Firas strikes hard and true, but the creature seems to repel some of the impact as a ripple of darkness encircles it. The follow up swing misses and the ghostly projection also fails to connect. The shouting however, seems to ring it it's ears.

Detecting no dangers on the door, Tetsu is confident that it can be opened safely. Giving it a listen, there is a loud discussion happening, the words are foreign, but it has the cadence of a religion sermon.

Firas detects that there are six faint and two moderate auras to the west.

The vaulted ceiling of this massive sanctuary reaches nearly thirty feet overhead. Smashed stained-glass windows stretch in narrow bands above the doors. Four angelic statues occupy each corner of the room, though their faces and wings are cracked and broken almost beyond recognition. The walls are covered with disturbing shapes and runes that have been scratched into the stone. An altar, befouled with grime and filth, sits against the southern wall.

As the door opens, the speaking stops suddently. Amidst the destruction there are undead. Several seem to be looking, with rapt attention at the two by the altar, but quickly snap out of it and turn towards the interlopers. With snarls and hisses, they attack.

The two creatures at the altar pull out scrolls, reading them quickly, two wicked creatures pop into existence near the party, blocking the doorway and lashing out with wicked looking spears, they then take a step back, beckoning the party to come closer.

These appear to be ghouls, though their robes and holy symbols of Kabriri belie that there may be something more to them than ravenous hunger. Typically Chaotic Evil undead creatures. You are confident that they have no particular resistances to anything except for that against positive energy

Firas moves up and strikes green, wounding the creature.

Coop uses a burst of speed and lands a telling blow on green, finishing it off.

The pair at the altar lift up holy symbols and call forth energies from beyond. Two spectral flails pop into existence next to George and begin to swing violently. i placed them on the opposite side of you so they hopefully don't get in anyones way as folks are moving about

with all of the talk of cover, shouldn't I have had soft cover against the spear attacks thanks to the ghouls in between? or do the demons have phalanx?

@firas the one had a clear shot at you, so no cover there. the other, well... it was a nat20, so even applying cover, it was a solid hit and confirm. :) but yes, i did take that into account when i was looking at it.

Tetsu lands a hit on red, but the creature remains on it's feet. It finishes it's approach and attempts to bite the slayer.

Cool I appreciate the double check. I thought there was still a ghoul in between us on pink's turn which might have spared me that first hit. Ah well.
I will use a swift to lay hands on myself, and standard to attack purple.

I will provoke, but @Tetsu if you are willing to spend the MP and the immediate, a Sudden Block to shield me and give you a bonus swing at the demon seems like a win-win, while leaving my immediate free to prevent me from dropping while I am out in the open and still only have 27 HP.
