Futin looks curiously at the fort, and then turns to glance at Villar. With a shrug, he moves forward towards it, speaking as he goes. Then, when he gets near enough, he uses his sickle to push aside some of the bedding and see inside.

Hallo, in there! We've come from town to help! Can we come in?

Futin approaches the fort, and as he drawns back the bedding, a figure suddenly surges out of the makeshift shelter, attacking with a long hand-and-a-half sword. The figure is humanoid, but covered in fur, with a distinct goblinoid-shaped head.

Villar was not surprised when the goblinoid came out and attacked, he only wished they had waited long enough for him to warn them. Given the attacker's location Villar knew they couldn't all get in there so he took off, moving around the far side of the fort, to try and get behind the goblinoid.

Triple Stride

As Futin backs away from his assailant, Talina jumps in to retaliate, scoring a solid hit. As he is retreating, a word jumps to mind that he (I assume) speaks aloud, "Bugbear."

Cicero whips a piece of debris at the bugbear, but she manages to avoid the attack.

Villar rushes to get himself into a better position to help the others.

The bugbear turns her attention to Talina, a toothy grin spreading across her face. "You might make a fine addition to my larders," she says in Goblin, just before she strikes out with her sword.

No! Futin looks down in shock and horror at Talina's now prone form. His eyes wide, he looks at the frightening bugbear and then around at the rest of his friends. He curses himself for a coward, but knows inside that this creature was far beyond him. He takes a step back to give Cicero a straight line to the target, then calls upon his powers to give Talina some much needed help.

Come on, wake up, wake up...we need you.

That space is fine. @Talina, you'll be at Wounded 2 when you get back up, as you wouldn't have taken the Recovery check on your 'new' initiative. This also means that you can take your actions, as normal, starting from prone.

Hearing the bugbear talk of using them for his larder Villar knew this one wouldn't be reasoned with. He drew his rapier and moved around the rest of the fort, studying his target as he went, and then struck when he was opposite Talina. The mass of the bugbear kept him from realizing that Talina was down as he struck but he lashed out regardless.

In all the confusion, Talina manages to get back to her feat, but can't land a hit herself.

Sorry Cicero! Completely missed that. You're on it!

Villar gets a piece of the Bugbear, just before Cicero heals Talina, allowing her to get up and retaliate... forcefully, dropping the creature into a pool of it's own blood.

Combat is over! Talina, you're first hit was more than enough to kill it. Take one banked card, and a Hero Point to boot!

From their current vantage point, the heroes notice that there are several smaller rooms connected to this one, who's doors are hanging open enough to see that there's what look like they used to be smaller bed rooms.

There are closed doors to the northwest, and down a short hall to the southwest, as well as a large pair of double doors that are barred and chained from this side. They seem to lead outside.

Let me know what you guys are up to in this room.

Trying to make himself more useful, Futin starts digging through the bugbear’s makeshift fort. An initial sweep of the area reveals a fairly disappointing cache. The space between the hanging sheets is filthy, with garbage littering it’s outskirt like a moat. The only thing that could be considered ‘clean’ about the place is the neat piles of gruesome looking meat.

I’m going to take a little bit of liberty here. Let me know if there is anything else specific that you would like to do.

However, despite the lack of anything interesting within the walls of bed linens, Futin is picking up something of a magical nature within this area. Wandering around into the various side rooms, he manages to find a vial filled with ruby-red liquid, two more flasks filled with a liquid as clear as water, and a wooden shield that is still in serviceable condition.

One of which is a small stoppered jar with a strange symbol emblazoned on it, the other a small pouch that has been tied up, also sporting a strange symbol.

These would require a Crafting check to identify, unlike the other items, which would require some kind of magical identification.

"Unfortunately no. I think we should continue on. Let me place an enchantment on you quickly." Cicero will say to Talina before calling out "Gu fortanach bi còmhla rinn" casting Nudge fate

Nudge Fate:
sustained up to 1 minute
You read slightly into the future and give fate a tiny push to achieve the result you desire. Once during the duration, when the target fails an attack roll, skill check, or saving throw and a +1 status bonus would turn a critical failure into a failure, or failure into a success, you grant the target a +1 status bonus to the check retroactively, changing the outcome appropriately. The spell then ends, and the target is temporarily immune for 1 minute.

If you cast nudge fate while a previous casting of this hex is still in effect, the previous effect ends.

Villar was glad to see the bugbear go down, it took a lot of effort but they had all survived...he glanced in Talina's direction, more or less intact. That Talina was saddened enough by the loss of her shield to shed a few tears was a bit surprising to Vill. There must be a reason but he decided not to pry for now. Instead he helped in searching the area for anything of interest before gathering back together to see what they found.

When asked if he knew what the items were Villar shook his head and said, "No, I'm afraid not." He considered where to go next before orienting on the nearest unexplored area and said, "Let's go that way next."

Can't get into Rolld20 reliably until my internet resets on Sunday. Stupid tethered/hotspot limits!

Futin nods. Right. He then proceeds to make a circuit of the room, looking into the smaller rooms off of the main one.

Can he take a cursory glance into each of the private rooms, just to make sure there are no boogymen under the bunks, so to speak?

Mercantile Lore - Talina: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (8) + 4 = 12

Talina examines the two items, recalling her time in her parent's shop, going over the inventory with them. Unfortunately, nothing rings any bells.

Futin makes another quick scour through the side rooms, but doesn't find any more hidden baddies.

@Talina - Sorry. Rolls just didn't want to co-operate. In case you missed it, Futin did find a replacement shield for you already.
@Cicero - If you could make sure to mark down all that has been found. None of it identified, as of yet. Also, I'm assuming that you're waiting for the others to be ready to move before you cast Nudge Fate, since it only lasts up to a minute.
I didn't mention it previously; for the items that Futin found, the red liquid vial has generic arcane markings on it (any magic style), while the clear liquid vials are of a more religious nature (Religion, obviously).
@Villar - Sorry to hear about the internet, dude. I'll try to get direct options for you guys, as much as possible. If I forget, or something's not clear, feel free to let me know. Right now, there's a door to the south, and to the north that you guys haven't explored yet. Let me know which one you wanted to go to.

Putting them in now! is there any way you want me to mark them so that when we do identify them it will be easy for you to find what they are, like a room number or something?
