It is not clear to my reading that either skill can tell you how old the tracks are, but when I've seen it in scenarios I think it is usually Survival to learn that fact.

|Kintargo Area Map | Combat Slides |

In my experience, survival is usually used to determine how long the tracks were there.

As to tracks, you can easily note there is one set of tracks going in and out of the residence on the well worn path. With the massive perception you had, I'll even add the following... The tracks seem recent and used regularly

Silver Crusade

Male LG Human (Chelaxian) Cleric 10 (Torag) - Init +1, Senses: Normal Vision, Perception +25, AC 23/ touch 12/ ff 22; hp 73/73 (1/day converts bonus dmg from crit into nonlethal dmg), F+12, R+8, W+16, Speed 60 ft. CE 7/7; AoM 10/10; ToG 9/9; PT 1/1. Buffs: magic_vstmnt x2

Alternatively, you can use the Perception skill to find a footprint or similar sign of a creature’s passage using the same DCs, but you can’t use Perception to follow tracks, even if someone else has already found them.

Berato studies the size and shape of the footprint. Then he walks to the door and knocks.

Kimo puts his hand on the pistol handle.

Opening the door, you see a large bearskin rug covering the cabin floor before stone fireplace on the far wall. A handcrafted table sits in the southwest corner next to a cabinet. The table is cluttered with empty cookware.

To the north, a stout wooden bedframe with a goose down mattress is covered in numerous furs.

In a seat at the table is a dwarven man. As the door opens, he seems to jump a bit. "Hey! Who'r ya? Whatcha doin in me home?"

“I’ve hunted for their source. It’s a big forest, though, so I haven’t had much luck. There are a few places I haven’t looked yet. If we split up, maybe we could cover more ground?” Devarre goes on to suggest a few more places to check.

"If two of you head o'er to southwest, about a days walk from here, there's a creature that may have some answers. It's past it's prime, but it'll surely see reason to help."

"Two of you could go to the upper pools in Dead Man's Drop and see what you find there..."

"The last one stay here with me and we'll research through some of me old books."

Kimo and Berato:

You realize there is something off about his mannerisms. It's obvious something important is at deadman's drop...but the southwest seems innacurate.

He is definitely hiding something and not being honest

Berato puts a firm hand on his shoulder, and says, "You've hunted for WHAT source? what are you talking about? and why should we split up? explain what's at the Dead Man's Drop and at this southwest location you speak of! There, let me heal you of any ailment that might be affecting you right now, in the name of Torag, the Father of Creation!"

Berato channels a bit of divine power into the dwarf and waits for answers to his questions.

Purifying Touch (APG 94): You can touch a willing creature with divine power, giving it a saving throw against each effect currently affecting it, using the original saving throw DC of the effect. Each successful saving throw ends the related effect. The creature can choose not to make a save against an effect. You can use this ability 1 times a day.

Anthys probably doesn't notice anything. But the idea of splitting up still seems unwise to him (though having failed the Sense Motive, he likely just considers it unwise rather than malicious).

It suddenly occurs to the others that they appear to have lost their new Wayang companion again - but then they hear a knock from the other side of the cabin's walls...or somewhere inside them?

"There's simply an astonishing number of moths roosting in here!" Declares Xasay's muffled voice cheerfully.

Welcome back Xasay. I'm the last one to throw stones for having issues getting on to post - you are welcome to join the group

Berato, I truly like what you are trying to do but have been uncertain it would work on the dwarf due to the situation he's currently in. I've decided I'm going to give it a chance to work.

?: 1d100 ⇒ 4 (Did not work due to the 'Willing Creature' aspect) - I'll explain afterwards

Reaching forward to try and help the druid, Berato finds his magic fails. Leaping to his feet, Devarre shrieks "YOU DARE ATTACK ME IN MY OWN HOME?!"

Really? his reaction to a priest trying to heal him? oh well... here we go again. I thought this was the NPC we were trying to get the help from? my Sense Motive of 25 should have been high enough to yield some info related to mind-control, if that's applicable, and the large amount of good diplo rolls should have nudged him into liking us I think. If both rolls failed, I'm now suspecting this is a doppleganger of some kind...

Anthys will delay.

|Kintargo Area Map | Combat Slides |

Firing a barrage of bullets into the dwarf, he shudders. Staggering to the side, you see something strange...a faintly glowing ball of light bobs seems to slide out of his head. Bobbing gently in the air, the nebulous image seems to resemble a skull of some kind.

Growling, the floating ball vanishes before your eyes.

Blinking a few times, the dwarf drops to his knees and frowns. "If ya kin see it, kill da devilish beast!"

Knowledge Dungeoneering DC 22:

This is a unique form of Will-o-Whisp (Aberration)

Special Abilities: Inhabit Dreams (Sp) Due to its proximity to the First World and exposure to shadow magic while imprisoned in the Fellnight Realm, the will-o’-wisp Gossamere has gained the unique ability to inhabit a sleeping or helpless creature by making a successful touch attack.

While inhabiting a victim, Gossamere can attempt to control the victim’s movement and actions as per a dominate monster spell (caster level 12th, Will DC 16 negates). An inhabited and dominated creature can make a new Will save once per day to throw off the domination, expelling the will-o’-wisp automatically. A creature that successfully saves is immune to Gossamere’s inhabit ability for 24 hours. The save DC is Charisma-based.

Once Gossamere inhabits a creature, the will-o’-wisp can have a detrimental effect on a victim’s sanity. Every day a victim fails its Will save against domination, it takes 1d4 points of Wisdom damage. Gossamere can abandon its host body at any time as a standard action. Any attack against the host deals half damage to the will-o’-wisp as well.

Icon placed where will-o-wisp was last seen. Anthys and Berato can take an AoO on it - provoked from them prior to going invisible so no miss chance

While Anthys doesn't live by "shoot first and ask questions later", the gunslinger seems to have had the right idea in this case.

Anthys strikes at the glowing creature, then strikes again where he last saw it.

01-50 miss: 1d100 ⇒ 53

All attacks are net +2 to hit and +3 from Blood For the Empire if Kimo's attacks on the dwarf count as attacks on the wisp.

Delaying does not give you back-to-back turns.

Xasay manages to literally come out of the woodwork just in time to see...

Knowledge (Dungeoneering): 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (2) + 11 = 13

"Ah. Well that is...interesting."

Assuming the invisibility purge has done its work:

In a stroke of poetic inspiration, Xasay flourishes an especially strange-looking stencil, one he's never used before, and the ambient light and shadows coalesce into a singularly bizarre singularity of irregular illumination, almost a parody of the very thing they now face, from which erupts a sudden fusillade of barely-visible radiation!

The Dwarven Druid's rustic cabin is now lit by something like a blacklight disco ball. It'll hover 1 square above everyone else, so it should be out of the way; as always, a DC 20 Will save will reduce it to 20% reality:

light ray (ranged touch) #1: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (5) + 3 = 8

light ray (ranged touch) #2: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (18) + 3 = 21
omni-damage: 1d6 ⇒ 5
