Not sure if that failure to break grapple cancels the AoO...

Possible AoO:

Taking advantage of Walnut occupying the thing's attention (grappled creatures can't take AoO's), Caladorn moves to a position where he can flank the creature, and stabs again.

He will then try to get into the fray with his hammer!

Congratulations! You have defeated the creature and advanced to Level 2.

Walthus responds to Caladorn's question:

"I think I can walk ok - but I will probably go a little slower than usual. A good nights rest should be enough to put me right."

As they walk back, Filona suggests "Well, we should magically heal Walthus. Navigating the swamp will get us tired and we may have to rest, which recovers any magical healing used."

About the ring, she says "We could ask around town in Sandpoint to see if anyone knows this ring. Maybe the mayor will. For now, let's focus on helping Walthus."

Wayfinders

Walthus lets you know that he has a couple of healing potions hidden away at his house. He bought them from the caravan that took you back to Sandpoint. You don't have to worry about slowing down for his health.

You are pretty sure that Father Zantus might be able to tell you about the ring once you get back to Sandpoint.

I think Walthus is the only one hurt... I suspect that if we go pick up the skeletons' trail, we will end up resting before we get to the end of it, unless we want to try following them in the dark (I do not recommend)

(timeline: left sandpoint with caravan in the morning, went to Walthus's house, waited an hour, found and rescued walthus... need to return to Walthus's house, then go to the goblin village. I'm guessing that we get to the goblin village at 1500+, then we have to trail them...)

Wayfinders

"I'd be willing to head directly to the goblin village now if that is what you want to do."

If Gundar heals Walthus he will reply

"Thanks again! I think I am in good enough shape to hold off on retrieving my potions."

Walthus looks over the mound built by the creature thinking about something and after a moment he perks up with

"I think I might be able to use some of the wood/mud/muck used to put this 'hut' together to build a crude raft. It would allow us to get to the village much quicker. Does anyone here any have skill building rafts who might be able to assist me?"

A Survival check of 15+ will aid Walthus in construction and reduce its construction time. Multiple aid attempts can be made to further reduce the time. Construction time = 2 hrs, each successful aid reduces the time by 30 min to a 30 min minimum.

With everyone assistance the raft creation goes extremely fast and creates a sturdy platform that can hold the entire group in only 30 minutes.

You set out towards the goblin village using the water as the fastest mode of travel.

GM Only:

You navigate up a small tributary and land the raft without incident.

Walthus looks pleased as they arrive at what is now a stream and watches you pull the raft from the water.

"Well that went extremely well. Couldn't have done that by myself. We might be able to use it again, it looks to be in good shape."

You are now about 100 feet from the New Fish trail and the village is within sight. You need to decide if you want to carry the raft with you or leave it here. You estimate it weighs about 100 pounds. Caladorn guesses the trip only took another 30 minutes.

M Elf Rogue (Unchained, Rake) 1 Wizard 1 (smoke)| HP 15/15 | AC 14/13/11 | F+3/R+7/W+3 | Init+7 | Perc+7 Lowlight Vision

Do we have the muscle to carry the raft with us? I certainly don't have a lot of carrying capacity to spare (10 Str = 33 lbs light load...) and several of us are small (3/4 carrying capacity)... Although in a metagame sense, I suspect a hint here...

Wayfinders

Nothing special about the raft. Not even mentioned in the AP. Wasn't sure how much Walnut could drag/pull, so I left the choice up to you. It isn't required to accomplish your objectives, but it has its own advantages and disadvantages.

"Well, I ain't carrying it. So if Walthus want's it, lets drag it far enough onto the shore that it won't float away, and then let's get going on with tracking these skeletons - we got four hours of light left maybe (I'm guessing it's about 1400), so let's get on with it... Walthus, you're by far the most experienced in the marsh, so can you follow the trail?"

Caladorn will help drag the raft to a safe spot to leave it.

Tracking though, is not Caladorn's gig... Walthus is probably our best tracker, and I think Posh has second place.

How big (wide and deep) is the river ? I doubt it's fast (it's in a swamp), but? The map suggests that the river is large - 300 ft or so across... So I think we might have to.

"Erhghm" Caladorn groans at the thought of the manual labor involved and then agrees "I think we have to, a couple of hundred feet with god knows what in the water with us is not something I'm comfortable swimming."

Assuming the others agree, we will go back and get the raft. If Gundar and I work together we can carry it as a medium load I believe. I can take 33 lbs to the top of medium load, and Gundar (whose speed isn't affected by load as he is a dwarf), can take the remaining 67, assuming he's at a medium load now.
