Cheshire had been doing a dance that looked like running but still didn't move him from the general location. When Sarya tried to pick him up he continued to move erratically, "I'm sorry."

Kasana Windfoot |

"Oh Hells! Gazul we can't leave him behind." Kasana cursed as she turned back around and hid behind a tree near the gnome and elf.

Throw Light Hammer: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (12) + 6 = 18
Damage: 1d4 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 4 = 8
”Fall back behind me!” Gazul roared. He dropped his crossbow, not bothering to reload it, and in one fluid motion sent his hammer flying at the nearest hobgoblin. It glanced off of the warrior’s shin in a blow which had to be painful, but unfortunately wasn’t clean enough to break the leg. The dwarf was ready for the coming charge, with shield in one hand and the other already reaching for his axe.

Orthos of Nethys |

Orthos stops and focuses before ripping out a bolt of fire... targeted at the closest enemy. Typically the shot misses again and flies over his foes shoulder.
He then casts shilleilegh on his staff.
1d20 + 5 ⇒ (7) + 5 = 12 for 1d10 ⇒ 1

Kasana Windfoot |

"Get hon ed- -o hi!" Kasana shouted to Sarya in Elvish, unconsicuous of the fact that she had just done so.
With fatigue really beginning to hit her, she fell back behind the dwarf as she concentrated on the goblins in front of her. Mustering up a little bit more natural energy, she fired off another shot at the one who had avoided Gazul's ire. Transforming mid-flight into a bundle of coiling vines, she watched as it successfully wrapped itself around the soldiers legs, tripping him up and wounding him with their poisoned barbs.
Attack (Bow): 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (15) + 8 = 23
Damage (Bow) + Grasping Arrow: 1d8 + 2d6 + 4 ⇒ (1) + (3, 4) + 4 = 12
Grasping Arrow: A creature hit by the arrow takes an extra 2d6 poison damage, its speed is reduced by 10 ft., and it takes 2d6 slashing damage the first time on each turn it moves 1 ft. or more. The brambles last for 1 minute, until you use this option again, or until any creature uses an action to remove them with an Athletics check (DC 13)

Gazul Ironfist |

Seeing both his hammer and the arrow hit home, Gazul felt a small surge of hope. Maybe they could do this! But a glance at Sarya, filled with arrows and covered in blood, and Cheshire stuck in a furious dance routine, refilled him with dread. This could still go either way...

WIS: 1d20 ⇒ 3
The dance kept going and going. "Why am I dancing?" There was a sad desperation to his voice. His eyes went wide when the hobgoblins got close. "Come on gobbers hit me." He yelled taunting at the hobgoblins. "I blew the bridge, I burned your camp and now I dance on you hopes. How do hope for victory if you can't stop one very silly gnome." Cheshire looked at his allies, "Well if they are trying to hit me they aren't trying to hit you."

Sarya coughed up blood from the arrow shot. She still tried picking up the dancing gnome. She saw Gazul take a position to defend them and was thankful for it.
Gnome pick up: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (20) - 1 = 19
Something came up over her and she grabbed the gnome with only one hand and she dragged him away, although he was still flailing his dancing arms and legs. "You can dance at home." she told him.

"She's got me run."

Gazul Ironfist |

Gazul felt the twin blows, but he held his ground. He figured that this would be where he died. He knew that their attack would have ended poorly. What was the chance that they could have stormed a fortification? But at least now his friends could get away, and when it came to casualties they’d be ahead. It was as good a death as any. He hoped that this was how his sister felt when she died. He circled around the hobgoblin, hoping to get more trees between him and the archers. It couldn’t be easy to fire into the woods like they were doing. They were certainly a credit to their training. Figuring that he was already dead, the dwarf found it easy to swing his weapon under the hobgoblin’s guard, as it felt like time had slowed down. The familiar impact ran up his arm..he just wished that he had the internal fortitude to call upon his God’s wrath. But the failing was his, not Torag’s...he just hoped that he could distract them long enough for his friends to get some distance. Maybe then he could flee as well...?

We're almost through this! Kasana thought to herself as she fired at the last of the hobgoblins.

"Let's move! Kasana yelled out as soon as the coast was clear, beginning to runaway with the others back towards the forest.

Orthos of Nethys |

Dammit... what a way to go, the priest muttered.

He edged further away, setting up his escape then shot off another ineffectual bolt of fire... consistently missing for the fifth or sixth time.

Sarya saw that they were jumping the hobgoblin. She noticed that, without planning it, they had done the best tactic they could, fire at the enemy as they approached, then focus attacks on the few lucky ones who survived the onslaught. She let go of the gnome and took an arrow from her quiver. She was in no condition to fight the hobgoblin up close, but Gazul was in an advantageous position. She focused on her bow which she had left on a bush and it materialized in her hand. She completed the motion and the arrow flew towards the hobgoblin.
Using Weapon Bond to summon my bow back to me.
Shoot: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (2) + 5 = 7
Damage: 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (7) + 3 = 10
However, she hadn't practiced this motion enough as the sinew was the last to materialize and the arrow thumped on the ground.
Damn, this was supposed to be such a dramatic shot!

Cheshire when he first was picked up held up his hand and pointed his toes like it was part of the dance routine. Though the spell returned him to flailing about in his dance. Finally after a moment he stilled. "I think I am good."
Once placed down he smiles and starts to move along the path they are fleeing.

Orthos of Nethys |

It looks like...*pant*... they had enough...*pant*.... for now, Orthos gasped in pain and fatigue. Lets... put *wheeze* some distance between us. They'll hunt us... *pant* soon enough... the leader needs scalps... *cough* or he won't be a leader long.

Gazul Ironfist |

Gazul managed to keep his breath, for the most part. Or, at the very least he was able to hide his exertion. But inside he was shaken. Their raid had technically been a success, as they had killed a number of hobgoblins and wargs without losing any of their own number. But looking around at the accumulated wounds of the group it felt wrong to celebrate, especially as he had been certain that he was going to die. He handed over his goodberries to Orthos. "Yer wound look worse than mine." He said, quietely.

Sarya patted Cheshire on the back and said "So, it looks like you're quite the dancer, huh? When you start you'll just go on and on and on..." She wasn't sure if she meant it as a joke or as criticism. In fact, now that she was starting to get a feel on her own body, she felt the intense pain she felt from the fight. She cuts and bruises and was barely conscious. She chugged down the four goodberries Orthos gave her earlier.
She agreed with Orthos, of course. In fact she was having trouble thinking, with all the excitement. She turned to the others and said "We've done well. Attack from a favorable position, let them come to us, and looking out for each other. I feel like we're learning." She decided where they should rally and said "We should go to that trap we made. It gives us some terrain advantage as we recover. Also, I think we shouldn't wait long before we strike again. We shouldn't give them time to rally. A short rest will do."

Gazul Ironfist |

”A short rest?” Gazul chuckled. ”Look at us. We’re not in any shape. Let them keep watch over night and worry about their dead. Then as the sun rises we hit again, just when they think we’re nay coming back. Make them tired while we be rested and healed. We do that and we all may live. We attack again without patching our wounds? Chances are some of us won’t be coming back.”

Kasana Windfoot |

"I think I agree with Gazul on this one." Kasana commented tiredly as the high of their daring attack was beginning to fade; the pain of all of her wounds quickly taking their place. "If we think everyone back at the caverns can hold out for a while longer, I think we should make them sweat it out for a couple of days; force them to grow tired as they stay awake waiting for a second attack that's not immediately imminent. And besides, we could probably use a couple days rest as well after all we've been through."

Cheshire Silvanshee |

Cheshire endured the chiding with good spirits. "I have felt that spell before. Certain fey use it as a torture. I think in my fury I . . . well you saw what happened."

Kasana Windfoot |

"I have felt that spell before. Certain fey use it as a torture. I think in my fury I . . . well you saw what happened."
"Is there no way to control what type of magic is realeased?" Kasana asked as they moved further away from the Ironfang Camp.

Cheshire Silvanshee |

Cheshire thought for a moment, "Define control."

As they finally rested, Sarya collapsed on the ground and said "Rest... good." She cleaned the sweat and briefly discussed the watch rounds with the others and did her part.
Hid dice: 3d10 + 6 ⇒ (9, 8, 10) + 6 = 33
After resting, she proposed "So how long do you suppose we wait until we return?" She asked to no one in particular.

During the afternoon
After the group had caught their breath, Kasana stood up and said, "We should probably backtrack a bit and hid our trail if possible. I agree with you all that they're probably going to start searching for us soon." Having spent a bit of time with her new comrades, she had a general idea of what was needed to disguise their trail and thought she did a decent job of it all things considered.
Survival?: 1d20 ⇒ 16
At night
"I'll take first watch if someone can take the second." Kasana shared as she shuffled off to a spot with a good vantage point of the surrounding area. Taking out her tools, she began to whittle away some replacement arrows and crossbow bolts? for everyone to pass the time; when she was relieved of her watch, she fell asleep almost instantly into a dreamless slumber.
The following morning
Kasana woke up the following morning sore all over. Though she knew she had pushed herself hard yesterday, it was still surprised all the same how generally stiff she was. Better stiff then dead I suppose she thought to herself as she awoke and gathered with the others. Turning to Sarya, she said, "I don't know. Yesterday, making them sweat it out a couple of days sounded like the best plan. But mulling it over a bit, I'm worried if we wait too long, they might get reinforcements. Maybe we should strike today? What does everyone else think?"

Fabian Benavente |

Orthos of Nethys |

The priest arose somewhat more refreshed than what he thought he'd be but he didn't really start to feel good until after his morning prayers. He felt a renewal of hope. Last nights raid was... well... as successful as expected given previous trends, but they survived and that was something... they'd also killed that bugger with the fireballs, or at least he thought they had, and that was something else.
I'm all for a return, hunting them as they hunt us. They're not likely to hunt us in one solid mass. Probably split in two groups, one at camp and one looking to find us for pay back. Either that or they are going to pull back into the camp like a turtle into its shell.
Spent two HD, get one back from rest or is it two (rounding up)?

Action 2
"I agree.", said Sarya shortly to Kasana and Orthos. After a light meal, she makes sure her gear is ready to go. She looked at the sword with dark metal in her hand and wondered what its history is, but this was not the time for it. She turned to Kasana and said "I took this from the tower guards. It could come in handy." and hands her the extra quiver she found.

Kasana Windfoot |

Spent two HD, get one back from rest or is it two (rounding up)?
I think it's round down. Kasana got one HD back after using all 3 during her Long Rest
Kasana thanked Sarya in Elvish for the quiver before adding, "You may all be right, but they may have set up an ambush of their own. We could use this opportunity to return to the others and continue on while they recover or regroup.

Orthos of Nethys |

Orthos appears to consider this for a long moment before replying.
The heart tells me returning to our people and fleeing would be good... but my head tells me that the leader is smarting for revenge and would harry our flight. We would be very easy to track. No. I think we need to crush them and remove all risk.

Kasana Windfoot |

"Very well then." Kasana began as she rose to her feet, wincing slightly. "No point delaying then. But we I think we should change which direction we approach from. If they're expecting us, it'll probably be from the direction we fled."

![]() |

"True.", Sarya said. "We should make sure we're upwind so our scent doesn't give us up. Also, we should set a retreating point with traps so that we can pretend to be chased and lure any followers into an ambush.", she continued thinking strategically and learning from their mistakes.

"I'll leave the trap making to you. I can scout ahead while you all set that that up." Kasana replied.

Sarya noted to the others "It seems empty. Maybe we're meant to believe that they left. Or they did leave. We could stake out, but by doing so we could waste a lot of time waiting for people who won't come. I suggest we take a closer look to determine if it is abandoned."

Cheshire Silvanshee |

What state is the camp burn wise. Is the tower still standing? The tents that we can't see inside from the ridge are they burned down or still standing?

Cheshire Silvanshee |

Have a great time!!!
