Use fortune for re roll

Not that it’s likely to matter to the poor porker, rolling an 11 is actually a Critical Hit (rolling doubles on a successful attack is a Critical Hit and doubles on a miss is a Fumble).

Warhammer Game Notes & Maps

Magda: Your first attack roll (before the Fortune) got +2 SL and the boar got -2 SL. You could still have used the Fortune if you wanted, but I'm just wanting to clarify that you didn't need to in order to have an attack success. The second roll was obviously better.

Assuming all the pigs are dead, Ludger grabs ahold of the smallest and carries it back to the boat. Not knowing anything about butchering an animal, Ludger simply drops it on to the deck.

"Here's you ham Cap'n sir!

Warhammer Game Notes & Maps

With the boars dispatched, the crew begins gathering up their prize. As they do, Magda finds a small batch of thirsfen in the area the boars were rooting around.

Hustling back to the Sunfish, you arrive as the rest of the crew is making preparations to push off. Furtive glances are exchanged as Ludger drops the bloody boar onto the deck and you are able to gather later on that Captain Fein gave Kreiger a dressing down for the delay.

Kreiger meets you on deck. "Good to see you made it back in one piece. That critter looks mighty tasty." He hands over your reward for the hunt, and the crew's mood lightens greatly that night as they enjoy a hearty stew with meat that is not fish!

You each gain six pennies for the hunt, and can refresh your Fortune. If anyone has Wounds, you can take some time for recovery, as we'll be sailing for a few days before the next event.

I've been struggling with what to do in the next section for a while, but came up with a solution I like well enough recently. Hopefully that will keep me more motivated.

Ludger does a happy little jig when he receives his reward and proceeds to tell all of the crew about the battle being careful to not take all of the credit for himself. Ludger especially acknowledges the success of Magda, "her little dagger just sliced right through them boar hides. She's mighty small but I wouldn't want to mess with her if I was you. Who's hurt? Don't leave wounds without medical treatment! Boars, like pigs, are filthy animals, and their tusks can give you disease, if you survive the impact!

Magda was in full damage control mode, looking at each and everyone wounds.

Don't be prudish. I'm a doktor, or at least I'm training to become one!

Looking back at the recent battle, I don't think any of the players took Wounds. The nameless sailor took 8 Wounds and Sandra took 4 Wounds, though. If you want to help them out, make a Heal check for each. The target character will recover Int + SL Wounds (negative results are possible).

Continuing your travel upriver, the Sunfish arrives at the Ubersreik docks. After docking properly, Isaac orders the crew to begin unloading the ship's cargo. As you do, you notice him arguing with a dock official a short distance away. Between the noisiness of the docks and the distance between you, you can't make out what they are arguing over yet, but the official waves in the direction of your work.

Would you like to get involved, or mind your own business?

Axel: I'm assuming that you want to avoid being very obvious about your eavesdropping. If so, let's have Dramatic Tests for Perception & Stealth. If you have other ideas for which skills to test, I'm open to suggestions. The better result you get on Perception, the further away you can be & so forth.

Axel:
Axel has trouble finding a way to get close to the argument, but the wind goes still for just a moment as Isaac raises his voice.

"I don't care what your paper says! I'm not paying no fee!"

Everyone else: we shouldn't leave you out for too long over this. Given Axel's poor Stealth check, it's fairly obvious to you that he was trying to eavesdrop. Do you do anything about it, or continue unloading?

Ludger stays busy with off-loading the cargo, keeping his head down and a wool cap pulled down on his head as far as possible. He does the best he can not to be seen from the docks as he really doesn’t want his Da to know that he’s in Ubersreik not wanting to renew the arguments about his future.

Thank you for posting, Magda. I've been sitting on this too long. If Axel wants to pick that thread back up, we can come back to it, but it shouldn't have any really immediate impact.

After you finish unloading at the docks, Isaac dismisses you. "Ship is leaving in three days in the morning. Tonight, the next night and the night after that. In the morning, the Sunfish is leaving with or without you. Captain says you can bunk up here, but you're not to pull any trouble back to the ship. Understood? Good. Now make yourselves scarce."

It's been far too long, but you can review your mission here. You don't have a specific location to find Timon at. How would you like to proceed?

Early in the evening, Ludger strikes up a conversation with a grocer as he scrounges up some food for the evening.

"Yeah I know Timon. He's had a lot of people asking after him lately for an old codger that keeps to himself." The man looks the Stevedore up and down. "Can't imagine what you want with him, but he lives down in the Grundles. If you head that way, you should be able to get someone to point you toward the Swordfish House. He lives in the basement there."

Axel finds another lead before you meet up again for the evening. It looks like Timon frequents a tavern called the Portly Porter.

You have enough information to get to the Portly Porter or the Swordfish House without further problems. What approach would you like to take?

I'll waive your food costs for the day, mostly because I didn't factor that in when I was deciding how much Isaac was going to pay you. Looking it up, though, it looks like basic groceries costs 10d for a day. You can spend less & stay fed with Poor quality food, but that risks catching disease.

Writing this post made me remember that Ludger is from Ubersreik. Is there anyone he'd want to contact when he is back in town? Anyone he would want to avoid?

Ludger is able to guide the party to the Portly Porter without any difficulty. The tavern's sign shows a predictably obese man hauling an equally obscene amount of luggage. Despite the late hour, the Porter isn't heavily occupied. You don't see any immediate sign of the barkeep, but a tavern wench is wiping down one of the tables.

A dwarf is huddling over his drink in one corner of the common room while an older man sits reading a book on the far side.
