Hi guys going to have to retcon some actions here. Kaia is not dying she still has 4 HP. 1st attack 6 pts, 2nd attack 9 HP. PLEASE read the posts more thoroughly. We have to spend an inordinate amount of time retconning.
As far as burning the door / temple... Only one way to find out :-).
Coronus While your action is brave it's really not possible. The stairs are difficult terrain for you, and you have to move through multiple characters to even get too Kaia. 40' of movement would get you to the square just behind Lysander in the latest map. In addition Kaia is still stuck to the door, and still alive. So pulling her out would only offset the disadvantage to the grapple check she would need to pull away. If she were dead it would take an opposed STR Check to pull her free, and retreating with her would evoke an AoO if you had any movement left to do so.
Kaia You are not dead, just grappled. If you wish to attack with a light weapon you may. If you wish to try to escape the grapple you may. Or you could hold action, and hope someone with movement left can offer you assistance so you don't roll with disadvantage to escape.
Supreme Being |
Okay. I'm giving it till noon for you guys to change your actions, then I'm going to move the game along. Kaia... you need to change your action, as lot of the others reactions depend upon what you do.
Coronus the centaur |
Does the team have any healing potion loot? I thought so, but cannot find. Lysander needs some.

Wow! I guess my last post about Novyn was a portent. Seriously, I understand, have been there myself. If you want to come back to the game, just let me know, as I probably won't recruit as long as we have enough players.
Supreme Being |
I imagine so. I know I will be busy. I’ll probably get you guys to the next step to set up and then resume on Monday
Mateo Nikas |
Indeed! I'll be busy with the 4th aaaaannnnddd the 5th is my birthday. Turning 31 that day.

Hi people. Wanted to ask a few questions. Are you guys comfortable with the pace of the game? It seems to really drag when there is not an obvious threat. I almost feel like I'm having to write out what you guys choose to do, instead of reacting to your choices, which makes the game drag... I'm waiting for you guys to tell me what you're doing, but nobody seems to want to take the bull by the horns and move the game along.
Please tell me what I can do to make the game move better, and give more enjoyment to you guys. This is a game that requires a lot of player input... because YOU are the heroes. I this instance here, everybody has pretty much agreed to go to Estoria first, but nobody has said "We're leaving in an hour and blank will be leading the way. And asking the NPC's leading questions might reveal more information.
I know this type of game probably works better in a face to face, tabletop environment, but I need a little more guidance as to what your expectations, are and what makes the game more enjoyable for you. Again, I know you're all very talented gamers, as I've gamed with most of you in the past, so what can I do to help you become more proactive.
Thanks for listening to my Rant, and please feel free to be honest with your assessment. Constructive criticism is a surefire way to improve.

Hi GM
Thanks for the opportunity. I would suggest that you push forward. Momentum is the life blood of PbP. After players have had enough time with the current scene, just go ahead and post the next scene/encounter. It doesn't have to be a threat, it could be a new NPC to speak to. If players want to interact in the previous scene (due to delays in RL), be open to posting reactions to both scenes in a single post.
Coronus has interacted with Proteus without much success but not Kyrah. Just accept our posting as what we want. If we miss opportunities with NPCs, that's on us players.
We should have a standard marching order when outside, and just use that. If we wanted to change it but didn't tell you, that's on us. Or, on your mercy for retcon.
If RL prevents players to post, then be flexible to retcon. I think it's better to push characters, because it subtly motivates players to post.
That's my two coppers.
cheers

Thanks for the input Jubal.
Thank you for interacting with the NPC's. Unfortunately Proteus has almost nothing to do with the overall plot of the game. He'll most likely never be heard from again. I've tried to push talking to Kyrah more, but as a god she's never going to give a "go here" " do this" answer.
I'll try to be more aggressive with pushing action on the PC's, but everyone posting "I'll just follow along with the rest of the group". only results in the entire group walking in circles. :-)
Maybe I'm just not cut out to be a PbP GM. (Note: just an observation not a complaint). To me if the players don't push the plot, then I'm just reading them the module, and they're rolling dice when required... and that's not much fun for me.
I like it when the players through the strength of their personalities push forward to a common goal. Right now there is some developing character synergy, but also many act on their own when the pressure is on. I expect this, and know that as the game develops this will take on a life of it's own, but I don't get much enjoyment from just reading the module out loud.
I'll post this afternoon, and give things a while to develop, but right now the game has slowed to a crawl, and don't know how much more energy I should invest if it's not returned... and the GOAL is for everybody involved to have fun!!!

Sorry for the delay here, I was planning on giving this eloquent and masterful post when I was suddenly struck with a massive migraine.
I agree with everything that Jubal said up there. I looked back and noticed we talked about having a marching order, sleep schedule, all that good stuff but I think we got distracted by the fight and didn't come back to it. When I don't have a game in the evening to do, I will definitely post up a suggestion to run by with people.
I definitely need to talk to the NPCs more, it is a bad habit of mine that I don't. I think once we arrived in Estoria (or along the way) would be a great time to ask some questions about the God that resides there and our other quest goal. Truthfully, this is the part of the campaign I've been waiting for; we've received our prophecies and have a variety of goals and quests to accomplish. Time to go out into the world and cause some mayhem...err...save the world!
I am down for continuing as long as you are willing but I don't want to force you to do so either. You should be having as much fun as we are, otherwise what is the point?
That's my two cents on it anyways.

Hi Guys. Stresses of job change after 25 years have me mentally spent. I'll try to get something up this weekend, but if not I'll get back in the saddle on Monday. Sorry about all the drama.

How many cultists are there and how many people seem to be on their side?

How many cultists are there and how many people seem to be on their side?
Seven... it's in the original description. The crowd seems to be split about 50/50.
Mateo Nikas |
Sorry, I must have missed it with the after-work brainfart. Thank you :)

Sorry, I must have missed it with the after-work brainfart. Thank you :)
No problem. Seven can easily be transmitted into Several in our quick read brain :-)

Sorry about the delay in posting. I had no internet from Friday to Today cause Centurylink is awesome like that (it was a whole thing, but I don't wanna get into it right now). I should have a post up shortly.

How. How the heck am I going to avoid this moment.
Supreme Being |
Let me take a moment to clarify the relationship between worshipers of the Titans, and worship of the Gods. They are not openly hostile, but more coexistent. You're neighbor might be a supporter of the Titans but you're still on friendly terms. In most cases it's not directly confrontational.
In this example, the treaty allows sacrifices. While the leaders of the Cult of Sydon might be directly tormenting Prythor by choosing his daughter as the sacrifice, the treaty "only" requires sacrifice... not a particular sacrifice. So not saying they can be negotiated with, but as long as the letter of the law concerning the treaty is followed there is wriggle room... much like real law, so don't think that your options are railroaded. Their are more options, and none are guaranteed.
Supreme Being |
Is it the type of situation where the sacrifice must be made by Pythor, but if we interrupt and save her he still made the sacrifice?
Maybe. Who knows the thoughts of Titans :-)
Keep in mind this is not a sacrifice from Prythor... it is a sacrifice demanded by the leaders of the Cult of Sydon. Subtle but perhaps important distinction. They demanded that Anora be sacrificed but who can pin the blame on the choice of victims on Sydon. Perhaps it is only from his Cult leaders. This is a very political campaign... and little is as it seems on the surface.
Mateo Nikas |
I don't really think it is railroaded, I just don't see much gained in the way of appeasement with the Cult of Sydon. It is interesting that relationship though, you'd think having a neighbor who worships a deity who wishes to destroy you and everything you love and care for would cause more friction that way. I had been viewing the cult as a necessary evil; a more fringe organization that had to exist and has grown in strength as the end of the treaty approached.
Coronus the centaur |
So the Cult of Sydon could be lying about Sydon requiring Anora, right?
We could demand to see the written request from Sydon, since we've seen one to the Hag. And call BS if they don't produce it within 2 weeks, and instead sacrifice 50 cows on the Rock of Sacrifice, right?
Does that make sense?
Supreme Being |
I think it's important to differentiate between "The Cult of Sydon" and the rank and file worshipers of the Titans. They are not one and the same. The Cult openly promotes the issues and causes of the Titans, while the rank and file pay their respects and hope they've made the right choice. Chances are if the gods win out in the end they'll suddenly worship the gods. Path of least resistance.
Mateo Nikas |
@Coronus - I think she was just sent on a mission for the Titan and he doesn't send out to his usual followers. We could still ask and find out why.
@All - I am tempted to cash in our favor owed to us by Kyrah to get the whole story of this situation since it seems like we're missing a bunch but we're not being told about it since Pythor is an angry drunk. What do you guys think?
Supreme Being |
Kyrah would be willing to share a limited amount of information. More and it would give away much of the plot of the adventure. Much of the mystery is designed to be uncovered by your efforts, not by asking someone the answers. Some examples might be
* Kyrah - Who leads the Cult of Sydon in Estoria
* Are preparations being made to combat the hostile forces if the need arises.
* You've already been given the name of Volkan, the Dwarven Father of both Kyrah and Prythor to visit.
* Unlike most adventures there is not a rush to complete things. You've got 3-weeks before the next sacrifice is due. Perhaps completing one of the tasks might give you more answers.
In summary, the more information I give you the less the enjoyment of finding out what's happening on your own. I've tried to step things up a bit without making you ask for everything, but I don't want to give away plot.

Yes. Political games/settings are challenging on PBP, because nuance and history are difficult to communicate and maintain.
To avoid the characters doing something completely stupid, I would suggest as much GM hints as possible. Even with clear hints, I still find characters make stupider decisions, because it fits better the direction and role play of the character, even though the player may know what the better decision to be.
I'm all on board to spend whatever favors we have to understand more what's going on.
cheers

HI. Sorry about the slow responses. Starting a new job... and moving the office today, so I'll try to end you suspense by tonight... tomorrow at the latest. Things should return to normal soon. Just wanted to let you know I hadn't forgotten you. :-)
Mateo Nikas |
I'll have a post up tomorrow, today has been insane and I don't got the spoons for a worthy post. <3
Mateo Nikas |
Awww...nothing for the Santa Claus mention. I thought that was a neat thing he did in the canon.
Skyreave |
Hey folks so this is Vrog Skyreaver/Kaia.
Unfortunately, I have some bad news. I currently do not have access to my main account. I have opened a ticket to Paizo, but from the email I got back from them, it's not looking like I'll be able to access my account any time soon.
I would have posted sooner but I didn't even think about making an alt until now.
As it's not fair to everyone to make me wait, I'm going to withdraw from the game. If I get me account fixed and the game is still ongoing, I'll reach back out to see about joining.
Thank you for letting me play with you all, and I hope you all have a great game!
Mateo Nikas |
I'll have a post up later tonight. <3
Mateo Nikas |
I too crave that sweet level up but if we don't get it, it is cool. I realized that we're now the traditional D&D party; a rogue, a fighter, a cleric, and a wizard.
Mateo Nikas |
I got a pretty nasty migraine today folks so if necessary, feel free to bot me. Mateo is very against fighting the centaurs, he believes that being peaceful would be best.
