Just a note. My rate of posting has gotten more erratic lately. It may remain that way for some weeks yet.

John Billings Bryant |

Another note: I'm back and checking in (although I was posting while away also). I hope that all is well with everyone else, and that we can get back on track soon.

The Raven Nevermore |

My sincere apologies to all involved in this game. It has been moving at a substantially slower pace than I had intended. My wife’s unplanned Cesarean delivery changed much of my landscape following the birth of my son, culminating in a complication two weeks ago which drew me completely away. You all deserved an update at the very least, and I let you down on that front. By the grace of whatever powers may be, both my wife and son are now doing much better. I have a clutch of great ideas for this game and want to see it come to fruition, but I understand some of your concerns. I am going to take the next ten days to evaluate my ability to continue this game - if afterward I have been able to get into a solid rhythm and give you all the game you deserve, I will continue. If, on the other hand, I continue to disappoint, I will hand over the reigns to the party to do with as they wish.
Thank you all for embarking on this journey with me, I hope there is much more to come.

Lucia Wriothesly |

Goodness me, RL takes priority every time! It sounds like you have gone through a horribly tricky patch and I'm very glad that you are all through it. Thank you for the update, but keep your eye on the things that matter most to you.
We'll still be here (or at least, I will) when you're ready to continue. But equally if you decide that you have other concerns that is entirely fair and reasonable!
Take care of yourself and your fmaily.

John Billings Bryant |

I agree with Lucia. I’m glad things are going better for you and your family and encourage you to care for them without worry about our game. I can’t speak for anyone else but I GM a couple games on the boards and don’t foresee going anywhere... if you want to post here and there when you have time, I’ll post here and there; if you want to pause until you have time and energy to post regularly, I’ll be here when you get back; if you’re really ready to go now then I’m ready to go too (well, not quite ready to post, but I’ll get to that after work).

The Raven Nevermore |

Lucia, thank you for your understanding and support. To clarify, i am looking to continue right now - the "ten day evaluation" will be an active play window, to see if I can provide a consistent gaming experience. To that end, I just dropped a post into game play, enjoy!
Edit John, yup, you totally did!

Javell DeLeon |

Also glad to hear the family is doing well. And honestly, I just figured the reason behind your absence was due to having a newborn, which, in and of itself, is an absolute life changer for sure.
So, again, good to hear all are doing well!

John Billings Bryant |

@GM- it seems a little odd that nobody but Scarlet and I have posted in so long... have you considered PMing people to make sure they're getting the updates on new posts? I know sometimes if you don't post in a while you might stop getting notifications.
Edit: Jakob did actually post twice last week (tuesday and wednesday, plus the wednesday before that), which is more recently than I was thinking, so he's probably getting them. But Lucia and Peter both posted last around the end of August, so they may not be?

Lucia Wriothesly |

I'm truly sorry for my absence. I have recently dipped my toe into GMing and while I am enjoying it, getting the games off the ground has been work intesnive. I am still around and if you still want me after so long on silent mode I would love to stay a part of this game.
Apolgies again.

John Billings Bryant |

I wasn’t trying to be passive aggressive or anything- I legitimately just wanted to make sure that people weren’t missing the new posts, so that they could play if they wanted to (and were able). And, fwiw, I’d be thrilled to have others get back into posting regularly even if they’ve been quiet for a while. I’m going to keep posting as long Raven keeps updating gameplay, but it would be nice (imo) to have a few of us.

The Raven Nevermore |

Lucia, thank you for reaching out - you are most certainly welcome to join us in posting, please dive right in.
Jakob, I definitely can understand some of the challenges in an investigative scene when that isn't your forte. I will send you a PM with a couple thoughts (especially considering my years working behind the bar).
Peter had posted a couple weeks back about posting challenges, and them likely continuing for a bit. I have PMed him to follow up on any updated status, and will likely offer for him to step away with the possibility of future return (the benefits of an urban campaign - he'd likely simply be somewhere else in the city).
John and Scarlet, I understand and hear both your concerns and likewise would like to return to a more steady posting scenario. I most certainly would not want to lose either of you. I spent some time over the weekend looking through those applicants not selected for one or two to fill in the slots left by William and (presumably) Peter. Do any of you have any thoughts on any of the applicants that remain in the recruitment thread?

Scarlet Grey |

I would much rather prefer Lucia remain than find a replacement. I'd like to see her a part of the roleplay at the same time though. If she can't, that is what makes me feel sad about it, as I wanted to get to know both her and Peter's character. Having another character may negate the silence I'm feeling.
I am open to anyone joining, regardless of Lucia and Peter's posting rates or willingness to continue. The additions will be well met. I would prefer to leave that in your hands, however, as it needs to be someone you are comfortable having in your campaign.

Honestly, it's really no big deal. I've been in games where it is my pc's forte and games where it has not been. I truly am not sweating it by any means. And you don't have to go out of your way to come up with something just for him. I don't mind at all being a bit of the "backdrop" if you will. It truly is all good to me. And I mean that honestly. Seriously, don't sweat it. If it's something you want to do then by all means, go for it. I'm just saying don't go out of your way for it because it's not really necessary.

I will take a gander at it and see if I know of anyone and let you know.

John Billings Bryant |

I'm cool with whatever. John's pretty skittish about revealing his abilities to anyone, so a revolving cast might make that an even bigger challenge, but I wouldn't have pitched a character with vaguely sinister magical abilities that he didn't fully understand if I wasn't ready to roleplay the challenges that come with that (and, when it comes right down to it, if its a matter of life and death he's just going to use them and try to figure out how to deal with the consequences afterwards).

Same - I think our characters could have an intersting dynamic! I'm back and will post more regularly, and more fully. If I can get the dice to co-operate, then that is an added bonus

The Raven Nevermore |

Hahahaha, yes, the dice roller is always a fun bit...
Right now we have four potential active players (scarlet, john, jakob, and lucia), and if everyone is comfortable, I am happy to move forward at that level. If there is any thought that an extra body would offer some bolstering, I am happy to pursue such an avenue.

John Billings Bryant |

Whatever you want to do is fine with me. If you planned encounters around having 6 people it might not be a bad idea to bring in 1-2 more, but I'm also fine with sticking to 4 if you're alright with adjusting the challenges.

John Billings Bryant |

Bahaha- I just edited a complaint into my post about my garbage die roll, only to discover that I'd ninja'd Lucia who had a similar complaint

Scarlet Grey |

Well, I think them knowing our poor victim, possibly whether or not there are groups that stick together in here and don't socialize, if there have been any who they've seen before but never return (put in a much more socially acceptable way), and how far a "desire" for something can go. For example, if you wanted to murder someone, would he find someone for you to murder?

The Raven Nevermore |

What the f***?! Not entirely sure what happened, clearly an epic fail of my copy and paste skills - I had been working on the post in one format then copy and pasted into another to finish, before finally copy and pasting into the website to post. I must have still had the middle copy saved, and it only put that in. About to leave the restaurant now, when I get home the rest of it is on my desktop, I will be able to repost in in about an hour.
Or... They stole your eyes. In fact, Scarlet is the leader of the cult, it's all her plan, I confess. The scene at her house was all a ploy to suck you in.

Peter Caffrey |

Hey folks, I know it's been a while. I've been wiped with a cold... then felt rough today. Now I'm awaiting a covid-19 test. I hope to catch up again soon.

Lucia Wriothesly |

I've come down sick with something the last few days (I don't have covid, it's just a stomach bug). I'm up and a little better but haven't been up to posting. I should get some posts up this evening or Saturday.

John Billings Bryant |

lol- I've been having a string of garbage rolls in several of my games lately. It's been rough, so I feel Scarlet's pain!
@Raven- is the group Doe indicated in your most recent post the same group that Scarlet and Lucia are with currently?

Javell DeLeon |

Sorry for any confusion Jakob, he was heading from a set of couches for the side stairs UP onto the stage in response to your action, which is where he then spoke to the room from in the next post.
Oops. I TOTALLY misunderstood that. My bad.
