Filona walks inside with a wide smile and doesn't really hear Gundar's question. She immediately starts looking at the woodwork and, without asking for permission, starts repairing any structural damage on the wood.

She's a carpenter. While she will have Know Engineering in the future, for now, she'll just stick to carpenting.

Craft (carpentry): 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (16) + 6 = 22

Then, she looks at Baradim, hoping he will realize that this is a good time to present the captured mice as a gift.

After a while working, she annoyingly asks Walthus "Hi, are you in some type of trouble here? Maybe we can help you! I mean, I love kicking bullies."

Wayfinders

"Thank you for your work on the door - you are much better at wood working than I. The goblins down the Old Fish Trail are your best chance at kicking bullies."

Baradim ducks his head, still watching the halfling with suspicion but not letting it appear on his face. The inside was cramped to a degree but it was no worse than the deep caves used to be. His eyes look the area over carefully now, the squeaks coming from his pouch growing louder now.

"We brought you a gift; a pocketful of mice. You have...something...for them?" Baradim's eyes flickered over the state of the room, giving it a once-over now. The halfling was injured a moment ago, kept pushing them to the goblins, and wanted them gone. Such tactics were common among hermits and those who had secrets. He wondered which one it would be. "Maybe something over here? Or...or...over here?" Baradim stumbled around carefully, using his helpfulness as an excuse to look the room over for anything strange.

Filona offers her best "poker face" as she notices something odd about the halfling. She excuses herself and goes outside for some lady issues. Once outside, she focuses on the magic she learned in Magnimar. After saying the special words and performing the motions, she can see magical auras. Then she comes back inside.

Much previously...

Caladorn had found his older 1/2 sister, and asked "Shalelu, I know we aren't close, but I want to get on with Sandru's caravan to Tian. You're kin, can you put in a good word for me?"

The lovely ranger looked at her younger 1/2 sibling, the black sheep of the Andosana family. She knew he'd been down in Magnimar seeking his fortune and getting into god knows what trouble. Now here he was in Sandpoint, looking to go far way indeed... It didn't take genius to realize he wasn't telling her everything. She wasn't going to drop a freeloader on he friend Sandru either. If the boy wasn't family, this wouldn't be her problem, dammit...

She replied to him: "To make a long trek like that, he hires on people with skills and proven experience Caladorn. If you want to impress him enough to get signed on, you're going to have to bring something to the table... Still, there might be way. Did you know the town has reinstated the goblin ear bounty? 10 Gold for an ear, and 300 for the head of the Licktoad tribe's chief, Gutwad. Sandru might be impressed with a good showing. But don't try that on your own, you'd get yourself killed and your mother would blame me. Mind, there was a group of young'uns that went off to the Brinestump Marsh to find the goblins - you might catch up with them, they were going to visit the halfling hermit of the marsh, Walthus for information. Follow the new fish trail, it'll take you too his shack. They had a gnome and a dwarf with them, so you should find it pretty easy to catch up with them."

"Well Shalelu, if that's the only game in town...", Caladorn hoisted his gear and set off, hustling in pursuit of the party...

Now...

Caladorn looked at the old two story building. It had clearly seen better days, its walls soggy with moss and its roof sagging with age. The mule hobbled outside told him that he had caught up with the would be goblin hunters.

I am assuming the riding weasel is inside with Posh. I have placed myself on the map...

Wayfinders

@Baradim Normally I would use the block initiative as sometimes players can take a while to act and others want to get their actions posted during combat quickly. Since this is the first combat and the group dynamics haven't been established yet, I am going to allow things to occur where initiative order matters.

@Filona I am going to say you took a 5' step to get back into the room, used your move action to draw your crossbow (already loaded) and then fired at the creature. The creature benefits from the cover of your allies and you suffer a penalty for shooting into melee.

Filona finds it difficult to shoot into the cluster of creatures in the center of the main room. Caladorn moves in front of the creature as she prepares her shot and doesn't want to hit her allies so her bolt fires high and misses the aberration.

@Caladorn We will wait to see if Gundar moves into a flanking position and if so, I will apply your sneak attack damage. Since he is going before you, if he does move, he cannot benefit from the flanking bonus.

Caladorn backhands the creature with his spiked gauntlet striking him in the area where its face should be. The blow draws blood and the creature hisses at Caladorn.

Baradim looks at the abomination that was once a halfling and stumbles up to his feet, trying to dodge the same claws that had taken his life before. He then takes a step away from it, hoping to get out of the way before reaching for his holy symbol.

The symbol of the Dawnflower hangs from his neck as he winces from pain, lifting it up and praying softly for her flame to reach them. A fire upon the amulet before exploding like a silent nova, ghostly flames passing over all. In himself and in his allies, a warmth would suddenly begin to rise, steeling their resolve and surging energy into their limbs for battle.

I took a move action to stand up. I took a five foot step to exit out of range. I then cast bless upon the party giving a +1 to hit and versus fear.

Seeing the creature is so damaged, Posh decides to keep attacking, but to use the hook on his weapon instead. "Sorry Filona, I'm going to try and kill it..."

Posh challenges it...

Hook Hammer Hit: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (20) + 3 = 23
Hook HammerDamage: 1d4 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 + 1 = 5 x4 P

Hook Hammer Hit: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (7) + 3 = 10
Hook HammerDamage: 3d4 + 3 + 3 ⇒ (4, 4, 2) + 3 + 3 = 16 x4 P

Hmm, that COULD work, with a -2 to AC and no Dex

Round 2

Baradim will take another moment to analyze the enemy, watching how it moves and defends itself. After taking into mind where to best strike at it, the half-orc steps back into the fray and stabs at it with a dagger in hand.

I am going to use studied target on the enemy and then 5ft step closer before hopefully stabbing it after Filona uses her color spray.
Attack: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (17) + 5 = 22Damage: 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2

The blade finds purchase but in a tough, non-vital part of the abomination. Baradim withdraws the dagger and mutters a curse at his inexperience with such a horror.

[ooc]Round 3

Baradim goes and strikes again with his dagger, taking his time to try and aim for another vital part of it.
Attack: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (11) + 5 = 16Damage: 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3
After attacking, he steps back due to his wound's ache. One good swipe and the inquisitor would be down once more.

You know a dagger can slash or pierce!

Wayfinders

Posh's hook end of his weapon finds its mark and gashes the area of where a normal creature would have a face.

Baradim's dagger attacks also strike true, slashing the creature in where its ribs should be - causing the creature to fall into unconsciousness.

Heal DC 10:

The creature is dying.

Corwyn, Are you allowing take 10 on that heal check?

Caladorn looks down at the blood trailing from his forearm, and then at the spatters on the knuckles of spiked gauntlet and mutters "I suppose I got some pre-emptive vengeance..." and then continues in a more normal tone "Hi, I'm Caladorn, I got told there was a party forming up to hunt the goblins; I'm guessing that's you guys. Can I come?"
