Just to be clear, its the same thing for all four main NPCs. They will talking to someone and you'll need to "distract" their conversation partner to receive your mission. There is a bonus for succeeding well enough at distracting them.
Also, I mistakenly put that only one of you can distract the NPC, but I was supposed to put each person can only Attempt once or Aid as long as one PC remains open to speak with the main NPC. So up to five of you could roll to distract OR aid to keep the side NPC busy.

Can they aid my last attempt retroactively, not certain a 12 would have hit the bonus. Lol.
000dafi03 |
They can, as that was my mistake, but you're not close to the bonus, no, sorry.

Alldo,
On this page of the guide under Pathfinder Training is how you can get free items. When you make you character you get to assign points to schools (or be field commission).

Then you get free consumables for your missions or in my case I get extra downtime (and eventually lower leveled consumables).

I personally like the scrolls because they heighten level with you, so a scroll of heal or soothe will be pretty much an equal spell level to what you could cast.

"All of the consumable items granted by the Spells school take the form of magical scrolls (Pathfinder Core Rulebook page 564), and the item options below simply list the spells that can appear on these scrolls. When selecting a scroll, you can heighten its spell level to the Scroll Level listed below. For example, a 7th-level character could select a scroll of heal heightened to 4th level."

That's fair! I'll be finishing up book 6 of Age of Ashes today on Roll20 so I probably won't post for the rest of the day.

Why are we writing everything in ooc instead of describing what we do and rolling checks? I'm pretty new to PbP Pathfinder Society. Anyways, Felika is trained in none of these skills, but could try Thievery at +4.
There are several methods of resolving skill-based encounters in 2e that I've seen. The optimal strategies for overcoming them usually involve a bit of metagaming. In my experience metagaming tends to be more accepted in PFS compared to home campaigns. You are likely playing with a unique group of PCs each time so you don't know who is good at what compared to others.
1. Only one person can try. Once the first person has rolled no one else can. It this case your best strategy is to metagame and figure out who has the best bonus.
2. You have a limited amount of attempts. (Seems to be the case here.) In that case, the best strategy is to again metagame skill modifiers having the person who is best at a skill try during round 1. Based on the condition of the challenge at the start of each round you shuffle the PCs as needed.
3. Each person can try and contributes based on degree of success. Crit Success = 2 successes, Crit Failure = -1 success. In this case you should try unless your skill modifier is so low that you might crit fail on a roll that is not a natural 1. If I assume the DC is somewhere in the 14-16 range, then once my modifier gets below +3, attempting the skill is iffy.
4. Each person can try and only the best result counts. In this case everyone should roll everything because you might just get a natural 20 despite having a poor modifier.

Yep, what Squash said all sounds good. I love your reasoning for metagaming being a bit more accepted in PFS than in a home game. After all, you might have never played those characters together before and really have no idea what your skills are.
On that note though, if you do a game with introductions, describing your skills that you are good at is a good thing to include.
Introduction Checklist:
Character Name
A little bit of background or why you joined the society
Skills you're good at
What you do in a combat

Thanks, that makes a lot of sense. I figured that's what it did, but I'd never seen groups do that before, and I thought posts containing only ooc were discouraged. Good to know people understand that there needs to be a chance for people to find out what their allies can do.

Sorry for my absence yesterday, drove all day to stay in a hotel for a week and pretty much do nothing else on vacation because of COVID lol

Obligatory "The spiked chain is an uncommon weapon, what's giving you access post". I made sure to check your character sheet, but I didn't see anything on there for accessing a spiked chain. I'm guessing its chronicle loot from another scenario.

Same place I got the leshy ancestry. (AcP purchase)
000dafi03 |
Great, thanks! You may want to list that on your character's profile for future PbP games so you don't need to post it every game.

I'm going to be traveling tomorrow so might not be able to post. I'll try to post tomorrow night though.

The skills to recall knowledge about these creatures are religion and occultism.

Yep, this game is over. Feel free to take slots in other games. I'll post wrap up and chronicles tomorrow

Hurray! Congrats, everyone! We did it!
Thanks, GM Zer0darkfire. This was fun. Thank you for putting up with a new PFS2e player. :)
May I ask how we will receive the chronicle sheets?
000dafi03 |
You can get Chronicle Sheets here.
I really like 2e, and I played PbP heavily in 1e, but something about 2e and PbP just don't mix well for me even after trying it a couple times.
Felika Elvanna |
Yeah, coming into this, I wondered if the amount of secret checks and reactions would bog down play-by-post games. I feel like it went pretty well this time, at least. Thanks again!

Thanks for a good game everyone!
