The Shining Knight |
Survival: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (13) + 5 = 18
Thanks for the healing! I'm old school where we didn't have your fancy newfangled wands of healing (wands were for wizards!) and didn't expect to always be at max hit points before an encounter :)
GM Chyro |
As Noke (and Lucky in this case too), wouldn't hit the DC, i'll skip her roll.
On to the final part. You're all charged up, so give em what's coming to them.
The air grows subtly cooler and dryer as the tunnel opens into a wide cavern split through the center by a deep chasm. Air wafts up from the chasm, circulating throughout the chamber and to the chamber roof twenty feet above.
The team makes their way until Brallenera and Shining Knight are first to see this chasm. Down here, it would likely not be a short drop to say the least. Miss Karma smells traces of various things, the ones of the drow previously encountered, and a small number more. The others are more recent.
1d4 ⇒ 21d3 ⇒ 1
Ash: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (1) + 11 = 12

Shining Knight: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (15) + 5 = 20
Umberto: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (13) + 5 = 18
As the more thorough armored pathfinders pass by cavern formations, they are being observed by evil. When Ash and Umberto come into view, both less tough looking than Brallenera and Shining Knight, a trap is sprung.
Stealth modifiers beat the perception.
Surprise bolt vs ff Ash, partial cover: 1d20 + 8 - 2 ⇒ (19) + 8 - 2 = 25 Dmg, SA, Shock: 1d4 + 3d6 + 1d6 ⇒ (4) + (3, 5, 6) + (2) = 20

Ash finds a bolt sticking out of his flank, and Umberto feels a sharp jab in his own. Once more, lights are snuffed, as darkness now radiates from Ash's square.
Ash, a fort save DC 13 vs drow poison. No pass = unconscious for 1 minute.
It is now, that the first four agents look to their right, and see another drow scout. The first three see also some monster standing behind some cavern formations, wielding a wicked longspear.
The perceptive faintly make out a female voice yonder in the black distance.
Noke, as i too have played witches, the drow is a mere 5ft step within los, but the babau is hiding behind that rock cavern pillar.
"Ah, the nosy guests have arrived."

Lucky Luli |
Knowledge (planes): 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (8) + 9 = 17 Order of questions: DR, resistances, immunities, special defenses, special attacks. I know the roll's not high enough to get all of that information, but I don't know how many it is high enough for.
"There they are!" Luli yells as darkness smothers the group once more. "Wait, Ash, you're bleeding!" He carefully guides Karma forward until the halfling's short arm can reach out to touch the undine with a gentle light.
Cure Moderate Wounds: 2d8 + 5 ⇒ (8, 5) + 5 = 18
Casting cure moderate wounds on Ash. If the darkness is stuck on the target rather than the bolt, perhaps Ash can move a little ways away from the group next round so Umberto and Karma aren't prime targets for sneak attacks.
GM Chyro |
I believe haste will have excluded Noke, as spell mentions distance between creatures to be affected.
@ lucky, considering your previous encounter, you guys'd have a pretty good idea the bolts are the source. You don't see the demon yet, but when you do you can relay what you know.
Babau demons, they are sadistic and devious. Outsider traits.
Noke surprises the drow, as she sees just fine in the dark. Her snowball is right on target, and quickly sends him to the floor, as his body goes chilly from the impact.
Ash pulls out the bolt sticking out of his flank and Lucky heals him.
----------
The other agents see a drow female flying through the air towards them, an eager, devious, smile on her face.
Larger picture on slide 1 or 2.
As all heads turn to look at her, with her not saying anything, she frowns. Realizing most of these surfacers can see her despite the darkness.
She looks at the agents, some well armored, others less so.
With her own position, she chooses whom is likely a spellcaster and risk against flying people such as herself, Ash, with something else in store for Lucky.
She chants undercommon, and points an open palm at Ash.
Ash, fort save 18 vs blindness.
The demon with the longspear, makes a few more jabs at Umberto.

At first hit, Umberto winces in pain and, as he leans slightly over, grabbing his flank where it just hit, a second jab fells the warpriest, and he collapses near his companions.

Misfortune on the babau’s second attack.
GM Chyro |
Lucky, the demon is unfortunately out of your los, with a thick rock pillar between the two of you. Misfortune needs los of the target.
Brallenera makes through between two thinner rock pillars to get to the babau.
You have Kn. Planes, would you like to roll for info?
Awww, demon, you better wish Umberto isn't dead..
The drow woman has a haughty smile.
"Tch tch tch, vain hope, my dear. Your friend is off to his forefathers. Two spear wounds like those, bound to have hit the artery and heart."Fyi, it is in her description to taunt like this.

Brallenera gets to the babau, but the fiend inflicts a heavy wound before she unleashes her anger upon it.
Moving from behind both stone pillars and Brallenera, Shining Knight evades any such attack, joining the fight. His sword is brushed aside with the spear it holds. Brallenera's swing connects though, but the wound is much less than what she'd expected from an enemy to have taken.

Lucky Luli |
If the babau can stab Umberto from its current location, then Luli can see it. It’s a pillar, not a wall. Normally I wouldn’t fuss about this too much, but there is a character’s life on the line.
Ashwell |
Hearing Umberto hit the ground, Ash throws the bolt as far due west as he was able to, trying to get it out of range so his friends could see yet again.
GM Chyro |
Clear view of the two differs here.
Lucky spots, behind Ash and a broad stone pillar, a slight hint of elbow.
Misfortune?: 1d20 + 7 - 2 ⇒ (17) + 7 - 2 = 22
Sorry.
Ash, you still have a fort save against her spell.
Lucky Luli |
Luli’s breath stops for a moment as Umberto slides off the demon’s spear, and tears well up in his clouded eyes. ”No...” he whispers again. As the halfling raises his head, his eyes are twisted in fury. Grimly he reaches out once more and twists the strings of fate around the demon. ”Noke, hit it with your worst hex now!” he snarls.
CL vs SR: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (14) + 5 = 19

As Ash casts his spell, a nasty little demon pops up behind him.
Bite from invisibility: 1d20 + 9 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 9 + 2 = 14 1d4 - 1 ⇒ (4) - 1 = 3
But the little pest is not quick enough for the bite to hit.
I'm going to look on the board on if either version is PFS, before resolving snowball.
GM Chyro |
Noke, you can roll for yourself for the SR check, if it passes we'll add the dmg to current round.
Noke throws a globe of frost at the babau demon's flank.

Inexora looks somewhat satisfied at the first attempt.
Still, there is still a group joining forces against her servant.
She flies closer towards the group and, one hand a dagger and with the other holding up an unholy symbol, calls forth foul energies, when hovering near Ash and Lucky. Evil energies, which seem to bolster the babau and little demon. It lets out a gutteral shriek in response, its muscles strengthening.

A heapload of dmg there. Good job.
The babau takes 25 from Noke's snowball, 3 from Shining Knight, and 39 from Brallenera, giving it an unexpected heavy beating. The tide is turning for the pathfinders. Hope fills their hearts, as the demon eats frost and steel.

Usually channeled energy can only be used to heal or harm, but not both at the same time. Of course, this could be something that breaks that rule.
Will vs DC 15: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (10) + 8 = 18
Fortitude vs DC 13: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (5) + 6 = 11
Luli withstands the wash of negative energy, but he grimaces at the bite - and at the poison spreading from the wound.
Fortitude vs DC 13: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (19) + 6 = 25 No dex damage yet, but still poisoned.
The halfling pauses for a moment, remembering when he was part of the siege of the Gallowspire itself with countless other Pathfinders beside him, how they use might and magic to cut through the magical wards and traps left there. He grasps the memory, reaching out with his hand as if to help - and touches Ash instead.
So, funny story - blindness/deafness is a curse effect with a permanent duration, but it’s missing the clause about dispel magic not removing it...
Dispel check: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (20) + 5 = 25
Using Unravel Magic boon from Siege of the Gallowspire to cast dispel magic as a swift action, targeting the blindness effect on Ash.
Luli then turns his attention back to the babau. ”Use cold iron if you have it, or just chop its head off Brallenera!” he yells. ”Noke, take that foul thing’s luck away!” He grabs at the strings of fate once more, wrenching them forcibly away from the spear-wielding outsider.
Cast Defensively vs DC 17: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (17) + 11 = 28

Or if Ash wants to hit her with a mind thrust, Luli is ready to give him a reroll to his CL check should it look potentially disappointing.

Lucky tugs at the hands of fate, allowing his almost filed attempt to penetrate the drow's spell resistance to suddenly bolster, and for now she is hit with bad mojo. Miss Karma's bite does not come close to hitting the little pest.
"Kekekeke.."
Ash too, tries casting a spell. The psychic energies of his own, though, seem to dissipate when it arrives at the woman.
Lucky, from the page of dual cursed oracle, using the Fortune revelation is an immediate action. You can do but one of those per turn. The revelation itself once per day, at current level.
Noke starts summoning something....something flying?

I am surprised that, as a caster, Inorexa lacks spellcraft.
