scribbles "mithral" on monitor)
