SO. Ohime has offered to rework to a bard if the group desires. WHat do you think? Personally Im good with or without a bard but feel ohime should play what they want and we will adjust. The party is fairly balanced in my opinion.
We could ask starstorm to join or be good with 5. I think we have a strong 5 and am good with that but group decides.

I would not mind playing a duettist bard. The only downside would be that I wouldn't be able to take communal protection from evil.

I suppose I'm fine with either? I like buffs though, and bards have a lot of good cc spells as well. We also sort of lack a character with rogue-like skills atm. What does Ohime prefer to play?
Edit: I can buy communal protection from evil next level, it's no problem as far as I'm concerned.

I'll take krokkin's chosen loot along.
Since no one seems to want barely anything from the non-wand stuff, can we take 6 wands and call it a day?
I'd take bull's strength, charm monster, cure moderate wounds, cure critical wounds, acid arrow and optionally bear's endurance.
Suggestion from a wand seems a lot more obvious when used than the normal spell, and charm monster will probably be very handy in actually capturing monsters for the managery.
The bear's endurance one doesn't seem particularly good on second thought so I'm also fine with the prior four. In return for taking an extra healer wand I'll just work a bit harder to heal the campfolk myself.
Also, Sorogar would take the two unidentified flasks and try to identity them.

I also own a wand of cure light wounds, so I can heal you as well if you are life siphoning to people and you start to drop lower.
You are right, I'd favor using Charm Monster over Suggestion for our job.
I wouldn't particularly use Bears Endurance other than to boost my poison ability for a little when coating my weapons, so we can leave that one.
With a sorcerer, we technically wouldn't need Acid Arrow, as he can just use Acid Splash if we run into trolls.
If we left those two behind, we'd be at:
Bull's Strength
Charm Monster
Cure Moderate Wounds <---What if we switched this for serious?
Cure Critical Wounds
Optional wand?
Wands left behind
Suggestion
Acid Arrow
Charm person
Cure Serious Wounds <----this for moderate so the camp has more numerous healing ability at a lower level
Bear's Endurance
Gear Taken
Large Signet ring (silver ring - jade falcon)
Large Skeleton Key
Large Charcoal Pencil
Large Scroll Case with 3 impossible papyrus
Large Collapsable Plank
Gear Left Behind
Large +1 comfort/glamered studded leather <----worth almost 9k. I wouldn't mind this for the value alone.
20sqft camo canvas
Large Great Club
Large Lungchaun Tamo
Large False Manacles
Large Nature Climbing Harness
Large Chunk of green sealing wax
Large Silent whistle

I'm taking the unidentified vials as well. But you're right, we should take the armor and attempt to sell it somewhere. Having some gold is a good idea, since i don't think any of us currently have magical weapons, armor, or materials to make potions and such with.
To use it, however, we'd have to find some town or village to trade with, I suppose.

Ok, Brek, and what are your thoughts on the wands/gear? Mosely?
BTW Mosely, you are getting further and further behind. Are you wanting us to wait for you to post so you aren't swamped with walls of text to play catch up on?

Maybe best to leave Jesse/Mosely a moment to catch up yes, he said he had a rough week.
Thinking it over some more, I suppose it makes the most sense to leave the most powerful healing wand for the camp (moderate wounds, 50 charges). As scouts, we'll take the two wands with better emergency healing but fewer charges. If we express it in 'number of cure light wounds spells', that means w'd take 90 of them while leaving 100 to the camp. It's a good split I guess. On the number of items, the following is roughly half I suppose.
Updated gear list we're taking/leaving (unless more imput is received):
Wands we are taking
Bull's Strength
Charm Monster
Cure serious wounds
Cure Critical Wounds
Bear's endurance (optional/if allowed)
Wands left behind
Suggestion
Acid Arrow
Charm person
Cure moderate Wounds
Bear's Endurance (if not allowed to be taken)
Gear Taken
Unidentified flasks x 2.
Large Signet ring (silver ring - jade falcon)
Large Skeleton Key
Large Charcoal Pencil
Large Scroll Case with 3 impossible papyrus
Large Collapsable Plank
Large +1 comfort/glamered studded leather (to sell later, if possible).
Gear Left Behind
20sqft camo canvas
Large Great Club
Large Lungchaun Tamo
Large False Manacles
Large Nature Climbing Harness
Large Chunk of green sealing wax
Large Silent whistle

My sleep schedule has been a mess early this week, then I had annual reviews at work (always a good time) and my cat has been a terror for the last two days, which has required a lot of late nights cleaning up. (I was up until 6 AM last night washing rugs as I would clean them, put them down, and she would immediately urinate on them.)
Updated to level 5:
Ranger (Guide) 5
Hit points: 2d10 ⇒ (6, 6) = 12 (+4 from Con, +2 from favored class)
+1 Strength
BAB improves by 2
+1 Fort & Ref saves
+2 ranks to all skills
New feat: Step Up
New class feature: Terrain Bond
This is super-important for everyone in the party to remember
At 4th level, the guide forms a bond with the land itself, enabling him to direct others in such terrain. When in his favored terrain, the ranger grants all allies within line of sight and that can hear him a +2 bonus on initiative checks and Perception, Stealth, and Survival skill checks. Also, as long as they travel with him, the ranger’s allies leave no trail and can’t be tracked. The ranger can choose for the group to leave a trail, or even specific members of the group to leave a trail if he so desires.
Ranger's focus increases bonuses by +2

I'd like to claim the middle spot for the very squishy healer if that's ok, both of you have higher ac's than me :)
For the wands, who takes along which one? I'm inclined to take bull's strength and/or bear's endurance so I always have at least one useful buff to throw around if there's nothing to heal. I could take the cure critical wand too, to have a backup emergency big heal if I run out of natural healing. Though perhaps it's better if Ohime takes that one? We have the cure serious wounds wand too.

Higher AC? I'm a squishy too!!
Oh well I'll take rear. Most of my attacks will be ranged.
As for the loot, I would suggest the following and their breakdown.
Wands we are taking
Bull's Strength <---Orihime or Sorogar
Charm Monster <-- Brek or Orihime
Cure serious wounds <---- Orihime
Cure Critical Wounds <-----Sorogar
Bear's endurance (optional/if allowed) <---Orihime of Sorogar
Acid Arrow <----Orihime or Brek.
Gear Taken
Unidentified flasks x 2. (Brek can Auto Identify)
Large Signet ring (silver ring - jade falcon)
Large Skeleton Key
Large Charcoal Pencil
Large Scroll Case with 3 impossible papyrus
Large Collapsable Plank
Large +1 comfort/glamered studded leather (to sell later, if possible).
20sqft camo canvas <--- never know when this will come in handy
Large Chunk of green sealing wax <---same.

If we go with that list, Brek, Ohime will be opposed to it, as the commander not only suggested that we would leave the healing wands behind, but also that we only get half the gear, and that is 6/10 wands and 9/15 items, as well as the most expensive ones.
Darn gear distribution craziness. Ohime would take the cure serious wand, the charcoal pencil, and the scroll case.
OOC, what are "impossible papyrus"? I don't know what that is. Is that something I would need to roll for?

We're not hitting town yet but going on a hunt is what I understand so far from story so far.
Should we be carrying that large glammered leather armor?
If we're concerned on taking too many wands and their cost, why take cure critical? At our level, taking that with us might be overkill.
Of course those are just suggestions, remove and pick from list as needed.

I think we are going on a hunt, yes, but we are also base planting in a good location. I believe I saw our halfling friend has a handy haversack, so it wouldn't be a problem (I'd think). As for Cure Critical, Ohime would prefer to leave it behind too, and Sorogar could take the Cure Serious. Honestly with that, we should do okay. As a life oracle, you can heal a lot of damage between that and channels of energy. If you need help, you can have the wand on you and I can be using my own.

WHere in the group are Brek and Ohime marching.
Sorry, I forgot to answer this. I think somewhere in the back to protect the squishy ones with her archery.
I'm confused by Sorogar's posts. Am I visualizing this scenario wrong?
1) We are walking and we come to a chasm, a deep hole in the earth, right?
2) down in that hole, along the edge of the walls of the cliff are caves on our side and the side some 1/4 mile away.
3) You didn't mention a bridge across anywhere right?
So what tunnels or caves are we going to go into? Are we going to scale down our side of the chasm and go in a cave/tunnel? What is the point in that? It might lead under the earth and up the other side?

It could be that I am envisioning it wrong. However, I hope that one of the caves along the cliff edge we are on leads to an exit further down and that one of the caves of the cliff edge on the further end leads back up. At least, that was the mental image and impression I had from Hark's posts. @Hark if that is incorrect, please feel free to correct me.
Also at Hark, thanks for including the line breaks, they help a lot :)

Yeah, make sure you get your rest!
Regarding spending the night, I think Sorogar would suggest simply camping at the spot with a guard and waiting for the column to catch up. But it's a group decision, of course. I figured form the descriptions and the described waiting times that we've walked around for quite a bit, cut through a lot of oilage, and given that the day started with a vicious fight and having to apply first aid to all the injured, she'd be very tired and not in the mood to walk all the way back if it's already night.

I think I like the double-column idea. It would also make it easier for the people coming behind us to find our trail, as well as to widen it for the other people/elephants.
I think having a watch rotation is important. I think we can all see in the dark, so a campfire isn't needed except to maybe cook a quick meal.

| Brek of Unknown House |

Brek offers to take first watch.

Last watch I suppose works for me, or if Sorogar wants it, she can have it?
Back to the list that we have to post IC:
Wands Taken (5/10)
Bull's Strength <---Sorogar
Charm Monster <---Brek
Cure Serious <---Sorogar
Bear's Endurance <---Sorogar
Acid Arrow <--- Brek
Gear Taken (6/14)
Acid Flasks x4 <---Ohime will take 1. I think Sorogar and Brek should take one, and Mosley should take the last
Skeleton Key <---Krokkin
Charcoal Pencil <--- Ohime
Scroll Case <--- Ohime
Collapsable Plank <--- Krokkin
+1 Armor <---Mosley
That gives us equal number for the wands, and slightly less than half of the gear, but also the more expensive item being the +1 armor. Sound good to everyone? Are we willing to post this IC? Is distribution good?
