GM Chyro |
Lucky would have loved to attack the flying incubus, but the demon is outside of range.
This, however, is not the case for some of the other agents, as Noke throws a snowball at him. It hits... Fort vs staggered: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (4) + 10 = 14, and it catches him off guard, though dealing not as much as she would have liked.
13 dmg.
Shining Knight throws his dagger, but it hits the ceiling and comes back down.
Ash successfully flings magic missile at Charmer.
You guys are well on your way to defeating him.
Brallenera
Umberto
Umberto Ricci |
Umberto drops his favorite implements and draws a bow as he steps back to take a shot.
Swift Action for +1 bonus with Sacred Weapon.

Noke Tiiz |
No ranged combat maneuvers without specific feats. But you can just throw and kill it! :-D
GM Chyro |
Throw axe!: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (16) + 8 = 24 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6
Looks like just +3 from profile, unsure how you make it a flat +8.
Both Brallenera and Umberto hit with their attacks, but Charmer's demon skin prevents any harm from them.
=================================
Desecrated shrine, round 11
Charmer (-59) looks back again at Noke.
"Look at how hurt you are. Why not take a breather outside the building?"
DC 19 willsave vs suggestion to wait outside the tower.

She casts burning hands into the air, in the direction of the flying demon and only hits the demon.

Noke continues to cackle to extend fortune on herself and her dwarven companion.

Brallenera Thalkham |
Sorry, busty week end
Aww, do you have some holy water anyone? Or a net to catch him? Even a fishing rod would be worth a try..
How high is the demon, and what would be the DC to jump and catch him?
GM Chyro |
Merely a DC 40 acrobatics, from where you are right now. Plus a decent grapple check.
The Shining Knight |

"Wretched villain! Your vile machinations will come to naught!"
Trying an Intimidate: Demoralize attempt.
Intimidate: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (11) + 7 = 18
Brallenera Thalkham |
Brallenera switches weapons (again!), taking back the cherished battleaxe the demon dropped
Awww, You know, you would have been easier to kill if you were a devil. That's quite uncooperative of you.
Lucky Luli |
Luli offers a bit of guidance to Umberto as he watches the demon warily.
Luli's got a crossbow, but no cold-iron bolts so it's highly unlikely to do much.
GM Chyro |
Umberto receives a minor magic boost to whatever the man will try pulling off this time. Noke resists the subtle magic from the charmer again, and keeps laughing like mad.
As she does, like a compulsive pyromaniac, she unleashes a torrent of fire from her hands upwards.
Reflex: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (16) + 8 = 24, he beats his wings and leans back doing so, evading most of the incoming damage, the remaining damage nullified by his innate resistance to fire.
When Shining Knight yells at him in defiance, he merely smirks.
"Back on the plane, there are much scarier things than you, mortal.
I know a lady who would love to spend some time alone with you."
Brallenera retrieves her own weapon.

Noke Tiiz |
Noke asks Divune, her horned lizard familiar, to give guidance.
Divune casts guidance on Noke.
Noke delays.
GM Chyro |
An order until when you delay would be useful. I'll have to assume to last in party order.
Two arrows fly and, while both hit, only the first manages to harm the charmer, albeit for only just.
2 dmg.

Charmer (-61) flies through the room, stopping near Ash.
"You possess some annoying tricks, mortal. I really must repay you for it.", he says with a haughty grin.

My Dwarven lady: You are under the effect of fortune. You can reroll one d20 per round.

It sure does.
Both Shining Knight and, Brallenera through some supernatural luck, land hits on charmer, who is now looking pretty bad, though most harm was internally from Ash' previous attacks.

All Hell break loose, which is ironic in a fight against a demon, as Brallenera throw caution to the wind and let the rage strenghten her muscles.
Her axe in a blur, it seems it's time for a big-sized spanking for the vile fiend
GM Chyro |
We haven't even finished the round yet. XD
There's still the others to act, before you two get hacking again.
Lucky, Ash, Umberto
The Shining Knight |
Sorry GM :) I thought when you said “Everyone” you meant it in connection with initiative.
Lucky Luli |
Luli puts a gentle hand on Ash’s back. ”I know you’ll get through this,” he says softly, and light glows around the undine’s wounds.
Cure Moderate Wounds: 2d8 + 5 ⇒ (7, 6) + 5 = 18
GM Chyro |
Botting Umberto.
Lucky heals most of Ash's wounds, that's the stuff.
Noke bestows fortune upon Shining Knight.
Umberto zig zags past his fellow agents, whipping the end of his bow at charmer's eyes to try blind him.
Whack, haste: 1d20 + 10 + 1 ⇒ (14) + 10 + 1 = 25 Success.
Ash delays until his colleagues have delivered a beating upon Charmer.

Was busy yesterday evening. So he's up in the air again?
Yes.
Skipping towards the ranged poster..@ Ash, big question..... see link.

The Show 'Critical role'. GM Matt Mercer asks this of the player who takes down the tough opponent, as to how the defining moment unfolds.
Seems appropriate here. :)
Ashwell |
1 person marked this as a favorite. |
Bloodied and beaten half to death, Ash might have run away if it hadn’t become personal between he and the demon. He called upon his last Missile of the day, focused all his might and prayed to pierced that demon’s enhanced skin. When it did, and it fell, Ash plopped down on the ground. ”We have to rest. That thing took everything out of me,” he painted.
GM Chyro |
And fell it did, with a solid *thud* as charmer hit the floor.
An arrogant smile lay on his face as his body fades back to his native plane.
But, he would trouble the pathfinders no longer. All was once again quiet.
Lucky Luli |
Luli looks at the spot where the demon was for a moment. "If he's gone like that, then he must have been summoned rather than called here," he says grimly. "And most spells can't hold a summoned creature on this plane for very long - which means he was brought here very very recently, probably after we arrived at this tower." Looking around the group, he nods decisively. "We should rest - Ash is badly injured, so is Noke, and the three of us don't have much energy left for our spells."
Luli would vote for using one of the smaller rooms where the group can try to limit entry points, but perhaps not one with dangerous vegetation or an altar to an evil deity. Looks like that just leaves the chamber upstairs on the south side (with its broken wall) or outside.
GM Chyro |
The shrine is now clear for observation. There is also an unconscious elf hanging in chains there.
Lucky Luli |
"Wait, is that someone in there?" Luli pauses to point at the shrine. "Quick, get them down! We might still be able to help them!"
Noke Tiiz |
Noke breathes heavily and is clearly very hurt.
She draws her wand of cure light wounds.
CLW : 8d8 + 8 ⇒ (5, 8, 4, 4, 3, 4, 3, 5) + 8 = 44
Brallenera Thalkham |
Aww, nice shot, Ash. Couldn't kill him myself, when he's flying like that. Do you need healing, anyone? I do have a full wand to heal you, so feel free to use it.
The Shining Knight |
The Shining Knight helps to get the unconscious elf down, and then says "Aye, a rest to regain our strength! And come morn, should they awaken, perhaps we can prevail upon this newly-freed prisoner to share their tale of woe."
I'm not sure what it'll take to free this prisoner, but the Shining Knight will happily provide a boost, hack at some chains, or even try a Disable Device check to unlock something. If we can find a safe place to barricade for the night to rest and regain spells & hp, that sounds like a plan to me. This is one of those nice missions that isn't on a timer and that battle took a lot out of us.
Umberto Ricci |
Umberto shoulders his bow and collects his mace and tankard. He waves a hand over the tankard and fills it with a cold pilsner. He takes a big gulp, Not exactly to plan, but we did it. Praise Cailean.
GM Chyro |
As you approach the elf hanging from the chains, you notice he is not as unconscious as he seemed. Rather, his eyes are unsteady from fatigue, and he has bruises on his limbs.
"An...unexpected turn of events."
Getting him out requires a DC 25 disable device, Escape artist 25, or strength DC 28. Alternatively, brute force could work.
For those rather studying the chamber;
The shrine holds the altar with strange and disgusting offerings, as well as some bizarre artworks.
This depiction is of a demonlord known as Shax.
Shax, also known as The Blood Marquis, is the demon lord of envy, lies, and murder. Typically depicted as having the head of a dove and bird-like
legs, Shax is known to eat the eyes of victims.
His unholy symbol is a silver feather on a pool of blood.
Shax's realm, a vast mansion called Charnelhome, sits perched on an abyssal cliff, flanked by a thicket of blood-drinking plants. Shax is considered the progenitor of the cunning and murderous Babau demons, but also commands the loyalty of many shadow demons due to their envious nature.
Noke Tiiz |
”Oh dear Chaldira! I hope you can get out! Let me help!“ Noke says to the elf.

She then looks at the room.
