Round 2:
Damon steps over the body of the cockroach he just killed and throws a flurry of quick but ineffectual blows towards the bug, getting it to focus on him as the greater risk, but opening itself up to attacks from the agile monk or the precise archer nearby (Using the help action to give the next attacker advantage) "I've distracted it--strike now!" Damon says intensely.

Kokam Kawlo |

Round 2
Having nibly avoided the attempts of the dying 'roach to bite her leg, Kokam steps around and towards the last vermin that Damon was harrassing.
Taking her spear in both hands, she thrusts her spear down into it's 'back'...
Attack: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (15) + 5 = 20
Attack: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (4) + 5 = 9
Damage, 2 two handed: 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (8) + 3 = 11
... skewering it to the rocky ground beneath, it's limbs twitching their last as it's gooey insides seep out in a disgusting pool about it.
Kokam shares a look with Damon and nods, then with a flick of her wrist to clear roach guts from her spear, turns to ensure there are no more threats...
Perception: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (10) + 4 = 14

![]() |

RP:
"Well struck," commented Damon to Kokam, poking through the refuse pile with the tip of his sword and looking for anything of value--at least something to wipe the ichor off his sword with.
Perception: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (15) + 2 = 17

Hallvarðr Stormbrow |

Hallvardr had no intention of getting into melee on that combat... the perceived threat didn't warrant it and someone needed to be rear guard
Hallvardr watched briefly as his allies charged in... but his focus was elsewhere. He made sure to look back down the tunnel and make sure his charges were ok (even the noble) and especially the blind wizard.
He laid a reassuring hand on the elf's shoulder as the archer fumbled with her bow. She needs to think of herself as a warrior and not a casualty... else she is worthless, he thought as she tried her best in spite of her broken leg.
"Giant insects wizard, but I think we have nothing to fear... the Van is capable", he said as the sounds of combat echoed. "Keep your light magic active... it is how I will see the oncoming threat", he said looking to the rear and trying to peer past the shadows thrown by the magical radiance.

Stella Destino |

Seeing the others finish off the last of the vermin, Stella relaxed and re-slung her staff across her back before giving the all clear for the others behind her to move forward. As they began to move, Stella approached Avenia and quietly said to her "I know you wish to help but please do not over exert yourself with your leg as injured as it is. I'm sure the 5 of us can handle a few overgrown bugs if that's all there is down here." before giving her a friendly smile. Speaking a little louder Stella then asked her, "So what brought you to Kenabres?"
just realized I never magically healed the archer but I could give her her a few berries if y'all think she'd be useful in combat. (Probaly want to save my last spell slot for emergencies)

![]() |

At least one berry would be nice gesture, I would think. If Damon finds anything useful in the pile, he will show it to the others.
Moving forward to the location where the tunnels converge, Damon offered, "Onyx, if you and another person or two want to go check out the pack the other direction, I can stay here and guard against unknown dangers up ahead while you do so." Thinking a moment, he adds, "I also have some rope if you think you might need it."

Hallvarðr Stormbrow |

Hallvardr calls from the rear, "I can scout and climb well"
Just checked my character sheet... should be 'competently'... our monk is likely a bloody ninja!

![]() |

Actions 4:
With the climb team headed back the other way, Damon turned to face into the unknown passage, his sword still out and ready. Keen Half-elven sight was a gift from his mother, and he took his assignment seriously, but that didn’t mean he couldn’t speak with the others while they waited..
Perception: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (19) + 2 = 21
”The Eagle Watch performs a valuable service, and love is a truly noble motivation, Anevia. With your help we will return to the surface, reuniting you with your order and, hopefully, your love,” spoke Damon, though he did not look away from the path he guards.
Speaking to the elven wizard, Damon continued, ”Aravashnial, what know you of these tunnels beneath the city? Should we expect to find anything or anyone down here except vermin? And why do you suppose we found an old campsite—do some factions in the city conduct forays into the depths beneath Kenabres?”

Onyx Duskrunner |

Action 1-3
With the last bug properly squished Onyx sat on a rock and watched the rest of the group interact. Apart from the obvious exception everybody seemed to be getting along and working well together. We may get through this yet...
In response to Damon and Hal
Onyx jumped to his feet and replied "The big guy and I can go grab the bag. I hope it's not just some grandmother's undergarments. If it is, who knows what lengths Sir Werm will go to take it from us?!"
He looked to Stormbrow with a smirk as he pulled rope from his pack "Ready to go, Big Guy? Let's hunt us a backpack."
Action 4
Onyx stood at the bottom of the ledge, looking up at the pack. "Well, Big Guy, do you want to do this the smart way, or the fun way? I've got enough pistons and rope to make quick work of this, or I've got a back and shoulders that you can use as a flight of stairs. Your call."

Hallvarðr Stormbrow |

The wizard was nervous, obviously not used to not seeing what was going on. The foreigner’s speech confused him more, “The Van? Who’s the Van?”...
The Skald looked at the Elf in disbelief then shook his head... he simply found it hard to understand the soft people of civilisation. "The vanguard... the leading part of a troop or army", he explained brusquely.
He moved to stand alongside Onyx.
Lead on...
Moving to look at the terrain Hallvardr decided that the traditions of his people would be best. "I will let you stand on my shoulders to get your good grip, make it an easier reach... , he offers. Just snag the strap with one hand and throw in backwards, just in case there's a surprise up there, he suggests.
"If your idea is to explore further tie a rope around your waist, and I will do the same and you can help me up in turn".

Fabian Benavente |

![]() |

ction 3:
When the others return with the pack, Damon offers, "Did you see anything else up on the ledge? Let me know what you need me to carry." (Nothing in particular Damon wants, but he will carry what others do not wish to).
Action 4:
At the cave opening with the green light, Damon says, "We should check out this side passage, don't you think Onyx? If we are blessed, we may find something else useful...and if not, at least we won't have an unexplored area at our back."

Onyx Duskrunner |

Onyx nimbly jumped up and grabbed the pack. He looked inside and described the contents to Stormbrow. "If we're stuck down here, most of this will come in handy. I didn't notice anything else up there, so let's head back to the others."
...
When Onyx returned to the group he tossed the bag to Damon with a grin. "Take it all, I like ti travel light. I didn't see anything else up there, but the pack has some useful supplies. Especially the potion. Speaking of useful, our Ulfen friend here makes a great ladder. We should keep him around."

Stella Destino |

Action 1
to Avenia, "So you're essentially a crusader police force?
And people don't mind you rooting through their business?" Stella asked curiously.
Action 3
Arriving at the junction point a little later on Stella saw the eerie light from the cavern branching off of the tunnel path and goosebumps began to form on her arms. "I do not like the look of that light...it feels...unnatural. I would rather not enter that space if we don't have to, but if must, maybe we only send one person in there to discover the source of that light first?

![]() |

“I sense the light is tainted somehow as well, Stella. I would rather not enter, but I far prefer that than leaving it exposed behind us as we travel,” said the wary Paladin. Grabbing his holy symbol, Damon called on the power of Iomedae and extended his senses down the green-lit passageway, attempting to ascertain the nature of the evil that might be present there (Divine Sense use 1/4).
”Lord Gwerm, have you seen anything that emits a light this color in the course of your life? Your depth and breadth of experience may help us survive if you can help us know how to prepare for this challenge,” the young Knight said, attempting to pull the soured elderly noble into a productive discussion. Turning to Aravashnial, he added, ”I can attempt to describe the colored light, Aravashnial, but without seeing it for yourself, my description may not be nuanced enough.”

Kokam Kawlo |

Kokam smiles when Damon congratulates her on her strike against the large insect, "Thank you , Damon."
She notes as she had already, that he also carries the symbol of Iomedae. Her own regard for the Inheritor came from the teachings at the Monastery, but such were not official...or complete. Such thought occupy her as the group continues down the rough tunnel.
When the cave with the green light is found, she watches intently, as Damon does 'something' with his own symbol of Iomedae. As he concentrates, she refrains from disturbing him, only asking when he was done, "What was that you were doing? I follow Iomedae as well, but that was something unknown to me..."

![]() |

Smiling at the monk in appreciation of both her curiosity and patience, Damon answers, ”The Inheritor grants me many blessings; two of her more tangible ones are the ability to heal minor wounds at a touch and the ability to detect forces unnatural to the mortal world. The ability I just used is the latter, allowing me to detect undead, celestials, and fiends.”

Onyx Duskrunner |

Onyx looked to the green glow and asked Stella. "Unnatural? Is there any chance it could be glowing mushrooms? I've been told of such things but never seen them myself." He looked to the rest of the party "I'm happy to go and take a look if you'd like? Stormbrow, you said you could be quiet, right? Care to join me?"

Hallvarðr Stormbrow |

Hallvardr joined the others, silent to the Tieflings accolades, content to have done something to assist the group. He laid no claim to anything in the pack or the pack itself, confident that the group would find a way to apportion the findings.
His musings were interrupted by Onyx offering a chance to scout ahead, and investigate the glow.
"Aye, I will but next time give the Kellid a chance... Kokam, pray take my place in the rearguard"

...
The Ulfen looked over the debris and fallen masonry as Onyx scanned for threats.

![]() |

Keeping a wary eye on the passage ahead, Damon waited for the scouts to come back and report. At the simple description from Onyx, he commented, "A stone building with no windows? With thick walls and a carving of a hammer? Maybe Dwarven, perhaps. If we can get inside and make sure it is secure, it might be a defensible place to fall back to or rest should the need arise."
"Did you see the source of the strange light?" Damon asked, concerned that some effect of unknown fell magic might be occurring here. (Assuming the answer is in the negative), Damon continued, asking, "Aravashnial, are you aware of magical effects that give off light but mask its source?" To Kokam, he added, "Though I detected nothing from the lit tunnel itself, the thick stone of that building would block my senses."

Onyx Duskrunner |

Action 4
Onyx's eyebrows rise slightly and he raises his hands "Many apologies, I should have realized that Kokam was light of foot as well. Of course you're welcome. 2 or 3 doesn't make any difference to me!"
...
Onyx approached the cavern with his ally(ties?) careful to be as silent as possible.
Stealth: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (2) + 7 = 9
He was still unaccustomed to the complete darkness, and kicked a stone. He cursed under his breath. Desna's wings, I'm better than this!
He stood in the entryway and took in the room. He took a moment to look for any movement, taking special note of the building.
Perception: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (15) + 6 = 21
Comfortable with the information he gathered, Onyx gestured to his ally (ies) and returned to the party to report his findings.

Stella Destino |

Ouch Helaman sorry to hear that. Hopefully you're able to have a quick and full recovery
As Stella waits for the party to finish scouting the cave, she takes this time to touch her star-stone necklace and make a silent prayer "Desna if you're able, please give us a sign and help guide us on the right path back to the surface". After her quick prayer, she then keeps a lookout around the junction point area to see if she is able to notice or sense anything from Desna on what they should do next.
Perception: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (16) + 5 = 21

Kokam Kawlo |

Ouch! hope it wasn't your dominant hand! Speedy recovery!
Kokam smiles at Damon's description, nodding in appreciation, "It is a wonder to be so blessed. I was taught that my skills are a reflection of my faith in Her, and that should I not stray from the Path such abilities may also come to me." She continues to smile, finding Damon quite easy to talk to.
She frowns, then smiles at the large Ulfen man, "This 'Kellid' has a name, you Ulfen jackass!" she laughs, then motions him ahead towards the green light, taking up his place at the end of the line.
When Onyx returns and describes what he saw, Kokam comments, "Buildings underground, who would build such a thing?" thinking of her own peoples transitory dwellings.

Kokam Kawlo |

Yup...good work Fabian, must be a bit hard sometimes weaving together our disparate posts!
Action 2
Kokam's first sight of the underground ediface brought forth a small gasp of wonder...she'd seen large buidings, the Monestary and the building of Kenebrae, but for some reason seeing the structure , whole and underground amazed her.
Action 3
Her amazement was short lived as the giant fly drove the Stormbrow to the ground in a bloody mess. Equally startled and disgusted, she kept her cool and commented, "Now we know what those maggots turn into..."
Gripping her spear, Kokam leapt forward to drive the giant insect from her large friend...
Attack, Spear: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (20) + 5 = 25
Damage, 1-Handed: 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (5) + 3 = 8
Crit!: 1d6 ⇒ 6
Bonus Attack, Bare Hand: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (3) + 5 = 8
Damage: 1d4 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5
... her spear tears into the creature, a huge hole appearing in its abdomen, lifting it clear off of the fallen Ulfen.

![]() |

Perception: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (11) + 2 = 13
Damon continues to keep watch towards the unexplored portion of the passage, noticing nothing amiss as of yet.

Stella Destino |

Perception: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (13) + 5 = 18
While waiting for the others to return, Stella felt a slight pull from Desna away from the tunnel and back towards the cavern; unfortunately the feeling she received was ominous in nature. Slowly walking over to the mouth of the cave, Stella arrived just in time to see a giant fly dive from the ceiling and viciously pin Stormbrow to the ground. "Stormbrow!!" Stella yelled as she rushed forward toward his motionless body. Please be alive...Please be alive!...Please be alive!! she repeated to herself as she saw Kokam return the insect's attack with a strike of her own with her spear.
Medicine: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (11) + 5 = 16
When she reached the young warrior's body she quickly checked for a pulse - and though weak - was able to find one and using her healing knowledge was able to quickly stabilize him enough that he could be moved though he was still unconscious. "Damon! Help me move him!" she yelled out to the mouth of the cavern as she grabbed Stormbrow's shoulders and prepared to drag him to safety.

![]() |

”Watch the path ahead,” Damon says to Anevia as he bolts down the tunnel, pulling out the healing potion as he goes and holding it out for Stella to take, interposing his shield and body between the flying maggot and the downed warrior. “Use this,” he says briefly.
Dash and Move plus interact with object (the potion), assuming the fly is still active. If it has been killed, still urgent with the potion, but not as much with the shield...

Stella Destino |

I'm assuming that Stella can't complete anymore actions until the next round of combat but if that's not the case I post something to continue on from Damon's post

OOC: yes, this is all you can do in this round. I'm even being nice and letting you do something other than just get to the lace which is 50' away.
I'll wait a little more to see if Onyx can post but I intend to move this along later today.

Onyx Duskrunner |

Sorry for the late post folks!
Onyx watched the insect pierce his ally, and before he could react Kokam's spear had returned the favour. Damn she's fast
Seeing his allies rush to Stormbrow's aid, Onyx believed it well in hand. He moved forward to the doors. "See why I hate bugs? Awful things..."
Religion: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (7) + 1 = 8
He knew he had seen the symbol before, but couldn't recall any more. He stood by the doors, waiting for assistance to push it open.
Waiting to help another, stronger, character

![]() |

Actions 1:
Shielding the fallen warrior with his body, Damon kept up an active defense, looking for any other threats--airborne or otherwise--that may threaten the Ulfen man while he was helpless. Handing off the potion to Stella in the hopes that she would be able to revive Stormbrow with it, Damon maintained his defensive position until his ally regained consciousness.
Actions 2:
Religion: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (9) + 2 = 11
"A temple to Torag, the Dwarven Father of Creation here? I suppose it is not so strange after all," said Damon, looking around to see the source of the green light's emanation. "Do you think we should enter?" he asked the gathered companions once Stormbrow had recovered. "If it is empty, the temple should be quite safe to rest in," he reasons, moving over to assess the door with Onyx.
"Onyx, do you think it worth the risk? Should we open it up and see what's inside?" Damon asked. If the wise scout answered in the affirmative, Damon worked with Onyx to open the stuck door, hoping for the best but ready for more vermin.
Strength Check: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7
Strength Check, Advantage roll with Onyx's help: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (9) + 3 = 12
"I think I felt it give a bit," said Damon after a few moments effort, but the stubborn door refuged to budge.

Kokam Kawlo |

Action 1
Kokam pokes the large insect with her spear to make sure it was dead, then once again flicks her spear to rid it of stinking bug guts.
She hovers for a moment over the fallen Ulfen, but sees that Stella and Damon have him well in hand...at least the big lummox still breathes.
Action 2
"I'll help the others, she explains to Stella , then follows Damon over to the building, looking up at the subterranean edifice.
"Dwarvish, you say? " she asks Damon, "Makes a bit more sense then..."
When the door refuses to budge, she lends her shoulder to the efforts...
Strength: 1d20 ⇒ 8
Strength, if she also has advantage: 1d20 ⇒ 7
She wipes dust from her tunic, "I think we'll need Stormbrow's brawn for this..."

Fabian Benavente |

OOC: so... the door did not budge. It would be funny if it was Horgus who pried it open. You guys would never hear the end of it. :)
The only allowed to try at this time are Stella and Hallvardr.
Unfortunately, I'm busy the rest of the day so update will be forthcoming tomorrow (I think morning).
