With the rest of the group having defeated the insect and moving ahead to examine the structure ahead, Stella continued to work on Hallvaror until he regained conscienceness. Afterwards she handed him the healing potion and had him drink it so that he could quickly get back on his feet and keep moving. She then stood up and looked around to see if she can find the source of the eerie light in the cavern.

assuming I had advantage After a few moments, the old door began to give way and Stella was able to push it open enough that the group could enter the building one at a time. "Easy!" she exclaimed "Not sure why you were having so much trouble." she continued cheekily. Stepping back to examine the structure as a whole she finishes with "And what do you think this building is?
I wasn't positive if the light source had been revealed yet so if it was feel free to ignore that part

Stormbrow, you have been fed a healing potion, so you should roll for your hit point healing -- 2d4+2. Then you can get up and help Stella with the door.
As Stella and the Ulfen get the door moving, Damon stood in front of the growing opening, his shield and sword at the ready in case more vermin spilled out.

Hallvarðr Stormbrow |

Healing 2d4 + 2 ⇒ (1, 3) + 2 = 6
Aid another on Str 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (9) + 2 = 11
Grunting Stormbrow puts his shoulder into the door to help Stella, who seems to work out how to finesse the door that seems to have wedged shut in the seismic chaos.

Hallvarðr Stormbrow |

This is a holy place, blessed of the gods... this might be a goodly place to rest if we need to do so, even for a hour while we tend our wounds. Tis too much an omen not to take, Hallvardr said.
Also a good place to allow Anevi to rest her leg some. Let's just make sure we're alone in here first
Truth be told the skald wanted to smash the nobleman in the face but he was distracted from focusing his feelings beyond contempt by the discomfort of his wounds... it hurt to draw deep breaths. The wound from the dive bombing demon fly was gone but his ribs still felt the impact of its assault. It was not just Anevi who could do with a rest.

Kokam Kawlo |

Actions 1
Hallvardr's words jolt Kokam, realizing for the first time that they weren't just looking at a building but a temple!
Alongside the big man, Kokam as well stares daggers at the despicable nobleman, then looks up into the Ulfen's bearded face, "How are you feeling, big man? You took quite the blow there."
Action 2
Kokam then advances into the little room, looking down into the basin , then turning to look at the door, running her fingers along the hammer engraved there, commenting mostly to herself, "Should we even be trying to get into here? It is a temple after all..."

Onyx Duskrunner |

Action 1
Onyx, his face shrouded by his hood, sneered at the nobleman and stood behind Anevia and put a hand on her shoulder. He said nothing, but offered his support in silence.
Action 2
Onyx moved alongside Kokam and looked at the holy symbol on the door. "Torag is good, and we mean no harm to him or his temple. I doubt he would have any objections as long as we are respectful."

Hallvarðr Stormbrow |

I can still fight. It caught me an unfortunate turn of the body is all. I will think on carrying a shield, is all he says in reply to any concern for his condition.
He looked around, trying to think on what he knew of Torag. The God was popular among the Ulfen but had never called to him... not like Gorum had.

Was this Temple considered “Hallowed Ground”? Damon’s Divine Sense should have picked it up if it was...and if it wasn’t that means it might be defiled somehow. Damon can re-do the Divine Sense if he was too far away before.

OOC: or it could be a temple that was neither 'hallowed' nor 'defiled', just a regular temple. I don't think all temples have been hallowed.
Let me know if you use your divine sense again but remembered that it does not work for things under 'total cover'.

”We are all tired, Anevia; this has been a trying day for everyone,” said Damon to the distraught archer. ”We all have a choice how to deal with our situation in general or our faith in particular—does it remind you of what you have lost, or give you hope for what might yet be saved?” Looking at Anevia with a warm smile, he added, ”I know what choice I will make this day.”
Persuasion: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (16) + 5 = 21
Turning to the elderly noble, Damon continued, ”Lord Gwerm, if you were injured, I would still be doing my very best to save you, even if you slowed us down. You are more than welcome to keep your own faith private, but I hope whatever deity you revere would encourage you to extend the same mercy to our wounded archer friend.”

Stella Destino |

Stella, hearing the confrontation between the woman and the nobleman, prepares to comment on the situation until she hears Hallvaror's and the others comments about taking a break in the temple. Chiming in, Stella follows up with "Perhaps this would be a good place to rest for a few moments. It'll let us all recover our strength a bit..." And hopefully cool everyone's heads as well... If this bickering doesn't stop we'll never make it out of here, she follows up to herself afterwards. Longing for the times when she wandered Avistan alone, she promised herself that she would step in should any of these confrontations escalate.
EDIT: weird I posted this a couple of hours ago but it's just now appearing

Hallvarðr Stormbrow |

Ive seen similar delays. In any case I'm voting for a short or long rest here after we explore it and make sure it's safe. If nothing else its a defensive position

"Well-said, Stella," said Damon. "Let's check the rest of the building, and when all the doors are open, I will check for Divine Presence again--to see if any residual blessing remains on this temple," he considered. Standing up by the fountain at the next door, Damon held his shield at the ready and prepared to open the door, saying, "Shall we?"

OOC: you are all doing a great job RPing your PCs, but let's see if we can bring them to life even more.
Have you thought of any quirks and/or mannerisms that your PC has?
What about fears? Bugs, undead, ghosts, disappointing daddy, criticism, etc.?
I promise I won't hold it against it mechanically, but it will make for an even better RP experience.
Consider telling us, writing these down in your PC sheet, or, even better, bringing them out in RP.

The noble was grating more and more on Onyx's patience How can somebody be so arrogant without offering anything in a time like this?. He wanted to speak his mind, put the man in his place, but what he said earlier rang true. The Duskrunners were a very small unit, and if this man was as powerful as he claimed his ire could be the undoing of his father's work. [I]He'll be gone soon, Onyx, he'll be gone soon...[i]
Actions 2
Onyx was impressed by the workmanship of the door as it easily slid open. He called forward to Damon "What do you see in there? Anything interesting?"

![]() |

Actions 1:
Though Horgus' words cut him to the quick, Damon did his best not to let his face show his feelings. Having never lived up to his father's expectations for a noble son, the words of the elderly noble implying he wasn't a good servitor of Iomedae felt like a critical echo from the past.
Deception: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (14) + 3 = 17 (original roll was a 13)
Actions 2:
Drawing his sword, Damon strode towards the being emitting the evil aura. Not knowing if it was fiend or undead, still he advanced to rid the temple of its unholy aura. "You have desecrated this temple and I will end your foul existence. Face your judgement, evil creature!" called the paladin as he advanced, unwilling to strike the being without warning in dishonorable fashion, though it may have been the tactically wisest course of action.

Entering the place of worship did not thrill the blood like a shrine of Gorum did, but like most of his people, he was not a monotheist. The gods were worthy of respect, and Torag was one of the deities venerated by the Ulfen in general.
He walked in, using his spear ever so slightly as a walking staff, keeping an eye on elf, archer and noble.
There is a priest here?, he wondered in surprise on seeing the seated figure within.

Stella Destino |

"Suffice it is to say that I am on the opposite side of the demons,” he looked at the blind elf, “despite what some conspiracy theorists believe.” Horgus continued with his foul mood."
Hearing Horgus' odd comment, Stella asks (with less tact than she realized) "Allying with demons? Why would you be accused of that"
Action #2
Perception: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (14) + 5 = 19
Seeing Damon stride in at the ready towards the "corpse" in the main chamber, Stella instinctively moved slowly in front of the the non-combatants ready to defend them should something unnatural occur in the next room. Desna let this just be an old corpse she said to herself as she moved into position.

Kokam Kawlo |

Actions 1
Kokam smiled at Onyx's reassurances about their presence in Torag's temple. She didn't have much experience with other faiths, and did not want to offend; dwarves were a prickly bunch, so she assumed their gods were so as well!
Action 2
As Damon entered, Kokam followed going wide to the left, hugging the wall, spear at the ready.
When he made his declaration, the hairs on Kokam's arms rose and she gripped her spear tighter, watching the seated figure intently...

Damon strode forward as the wretched creature revealed itself, his focus narrowing to attack and defense as he drew within range (move directly towards the undead priest, one square north). Whether his words were a warning to his charges or an involuntary appeal against the terror before his eyes is not known.

OOC: No, we can continue this scene as we develop the other scenes. That is probably the main strength of the game format (aside from keeping things neat and tidy).
As long as things don't escalate where it would void the 'future' scenes (like you kill Horgus for example) then it's not a problem but rather highly encouraged.
Kokam may strike with advantage (i'll strike for her if she doesn't get to it before I recap).

Kokam could only watch as the thing clutched at her spear and slowly drew itself closer, then the other claw was slashing towards her!
The flash that saved her life brought momentary tears to her eyes, for she saw, and any who were near saw, a pair of ghostly , dragon wings spring forth around Kokam and rebuff the fallen priest's attack.
Just as suddenly as they'd appeared, the wings faded from sight....their work done it seems.

Unable to move even as he awoke, Damon’s self-doubting voice returned. ”Your weak goddess couldn’t protect you, boy. The only reason you live is due to the power of a strong god. Pity you are too weak to even move when the Lord of Battle calls you back to the fight...coward,” whispered the voice in his mind. Not even able to turn his head, Damon heard the sounds of combat fade, and he could only hope his friends had been victorious, for he was too helpless to even blink his own eyes.

Hallvarðr Stormbrow |

Yes!, he exulted inwardly when his spear flew true, and there was a momentary surge of relief when Kokam took its head off.
Well struck Kokam! Praise the Lord in Iron!
Hallvardr moved to threaten the undead remains with his blade in case it sought to rise again while he checked Damon. He was pleased to see the Paladins chest rise and eyes open, albeit without blinking.
Well? Is the floor so comfortable that you don't rise?, he jested but completely deadpan, his gaze returning to the bony heap.
Kokam, coming from a similar culture may get the joke but it could easily confused as a criticism or rebuke. Vikings had dark humor. It was a mixture of sarcasm, irony and unusual jokes.
Are there other threats Kellid? Riftwarden?, he asked, keeping his attention focused on the vanquished foe.

Action #1
Hearing the sounds of combat die down, Stella relaxed slightly and turned to the three behind her, "It seems that the others have handled what ever threat was in the church. Let's join them but please stay behind me in case things are not what they appear..."
Action #2
Entering the main chamber, Stella was surprised to see the headless body of a former priest lying on the ground. Concerned about what transpired and as she was about to ask what happened she noticed Damon lying motionless on the ground. Walking forward to help him up, she then noticed his distress and quickly kneeled down and asked him "Damon can you hear me? Can you move?" When she received no response outside of his widening eyes Stella began to examine him looking for clues. Seeing the claw marks on his chest, she noticed a small amount of an odd black colored liquid slowly seeping out of the wound; taking a small drop, she quickly sniffed the sample before tasting it. Sensing a foul taste/ presence, she spits it out almost immediately before announcing to the group "Damon's been poisoned by whatever it was you just fought. Luckily it seems he only received a small amount of the toxin - praise Desna - and should be able to move in a few minutes. Now more than ever, it'd probably be wise to rest here for a short while and recover as many of us have taken serious wounds..." looking slightly concerned at all the injured in their small band of survivors.
