@Villar - Unfortunately, you are also poisoned. You take an additional point of poison damage (down to 1HP!) and are Enfeebled 1.
You can head through the whole in the wall, for sure. Little bit of difficult terrain to get over, but you should have had enough movement for it.
The spider swarm seems to have injected something into Villar, which is causing a burning sensation and numbing.
He retaliates against the swarm, and seems to make contact, but his weapon doesn't seem to be very effective.
Damage Resistance strikes again!
Seemingly not interested in chasing the tiefling outside, the swarm surges across the training hall after Cicero.

I am confused here. How did I get down to 1 hp already? I was at 12, I took at least one spider bite on round 1 and failed the ref so got poisoned. Where all 3 of the swarming bites to both of us?
Blaydsong |
Yes. Each 'Strike' from a swarm affects all characters within. And on the first round of combat, you and Futin both to 11 points of damage. Then you took 1 point of poison damage.
You didn't need to roll another save until your turn, but we'll just count that as your next save, which cures you of the poison.
Villar Shadowsun |
Good gods, swarms are freaking vicious at low level. I mean they were bad in 1st ed but in second, that three attacks in one round is brutal!
Talina Vandotanos |
Talina took the shield with both hands and smashed down on the spiders.

With the reroll, you make the save. You're poison status moves down one step, to zero, so you are free of the poison. Go ahead and take your actions.

When he realized the swarm stopped following him Villar looked back in the room and saw them swarming over Cicero. Seeing the debris of wooden furniture Vill had a sudden, crazy, idea. He quickly dug out his flint and steel and then a torch which he promptly lit. The little spiders wanted to swarm them huh. Time to show them they were playing with fire.
I think that will take all three actions. One to retrieve the flint and steel, one to retrieve the torch, and one to light it.

Here’s the post, folks! Sorry about the wait.
Talina uses her shield to slam down on the swarming spiders and manages to squish a number of them (nearly half...?), but doesn’t do enough damage to eliminate the threat.
Meanwhile, Cicero tries to use some of the broken keep as a weapon against the spiders, but the shot goes wild.
Futin continues to dream of adventures with all his friends.
Despite the damage done, the swarm surrounding Talina continues to bite the warrior woman.

Second verse, same as the first
Villar also manages to fight off the poison coursing through his system, and starts to get a torch ready to use against the spiders.
The swarm in the training room seems to hesitate, rather than chase after Cicero, and muddles about the room, almost as if looking for something, before it starts heading back towards the kitchen.
Not too bright, these swarms. Effectively, it kind of moves around the area a bit before it starts heading back. Used all it’s actions on Stride.

With another smash of her shield, she manages to get the bulk of the swarm under her, and smashes them to oblivion. Whatever stragglers are left run for the hills cupboards.

Sorry!

Collapsing to one knee Talina looked over to the unconscious Futin then back at the others, "Either of you skilled with healing?"
Cicero Aldoran |
Cicero had already begun running up to aid Futin, he quietly whispered a prayer to Grandmother Spider Casting nudge fate before leaning down taking Futins healers kit and beginning his attempt to stem the bleeding from the spider bites
Treat Wounds: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (5) + 5 = 10
but is unsuccessful.
Villar Shadowsun |
Villar quickly put his torch out and slipped it through his belt while sticking the flint and steel in an inside pocket in case he needed it later. As he entered back inside of the room after having seen the spiders defeated Vill went in to check on Futin. He hoped the cat was alright and breathed a sigh of relief on seeing him still breathing. "Who ever made these swarms of spiders a place there better hope I never find them."
As they tried to figure out what they could do to help Futin vill sighed and said, "We're in bad shape and I don't think we can safely push on. We should take Futin and either move to a defensible room and fort up for some rest or go back to the goblin's encampment to recover."
Talina Vandotanos |
Talina went through Futin's pouches and found his healer's tools, "Can either of you use these? We need to at least get him on his feet to get to Warbel's encampment."
Who's trained in medicine?
Blaydsong |
You can do it again, you just have to wait an hour. Let's move this along.
Talina tries desperately to find a way to revive Futin, but in the end comes up empty handed. After a few minutes, though, the young catfolk sorcerer seems to stir.
Futin slowly opens his eyes, his body sore (... and itchy?) from numerous spider bites.
@Futin - You are conscious and have 1 hp.
Futin |
Futin stirs, and groggily sits up. Obviously lacking energy to do much but try and fix himself, he slowly moves his tools over towards him and begins to treat the small bites.
Medicine: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (11) + 2 = 13
He then will wordlessly try to patch up everyone else.

Medicine: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (13) + 2 = 15

Futin |
Sighing deeply, Futin struggles wearily to his feet. I've really got to get better at that.
He motions for everyone to come closer, and a faint glow hovers around his head as he casts a spell.
3 action heal with angelic halo: 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3
Futin |
Oops, noticed I didn't put the names in. That was Villar. Can I hero point that?

Healing Villar: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4
Talina Vandotanos |
Ummm, you may want to roll the correct dice for the healing there buddy.
Futin |
Futin wearily looks about at the others. His expression is grim, but words resolute. I'm ready...we can...move on. Though...I think I'll stay near the back this time. He forces a crooked smile as he winces in pain. Lead on.
Talina Vandotanos |
Talina took an assessment of all of them, "We're in no shape to continue on. We need to either head back to Warbel's camp or rest here. I say we head back to the camp."
Futin |
Futin dejectedly nods. Though he desired nothing more than to see this through and be the hero, his body said differently. He turns and walks out the way they came.
Back to Warbel!
