Rei looks up briefly, to address the lasunta, completely ignoring her question, she states with a monotonous voice. "Where is engineering in this facility?"

As the Lasunta stares back at her blindly, Rei continues walking before saying "Ask the vesk. I am sure he has multiples of every album

"I happen to have a copy with me. I'm not sure I really want to part with it, though. They were VERY limited edition items, after all. What are you offering in trade?"

”Of course, of course! I am willing to trade the official Strawberry Dressup holoskin for the album!”

Harrac's hands clench and he leans in toward the biohacker, "Karyn? A word if you will." He leads her a few feet away and turns his back on the lashunta woman so she can't hear them. His voice drops and he whispers, "Ok Karyn, what do you want for that album? I have my copy but want to get it autographed. I also really want that holoskin. Can you help me out?"

Harrac is clearly unable to think clearly and wouldn't dream of negotiating.

"Excuse me a moment, but I think my big friend here has a better offer for me. I didn't tell him I squirrled away a copy."

Whispering back to Harrac, Karyn replied "Let's see what I can get him to cough up, shall we? You just sit there looking anxious. Yes, exactly like that."

Turning back to the Lashunta, Karyn said, "Is that your best offer for this limited, once in a lifetime physical copy of the SMC Star-Sugar Heartlove album? Because my friend here is practically drooling over the thought of having it."

The lashunta frowns at Karyn. "Alright, alright. I'll add a Strawberry Idol digital harrow deck to the deal."

"The harrow deck? Wasn't that given out free with every kids meal purchase over the last 2 years? Surely you can do better than that?"

The lashunta is starting to tremble now, antennae waving in agitation. "Okay! Okay! I'll add in my Tiny Strawberry Digital Doll idol set. It's a collector's item and it's worth 800 credits but I need that album! I need it!"

"Deal!"

Karyn pulled her copy of the album - still mint in the original package - out from he pack. She handed it over to the lashunta and received the other items in exchange.
"Nice doing business with you."

Karyn turned to Harrac after the lashunta had left.

"Been holding onto that one for a while. I knew it would increase in value, and this seemed like the perfect venue to offload it. Now, how much will you give me for these one-of-a-kind items for your collection?"

Karyn smiled. She'd let the vesk have the things, but she wanted to see if vesk could sweat first.

The lashunta squeals with glee, thrusting the promised items into Karyn's arms and cradling the album to her chest.

If one or more PCs choose to part with their album, cross off the Star Sugar Heartlove!!! boon from the associated Chronicle sheet. A PC who parts with her album in this manner earns the Heart Friend Forever boon on her Chronicle sheet. Multiple PCs can offer up their albums—BurgundyBear happily takes them all—and each PC who does so earns the Heart Friend Forever boon.

Harrac's eyes go wide as he watches Karyn work and he spits out the first thing that comes to mind, "First born! You can have my first born! Little baby HarraceerrKaryn!"

Dammit I should have offered mine too.

Seeing the lashunta still standing there admiring the album, Harrac frantically pulls his copy out of his pack and starts blabbering, "Ihaveonetoo! IwasgoingtogetitautographedbutIhaven'thadachanceyet. Doyouwantanothercopy? I'llgiveyouthenpenandthisfancycasetoo! Doyouhaveanythingelsetotrade? SomethingIcancangetsignedifIgetthechance?" He stops to breathe, his face regaining a little color.

Talc had brought his with him for this specific purpose, to try and get as much for it as possible. He pulls his out of his pack and tosses it over to the lashunta. "Yeah. I'm in on this too. Here you go."

"Yes! Yes! I'll take them all!" the lashunta cries, tears of joy streaming down her face. She turns out her pockets and gives you everything she has on her for the albums.

No extra monetary reward, but you will all get the boon.

Once the woman has run off with her prizes, you continue on through the crowd. The lights on the station suddenly go out, leading to murmuring and a few mild screams from the fans. The lights come back on after a few seconds, and the crowd slowly regains its fervor, but you can audibly hear people mentioning this has happened a few times in the last hour and wondering if Songbird Station will have to cancel the concert if this keeps up.

Ahead, you can see a beleaguered human man in a security uniform who is attempting to check everyone's deadly weapons for the concert. Of course, Songbird Station's magical field prevents lethal damage, making his job nothing more than a legal formality. As you approach, you can see a pair of obviously armed lashunta jokingly tell the officer that their weapons are props, and the officer waves the lashunta through without a fuss.

He then turns to you. "Weapons check. Are you carrying any lethal weaponry on you?" he asks, his voice weary.

Talc doesn't answer and his eyes flit left and right as he tries to pretend the two rifles hanging off his back and the pistol on his hip along with the frag grenades on his belt don't exist. He looks sideways to someone who is good at talking their way through this situation.

Skrivix waits patiently for the negotiation to resolve, twiddling his thumbs in idle boredom.

At the weapons check he jokingly hefts his archaic staff, saying "This is probably more lethal to me than anyone else. Who even uses wood anymore, right?"

Diplo: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (3) + 5 = 8

Harrac shows the officer all the new swag, "... and look at this pin! BurgandyBear had the pink one AND the neon green, can you imagine? And we have the holowig and the socks. Duuuuuude look at the socks. Say do you have a pen? I want to get an autograph. And omgomgomg do you think they sell posters inside? ..." He babbles on for a minute, trying to convince the guards they should be super excited to be there. He makes no mention of any weapons other than casually mentioning his solarian power, "I wonder if I can make my mote into an axe! Like the electric one Minimetal plays!" He turns to Talc, "duuuuuuuuuuuude can you imagine?!?" He plays the air guitar for a few seconds, waving the officer in to join him, "give me a beat my man!"

Diplo: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (10) + 9 = 19

Rei stands there motionless and simply states "I don't need a weapon. I am a weapon"

"In the right hands, anything is a lethal weapon. I have a knife on me. I also have a pen. I don't intend on using either to kill anyone today."

"Karyn! Do you have an apple? Or a pineapple?! You're probably too ... err nevermind.

He leans over to Skrillex and whispers, penpineappleapplepen! amiright?

The officer looks between each of you and sighs. ”Alright, you’re fine. Go ahead,” he says with a weary wave of his hand.

It’s about this time that the skittermander mob returns, descending upon you with chants of ”Helping! Helping! Helping!” By some stroke of fate, they have learned Mr. Lanzio’s address, but in the process they’ve also procured a jetpack armor upgrade, a box of half-eaten donuts, and what looks like someone’s prosthetic eye.

You’re at the engineering area if you would like to investigate it now. You’ll have to brave the crowd again to reach the residential section to look for Lanzio.

Talc takes the prosthetic eye and dangles it from his face before tossing it to Karyn, "Catch!" he shouts before taking the jetpack and attaching it to his own armor.

"I could always use my trusty jetpack to blast over these peeps and get ahead, but it may be best if Harrac just muscled us through?"

Still, Talc looks around for an easy path through the crowd, but he can't see beyond Harrac to get any good ideas.

Perception: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5

"Thank you for your help, little friends. We appreciate it very much. Although I am pretty sure when we said to keep an eye out for our other friend, we didn't mean it quite this literally. But, good job!"

Karyn heads off after the others towards engineering.

As you head towards engineering, you hear Ziggy’s telepathic voice coming from behind a magnetically sealed door. ”Agents, there you are! I seem to have gotten mysteriously stuck somehow... But we have bigger issues! You probably noticed that one of the station generators is having some issues. Songbird Station sent a technician to fix it, but it turns out she sprouted an eye in the roof of her mouth and can’t work anymore, because the eye is very distracting! Now no one else is willing to go down there. From what they said, something’s messing with the reactor. Can you see if you can get whatever it is to leave peacefully? If the generator keeps shorting out, the entire concert might have to be canceled. This concert means a lot to... well, to a lot of people! Also, after two years of promotion and the price most people paid for these tickets, if the concert is canceled, there will probably be a very nasty riot.”

"Convenient timing. We were just making our way into engineering. We will go in and see what the issue is, and resolve it for you."

Rei looks up at talc with her patented RBF stating the obvious - Its time to go...

Skrivix looks over at Rei. "This is where you get to fix things! Don't worry, I brought the screwdriver thing again. Just in case you need me."

Harrac claps Skrivixx on the back, stage whispering, "Shhhhh, we don't call him that to his face!" He winks and tilts his head at Talc. Harrac thumbs his comm, "No concert would be unacceptable Ziggy, we're on it! Oh! And if you run into a cool lashunta named BurgandyBear, solid dudette!"

You find your way to the station's reactor to see what is going on. Once you reach the controls at the center of the area, you se three strange creatures with pale, glowing skin and eyes that burn with blue, radioactive light. They turn to regard you as you approach. "Greetings!" one says excitedly.

mysticism: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (17) + 7 = 24

Rei speaks out in a monotone voice...
"Hespers? Why are you here? I believe you may be inadvertently causing disruption to the power grids in this facility. If you do not stop, I will have to ask you to leave"

She relays what she knows about them to the team through her voice comms.

Diplo: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (15) + 5 = 20 "Hello energy friends! What brings you here today? We may need your cooperation in solving a problem with the energy sources of this facility. Otherwise there is the potential for much violence and chaos."

Talc nods along with the others, hoping they don't need to break out the rifle and shoot these things. He decides to help the shirren with negotiations.

"Yeah."

"Us?" the hesper replies to Rei's accusation. "We are offended you would think that! We are just here to observe."

"Yes, there is something growing inside the reactor cores!" a second fey says. "We are waiting for it to hatch! It is so exciting!"

"Is there anything you cna do to smooth out the power core output, then? I am afraid that there are thousands of people on this station for a concert, and they could be killed or injured if the core isn't stabilized. We may have to jettison it to save lives. You don't want that, do you?"

diplomacy: 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (19) + 0 = 19

"We don't want anybody to get hurt. But... concert? What is a concert?" the fey ask curiously.

You can try to explain what a concert or what Strawberry Machine Cake is to the hespers through words, song, and dance with four successful Acrobatics, Diplomacy, Profession (dancer), or Profession (musician) checks. You can use the two Diplomacy checks you rolled previously so you just need to succeed at two more checks.

If any of the PCs have the Star Sugar Heartlove!!! boon from Starfinder Society Scenario #1–01: The Commencement, they can play the music to gain both an automatic success on one of these checks and a +2 circumstance bonus to all other checks to explain the band. PCs who give the hespers a piece of band memorabilia gain an automatic success on one of these checks for each unique piece of merchandise given.

"What is growing in the cores? I must observe for myself"

Rei approaches the cores and begins a full inspection.

engineering: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (11) + 13 = 24

"A buh buh!" the lead hesper says, stepping in front of Rei. "Come closer and we'll be happy to change your face around a bit! Tell us about concerts first!"

"Yes, tell us, tell us!" the others cry.

"You have entered my personal space. I must ask you to leave or I will be forced to force you to leave."

"Rude! We don't like rude people!" the fey says, its hand beginning to glow with energy.

Initiative (Rei, Hesper): 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (8) + 7 = 151d20 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4

Rei may act before the hesper.

Harrac pulls Rei back a step, "please excuse my friend, she's having a bad day! See, she hasn't accepted that she's a Strawberry Machine Cake fan yet so all of this is overwhelming! Who is SMC you ask? Why only the BEST BAND EVER!" He presses a few buttons on his datapad and music starts playing. Harrac dances around a bit grinning like a fool. He reaches into his bag and grabs some of their newly traded wrist and headbands. He holds them out while he continues moving, "Here! We got these earlier from a friend. They'd look fantastic on you! Then, once we get this baby power sorted out, you can come upstairs to the concert with us! See there's this group and they get up on a stage and play music and everyone DANCES!!"

I think we can get 1-2 auto successes here but just in case/

The hespers turn away from Rei, easily distracted by Harrac's frantic introduction to Strawberry Machine Cake. They don the jewelry and begin to gyrate and laugh to the thumping beat of the music. "Oh, we get it! This 'concert' thing is fun!"

"Concert!"

The three fey leave the reactor room.

It's Computers to investigate the reactor controls, but I'll let Rei use that roll and apply the appropriate modifier.

When Rei investigates the reactor controls, she discovers a strange magical code in the computers! It seems to be causing the power anomalies. She is able to retrieve the code and examine it. It is too complex to understand without more time and effort, but she is able to decrypt one of the program's subroutines and realize that it is programmed to vent all air in a certain housing unit in the station’s residential area. That unit is a match for Hira Lanzio's address!

Talc grabs a hold of Rei and pulls her away from the Hesper before she can make a huge mistake. "Relax! This doesn't need to be a fight. Just step back and us handle this on, alright? It's going to be fine."

Talc steps in front of Rei and laughs off her mistake as he pulls out his own copy of the SMC and shows it as well. "Listen to Harrac, he'll tell you all about it!"

Once they leave, Talc motions to the controls "Now you can press some buttons. If you want, I'll even help press your buttons." Talc says, raising his eyebrows in quick succession before offering a wink.

When Rei explains the situation, Talc curses. "We need to get Lanzio quickly, we're not the only one that wants them. Let's get moving!"

"We have his location. Let's be off. Oh, Let's check in with Ziggy first to let him know the reactor core is stablea gain...other than whatever that egg thing is, of course."

Ziggy is grateful that the problem has been taken care of so they can focus on enjoying the concert.

You return to the main area of the station and start pushing your way through the crowd to get to the residential area. As you progress, you are able to spot and avoid tripping over a small robot that is lying facedown on the floor. This limbless teleconference robot is painted red and has a large datapad for a “face,” allowing the screen to display a person on the other end of a data connection. ”Somebody? A little help?” comes a muffled voice.

Rei looks down at the robot with much interest. "How can I assist you today?"

She picks up the limbless robot and hoists it off its face. "Is this better? Do you require limbs?"

Once righted, you can see a black-furred ysoki dialed into the datapad. ”Oh, thank you! I’m Diwata! I had applied for time off for this concert months in advance, but my company canceled my planned vacation on a whim. Despite the fact that she could no longer make it to the performance in person, I was determined to see it live, come hell or high water. Unfortunately, this teleconference robot is not very stable and keeps getting knocked down by the crowd. I would be quite grateful if you could add some stabilizers for me!”

"You're robot does seem to be lacking adequate stabilization. We are however pressed for time on other tasks."

Rei pauses for a moment. "I believe i have a solution. Talc - I could likely fashion the jetpack you received onto this teleconference robot. Diwata - would this suffice for you? I guarantee it would help. I also guarantee that my friend Talc would be displeased at the thought of losing his shiny new jetpack. Perhaps a deal can be made?"

”Oh, yes, that will work! Jet packs are awesome!” Diwata says enthusiastically. ”I can compensate you with 750 credits.”

Skrivix shakes the robot up and down as if it had a hand to shake. "Looks like we've got a deal. Rei - can you work and walk? With the jetpack upgrade I imagine Diwata can navigate to the appropriate seat once you finish and we can get to our... seats more quickly as well."

Rei takes the jetpack from Talc, and begins to affix it to the conferencebot.

"This is a simple task. I should be able to perform this task adequately"

Harrac grins at his camera, "Hear that squad? That's what she said!"

Rei looks up at Harrac briefly with her RBF before attending back to her work.
