Here you go, Quirk. Thanks for running this!

Thak (Brenneri Envoy, Diplomat theme):

"'You're okay, Tock. We've got this.'"

Thak closed his eyes and traced the sign with a lithe index finger. Smooth metal and smoky wall-board. Letters and spaces. Empty mounting holes.

Pressing himself into the corner behind the filing cabinet always felt good at moments like this, even if he got a little dusty in the process.

He turned the sign again. Tech and Thak. Tick and Tock. They never could say your name right. Guess their mouths don't work like ours.

His shoulders finally unwound and his breathing slowed.

"Well, there it is. Time to move," he told the back of his desk chair as he stood and massaged some wrinkles out of his suit.

He slid the sign slid back onto its stand in the wall of bookshelves. Light glinted off the raised letters:

Clarity Communications
Representation, Negotiation, and Mediation
Proprietors: Tech and Thak

Rani's voice met him in the outer office, colorful as her electric blue and purple spiked hair. "Heya, boss. Feelin' better?"

"I am. Thanks for being patient."

"You're okay, boss. We've got this." She paused a beat. "What? What is it?"

Thak slowly blinked, then smiled. "Yes," he said. "Yes, we do. So, what's hot today?"

"It's all on your pad: 9am new client consult -- that's in 15 minutes, by the way -- blocked out some research time after that for the VIP gig next week, then a 4pm at Bluerise with Abadar financial review. Hey, and what's this mysterious 'lunch with Q' tomorrow that I didn't put on your calendar? Hmmm?"

Some fun Breneri background from Alien Archive 3:

When brenneris developed space travel sometime before the Gap, they enthusiastically began making expeditions from their home world to nearby planets in hopes of learning from their galactic neighbors. They quickly found that their empathetic nature allowed them favorable interactions, even with typically aggressive species.

Once they developed Drift travel, brenneris were welcomed with open arms at Absalom Station and in the Pact Worlds at large.

Now, a significant number of brenneris sell their skills as diplomats to other species that require ambassadors or that would prefer for brenneris to act on their behalf.

Brenneris often find themselves apart from others of their kind, as their wide travels take them far from friends and family. Their fine-tuned sensitivity to emotions extends to their own, which can sometimes lead to bouts of spiraling anxiety or melancholy. To help manage these moods, most brenneris keep a small token to help them calm their emotions and focus their minds on the task at hand.

Though brenneris’ natural empathy for the emotional journeys of others usually serves them well, it can sometimes bring them into conflict with others.

It’s not uncommon to hear tales about brenneri companions who were “too helpful,” insisting on trying to assist someone in a rough emotional state even after being declined repeatedly. In some circles, this has earned the species a reputation for nosiness, though even then, few would consider a brenneri’s interest malicious.

Alas I'm going to drop out - not getting the opportunity to develop my concept enough, and work promises to ramp up o'er the coming week.

Enjoy one and all :)

Finally, it is done.

Warning: contains alternate traits and features.

Meet Locket, Pahtra Aesthetic Warrior Qi Adept Soldier:

A young pahtra was found wandering Jatembe Park alone. The subsequent investigation and public appeal failed to shine any light on the identity of the small kit or find any trace of his family.

With the lad unable to communicate, it fell to the official who processed the paperwork assigning the child's guardianship to the State to determine the boy's name as best they could. And so he was named Locket Alyara, after the single item in his possession when he was found - a necklace with a locket containing an old hologram and the word 'Alyara' engraved within.

Bouncing from Home to Home over the next several years, Locket fell in with the wrong crowd and ended up on the streets. It was not long before the young pahtra knew the backstreets and alleys of the Gallery like the back of his own furry hand and began taking on the sort of jobs suited to those of 'flexible character'.

Late one night, Locket and several friends spotted an older kasatha man walking alone through the marketplace. Thinking they had found an easy mark, the group tailed him and, waiting for him to enter a quiet neighbourhood, made their move.

The unarmed man effortlessly evaded the blows of his would-be assailants, seeming to dance around and between them, always just out of reach.

The group was soundly drubbed. Locket's friends scurried away, leaving him to the kasatha who, twisting the pahtra youth's ear, 'assisted' him to his feet.

"It would appear you need to make better choices in life," the kasatha man said, not unkindly, through his face covering. It was unclear whether he referred to selecting him as a mark, Locket's friends, line of work or all of them and his life in general. Releasing his hold on Locket's ear, the kasatha turned and walked away, leaving him all alone in the dark, quiet backstreet.

This was Locket's introduction to Master Akram* (who, when his life had been shorter, had once had a name much longer - but that is a story for another time...) proprietor of the Warrior's Way*, a martial arts school in the lower Gallery.
*These were the humble roots I had in mind for Locket, however, I'm happy to change these to align more with Yoromishtali's tale if you would prefer for your setting, GMQ

Locket sought out Master Akram and soon began training. Shortly after, he took up boarding at the school in exchange for its upkeep, leaving his old way of life - and a number of unpaid debts - behind. His discipline and diligence have seen him grow considerably in skill and knowledge, such that he now teaches others. However, Locket would be the first to admit he still has a long and difficult road ahead.

Forged from his own experiences of loss and hardship, Locket's compassion for society's disadvantaged and forgotten is rivaled only by his desire to improve. He has made it his mission to provide other young down-and-outs with the same chance at a better future that he was given. This has led to many in the Gallery and its surrounds dubbing him the 'Striped Piper', a name that he takes great pride in, regardless of whether it is meant as mockery or approval.

Here's what we are working with it appears:

The following have fairly thorough concepts that they have given me. These submissions have everything, or virtually everything, that I need to move forward. Consider yourself part of this game. There will be further instructions soon. Some of you will be in "group 1," some in "group 2."

Please correct me if I have anything incorrect here.

1. Tomtesserae/Yoromishtali (Vesk soldier)
2. Me'Mori/Goldenarms (Android biohacker)
3. Jimbles the Mediocre/Thuldas Crawdun (Dwarf Technomancer)
4. Enchanter Time/Tremox Soshi (Ysoki Envoy)
5. Vrog Skyweaver/Kusa (uplifted bear mystic)

7. Archpaladin Zousha (Shirren Mechanic)
8. Janosian (Brenneri Envoy)

At this point I am closing submissions. I'll make one exception for Simeon, as he has posted recently about his ideas. Simeon, if you're still interested, let's see a little more about that character!

Thanks for the update, GMQ!

Woohoo! I'll get started on Sen's actual sheet!

Manifold Host

(Janosian) -- Thanks! I'll nail down his sheet and watch for more updates. Looking forward to giving this a go!

I wasn't able to do a whole lot tonight, but I think I have everyone broken down into two groups fairly nicely. It was interesting and convenient that we had 2 each of mystics, envoys, soldiers, and mechanics. Group 1 has a biohacker, and group 2 has a technomancer.

NO OPERATIVES! How did that happen?

Group 1 "Cult of Personaility"
1. Therealthom/Gath (Shobhad Mystic)
2. Supersuperlative (Pahtra soldier)
3. Janosian (Brenneri Envoy)
4. Archpaladin Zousha (Shirren Mechanic)
5. Me'Mori/Goldenarms (Android biohacker)

Group 2 "Bubs Vinzer, Vinzer Galactic Insurance"
1. Enchanter Time/Tremox Soshi (Ysoki Envoy)
2. Tomtesserae/Yoromishtali (Vesk soldier)
3. Vrog Skyweaver/Kusa (uplifted bear mystic)
4. YoricksRequiem SRO Mechanic
5. Jimbles the Mediocre/Thuldas Crawdun (Dwarf Technomancer)

Tomorrow I am hoping to assign everyone to gameplay and discussion threads. You will be able to see my lovingly created map of The Gallery then.

Thanks for accepting me. This will be fun!

I really need a more Vesk-like avatar.
