Hekk was just about to set his bardiche and get ready for a charge when Aryas goes running off to attack the spiders solo. He shrugs, knowing how irresistible it is to bring the fight to the enemy. Following close behind, Hekk also engages though he has a reach weapon and does not get as close.

In the cramped quarters, not much Leguin can do, so he keeps an eye out for a deadly attack to warn his teammates about.

How about casting delay poison on one of the front liners? That would make that person immune to the spider's poison. It is actually a really good proactive spell and it is one of those that you can cast!

Kn(dungeoneering): 1d20 + 17 ⇒ (6) + 17 = 23 Are these poisonous? Any special abilities or defense?

These ones are not poisonous. Not really many special abilities to speak of, and no special defenses other than being immune to mind-affecting.
I think you should get sneak attack, Tathane.

Hekk takes 18 (the third hit misses his AC of 24) and he reduces by 6 due to rage. I really need to remember to reset that on the status bar when he enters a rage. So I think he took a total of 12.
With his signature move he drops the bardiche and lays into the blue spider with tooth and claw, maintaining his rage. If it drops me steps forward and continues his assault on red.

At the sound of combat Leo breaks off the amiable banter he was having with some folks in the street and comes running. Assessing the situation, he says to Tathane, "Let's see if we can make a believer out of you."
If you're willing, Leo will give Tathane misdirection which allows Leo to feint against the target of his next attack. This works on ranged attacks as well as melee.

Happy to have the misdirection. Don't know quite how it works. You said it allows you to feint against the next target. Do you mean Tathane's next target? I'll make my attack and then you or the GM can apply any adjustments.
"You guys keep getting in my way!" Tathane frowns for only a second then races past Branson and Aryas in order to get a clear shot at the remaining spider. He twists his body to avoid a spider leg that shoots out at him as he runs by. Once he's got a clear shot, he fires at the spider again.

Sneak Attack: 4d6 ⇒ (2, 5, 5, 2) = 14
Tathane pins the remaining spider creature to the floor, thanks to the distraction provided by Leopold.
Out of combat.
You can see that the creatures smashed their way out of a crate in one of the nooks that line this hallway.
Four alcoves opening off this long hall each contain a reading table positioned in front of floor-to-ceiling curtains. The curtains aren’t fully drawn, revealing shelves behind them piled with scrolls, tomes, and folios. Several crates are stacked near some of the reading tables like impromptu stools.
There is a door to the south and a set of double doors to the west.

![]() |

Hekk peers at the scrolls curiously, a bit tired after his grage, wondering if any of them have spells or magical writing. Though he was granted magical sorcerous powers, they are very draconic in nature and, for better or worse, did not include the ability to sense or figure out magical writing.
Instead of trying to parse out what is on the scrolls, when the fatigue passes he leaves that onerous task to Leo and Brandon and goes the first door and gives it a listen.

Aryas claps on his companions’ shoulders!

He casts detect magic and also read magic of these are spell scrolls.

GM MattMorris |

Not that I'm complaining, but why did I get sneak damage on that second attack?
It was flat-footed from Leo's feint.
None of the scrolls seem magical--or even particularly valuable!
There is no sound behind the door that Hekk listens at, though a small jiggle of the handle tells him it is locked.

![]() |

Hekk returns to the group
"Find anything interesting? I think there is someone in that room - or something. At least I hear something."

![]() |

"No, I haven't found anything interesting yet. But aren't we here to find that guy? I mean, if this is his shop, I don't think we should just start going through his things. That won't make him more likely to help us."
Tathane moves to the end of the corridor and inspects the double doors.

Leo will assist Tathane in picking the lock if it turns out not to be trapped.
FYI, the trick lets me make a Bluff check to feint a target that you attack. You can choose when to use it, there's no time limit (at least until I restore spells), but it applies to only a single attack. I just made the feint check for the sake of PbP so that the GM would have the roll whenever you decided to use it.

GM MattMorris |

It is also quiet behind the double doors, though that set doesn't seem to be locked.
No signs of traps here, either.

![]() |

"Well, since the other door is locked, let's see what's behind this pair?"
Hekk seems willing to be the first through the doors if Tathane prefers, but since he was the first to the doors, he has dibs on opening the doors first.

![]() |

Before the group moves on, Branson holds Hekk up, "here."
He casts CLW on Hekk...

![]() |

"Oh yea, forgot I had a few scratches. Thanks Bran."
With that Hekk pushes open the double doors.

GM MattMorris |

Hekk swings open the door and sees a chamber just as cluttered as the rest of the shop, but it contains no furniture. Instead, items are stacked haphazardly across the floor or in teetering piles against the walls. A few tapestries featuring abstract mixtures of texture and color adorn several of the walls near iron hooks, and two incredibly lifelike statues lean against the south wall. A voluminous grey-green cloak hangs from a hook on the wall.

![]() |

Aryas again detects magic and looks around.
He starts walking in.

"Cool statues. Don't really care for the art though."
Hekk moves to stand just inside the door and waits for something to happen. Making sure he is unobserved he casts a Shocking Grasp spell.

"Hey, nobody told me you were a cloak. I've never talked to a cloak before."

![]() |

Aryas is slightly surprised. He nonetheless looks at the creature with a smile.
“I’m so glad Sir that a formal introduction is the start of the discussion here!! Usually, we are attacked. Oh and my apologies for the spiders outside of the room. I hope you are ok with us not letting them eat us... “ he asks waiting for a body language response.

Hekk finally winds down and waits for a few answers.

To Hekk, he says, "Why, I learned to cast spells the same way you did, big guy! It's all in the blood. One of your ancestors get close with a big lizard? Me, I wandered into the Shadow Plane one too many times." Looking over the group, he adds, "Looks like you folks might have some experience with that too! Huh, what an interesting group of customers."
"Look, I've got the inside scoop on most things that happen here, but information doesn't come cheap. 1,000gp and I'll tell you everything I know. Or, if you are looking to make some purchases, I'll give you a special, half off for information!"
If you spend 5,000gp in his shop, he will discount his information to 500gp.

![]() |

"Yea, wow. There is even stuff in here I could use! I always wondered if I should get a buckler. Well, I don't really have enough money for any of that stuff anyway."
Hekk does look at some of the things longingly though.
Actually I would not mind getting a ring of protection or making his cloak of resistance +1. Overdue anyway.

![]() |

"Ahh, of course! I love shopping!! Let me see what I have on my list!" Aryas says.
"Oh yes ... this talisman and ring would be super great!"
Lesser Talisman of Life’s Breath (3,500) and Ring of Protection +1 (2,000).

GM MattMorris |

"Ah, I'm happy to share a little information with such excellent customers. Now, what was it you were wondering about?"
Truthfully, I'm not even sure how the "pay him 1,000" should work in PFS, so we'll say that Aryas's upgrades are enough to sway him.

![]() |

”Ohhh!! It’s almost too splendid!!“ Aryas says and puts the talisman in his pocket out of sight.
