I don't suppose that you forgot to include Costin's AC/CMD hex on the earth elemental (and that it would've made that trip succeed)?

I did, indeed, forget to add any effects that may have been in place on the earth elemental. :) Although it was a Grapple, not a trip. (Which means if the Grapple succeeded, it doesnt get any attacks on Fiona this round?) ;P

I thought any debuff to AC also applied to CMD, but I may be misremembering.

Lastwall Heroes - Current Date: Toilday, 31 Desnus, 4711 AR | Shadowrun - Current Date: Saturday, March 13, 2060

So they do. Huh, let's throw that onto the pile of things I've clearly forgotten over time... (Also in the pile is that see that deflection, dodge, insight, morale, profane and sacred bonuses to AC also *boost* CMD. Certainly makes rings of protection even more useful...)

Ok, so, then, the trip actually does succeed because Earth Mastery doesn't apply to trips (only overrun and bull rush, which seems stupid) -- and the augment summoning only gets his CMD to 19, after the hex.

So Fiona doesn't take 17 damage since the AoO happens before the triggering act occurs - that is to say, when dude started to leave the threatened hex, but before he actually leaves it -- so he fall down go boom before he can close and make with the smashy.

Also, she's got a prone earth elemental in reach.

The DM is kind; the DM is merciful.

HP: 10/60

Fiona sees death rushing at her in the form of an angry elemental, and for a split-second she knows it's all over, but as she whips her fauchard at it in a panicked swipe, the blade glows for a moment and she finds the foe on the ground and at her mercy. She breathes a sigh of relief, though her eyes never stop scanning the battlefield as she wonders when the nasty invisible not-a-kitty-cat is going to show itself again.

Returning her attention—for the moment—to the task before her, she steps back again and hacks at the thing on the ground. 5' step back, attack elemental. Not sure if its position on the map is right, but hopefully it won't matter. I think Fiona's flanking with the ant... if not, subtract 2. Attack does not include its prone penalty.

Attack (flank, bless, Power Attack): 1d20 + 9 + 2 + 1 - 2 ⇒ (10) + 9 + 2 + 1 - 2 = 20

Woo, max damage!

I believe it failed, but I see no proof of that in the thread. Weird. Maybe I previewed and never posted and then did the round summary?

I will use the previous roll for the Glitterdust save, since it's already "on file" - so he's blinded.

Finally having the target she's been seeking, Eloen looses an arrow at the glittery/glowing outline moving in the air, watches as the arrow merges with the sparkles, even if the thing doesn't seem to bite as deep as she might have hoped.

Fiona's weapon bites deep into the elemental, punching a hole through it that would have undoubtedly killed any normal flesh-and-blood creature.... but, mounds of rock and dirt don't bleed -- or have organs -- and the elemental continues to move.

Just Sandy left.

Prepared for the boneyard after the bear's last savage attack, Sahar is surprised when none of the bear's attacks land, almost as if some strange force had misdirected its aim. But the terrible damage its teeth and claws inflicted before remains in her memory and on her person. She swiftly heals herself, so that she can stay in the saddle and keep this horror off her wounded and vulnerable companions, even if the bear hits her again. Sharisa take a prancing step to bring her mistress into attack range of the unnatural beast and Sahar hacks at it again, scimitar still glowing with its golden light, the weirdly floating scimitar doing the same.

Round 6 Summary

Taking a lesson from the invisible summoner, Merlan's beasts fight back - the Dog taking a large bite out of the lightning elemental... but, more importantly, he casts a spell that outlines - and blinds - the invisible opponent.... giving Eloen a target that she quickly strikes. Fiona punches a hole through the earth elemental, and Merlan's ant takes advantage of the thing's distractions to take a bite from it, causing it to crumble into a pile of gravel. The blinded summoner conjures an elemental guide and starts to fly what he thinks is 'away' from the threat. Sandy casts a healing spell on Sahar, though a zap from the lightning elemental mitigates the effect somewhat, but Costin's hex prevents the raging bear from connecting. Sahar, in turn, heals herself before cutting into the fiendish furry hide, and Costin maintains the hex while also healing Fiona.

I'm assuming Sandy moved adjacent to Sahar, and the map just isn't updated? I've gone ahead and moved Fiona 20' west based on that assumption... right now that means she's occupying the same space as Sandy. If my assumption is wrong I'll need to double move (prolly around to the north) instead of attacking.

Fiona gives a nod of satisfaction as the earth elemental falls, then turns her attention to the remaining foes... though she still peers around suspiciously, expecting the nasty cat-thing to reappear at any moment. Attacking lightning elemental... not sure if it gets cover from Fido what with Fiona being so big, so I didn't include any. Adjust as adjudicated. :)

Yes? I'm confused, First lvl MM is 100' plus 10' per lvl, so 110' yes? I thought the summoner was closer than that when I counted it off on the map?

(I mean, math was never my strong suit, and counting angles/squares is a pain, but I DID check it more than once!) ;P Meh, not my first mistake, won't be my last. ;)

EDIT- Would a half or more move put him in MM 110' range then? Cuz Merlan should be able to move without attracting any 'unwanted attention' (AoO's) ;)

Things go very poorly for the bad guys, with all of the summons save the bear (and the seeing-eye elemental) popping out of existence, while the swarming mass of heroes takes no damage and continues to heal up what damage they took. The bear is clearly on its last legs, and Costin's hex ensures that it's all but attacking in a blind rage. The summoner keeps trying to fly away, the elemental guiding him, but both Eloen and Merlan pursue, the former sinking another arrowshaft into him as she does.

Female Elf Ranger (guide, trapper) 5 | 56/56 HP | AC 19 T 13 FF 16 | Fort +6 Ref +8 Will +4 | Initiative +3 | Perception +11 (+13 vs. traps) | Ranger's Focus 0/2

Ride: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (14) + 6 = 20

Eloen glances back and sees that Merlan is trying to catch up, but is likely too slow to match the flying summoner. She turns her horse and rides back toward the halfling and in a deft display of horsewomanship, she leans down to one side as she passes to pick up the wizard and deposit him in front of her in the saddle before she turns the horse around and starts moving as fast as she can toward the foe again.

Eloen started 40' from Merlan, and her horse can double move to go 100' in a turn, so she moves 40', picks up Merlan, and then moves 60' back toward the summoner. Flat range to the summoner is now 120' for Merlan & Eloen, not counting elevation.

"Whoop! I mean, YEE-HAW!!!"

And Squeaks rolls over onto his back, rolling back and forth on Tiny's riding saddle, hissing in reptilian laughter.

Fiona glances over and sees that the bear is nearly finished, then looks up at the glowy magician and narrows her eyes. "Lysander, finish the bear. We've got to take that wizard down." So saying, she marches toward the glittering creature, drawing her bow and stabbing her polearm down into the ground beside her. "It's a long shot..." she mutters, but her focus is on her target as she draws back and releases.

I'm traveling without a map-compatible device, so I'm unable to move Fiona and am also not sure which range increment penalty to apply. Her bow is range 80', so I'll assume he's within 160'; please apply more penalty if needed.

Pew (size penalty to Dex, size penalty to attack, range, bless): 1d20 + 9 - 1 - 1 - 2 + 1 ⇒ (8) + 9 - 1 - 1 - 2 + 1 = 14
Damage?: 3d6 + 3 ⇒ (1, 5, 3) + 3 = 12

Thanks to being blind (the -2 AC and loss of dex), that just barely hits -- however, the damage is only 2d6 - projectile weapons don't benefit from enlarge.

Damage: 2d6 + 3 ⇒ (3, 4) + 3 = 10

The figure lurches again as he unintentionally flies into Fiona's arrow.

Lysander?

D'oh, I knew that...

I KNEW that,... I just forgot that I knew that. Momentarily. ;P

Botting..
Sandy and Kruss continue to run after the half-human glitter bomb and his little cloud, too.

The summoner continues to try to fly away, turning somewhat more to the north -- as if reacting to the direction of Fiona's arrow.

The cursed bear continues its attacks on the warpriest, though Costin's hex continues to render it ineffective.

Next Up: Sahar, Costin, New Round, Fiona, Eloen, Lysander, Merlan, Sparkly Summoner, HuggyBear, Baby Tornado.

My summons are still there, they should be attacking the big teddy bear. (Or are we still on the same turn when they last attacked?!?)

Lastwall Heroes - Current Date: Toilday, 31 Desnus, 4711 AR | Shadowrun - Current Date: Saturday, March 13, 2060

Yes, you should have your summons attack the bear -- which would happen before our furry friend gets all hugsy.

LOL, Ack! gotta refind all my summons info (My PC rebooted and lost all my open pages) ;P

OK then,...

The shining golden labradoodle barks once again, then launches itself at the ferocious non-care-bear!

Bite att: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (12) + 4 = 16
Bite DAMAGE: 1d4 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5

With a disturbingly rapid clicking sound, the GI-ant turns it's insectoid attention to the bear as well, first attempting to sting it, then biting with its oversized mandibles, and trying to give the bear it's own version of a 'hug'!

STING att: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (15) + 5 = 20
Sting Dmg: 1d4 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 4 = 6
PLUS poison! injury; save Fort DC 16; frequency 1/round for 4 rounds; effect 1d2 Str; cure 1 save

BITE att: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (4) + 5 = 9
BITE Dmg: 1d6 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 4 = 8
PLUS GRAB! Starting a grapple as free action, without provoking AoO.
CMB roll to start grapple: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (12) + 13 = 25

Lastwall Heroes - Current Date: Toilday, 31 Desnus, 4711 AR | Shadowrun - Current Date: Saturday, March 13, 2060

The grab action won't work thanks to the size differential. Bear be large. However..

The celestial dog leaps in and bites the wounded bear, causing the fiendish beast to snarl, creating an opening for the ant to land an attack with it's stinger, causing the horrible creature to vanish in a puff of sulfur-laced smoke.

So, no hugging the warpriest. All that's left is the summoner and his little friend
