"We better avoid the goat" observing the watchtower Ohrmizd remembers that was one of the last locations they have not visited yet "Why don't we move into the watchtower. We wait for the hyena patrol first, and after we finish them, then we head up into the watchtower and find out what is there"
"Fine with me. Lets wait for one to come out and then ambush them when they are a bit farther away from the city."
I assume Ohrmizd will be responsible for finding a good ambush spot?

Foxy Quickpaw |

Out of town doesn't really work, as the gnolls don't leave. The most they get outside is walking on the rampart to the south and passing the bridge at the north end to check on that side. Actually it shows the best spot for an ambush is behind the palace (B8) as it is hidden from sight from the watchtower and offers enough hiding places.
Ornage spot moved. If you agree you just have to tell, what patrol you want.

Ohrmizd |

^ That was my between the lines reading after Foxy's post on what we saw on our wait, they are not commonly moving out of town, so we have to go and engage them inside.
Ohrmizd leads the group to behind the palace (B8) "I do not mind which patrol we engage first, but you commented before you thought the only gnolls one to be easier. If that makes you feel more comfortable, I am fine to go for the only gnolls one first"

"I believe the hyenas might spot us by smell before we can spring our ambush, therefore I would think our chances are better against a pure Gnoll party.
And Gnolls have a better chance of carrying usable equipment than hyenas."
Yes Manuun prefers a patrol of 4 gnolls.

Manuun tkes a short step and intones ルツルツ with his flask of oil in his hands. In the mids of the gnolls a greased square appears, making it very slippery to move.
A grease spell covers a solid surface with a layer of slippery grease. Any creature in the area when the spell is cast must make a successful Reflex save or fall. A creature can walk within or through the area of grease at half normal speed with a DC 10 Acrobatics check. Failure means it can’t move that round (and must then make a Reflex save or fall), while failure by 5 or more means it falls (see the Acrobatics skill for details). Creatures that do not move on their turn do not need to make this check and are not considered flat-footed.

As the next gnoll in initiative is unconscious, can Manuun and Ohrmizd go with actions?

Besides Ohrmizd there are two more persons who have a history with Haleen. Omari the Landless and Roryx. They were devastated as she simply disappeared, but there was nothing they could do abck then. But after years they got wind of a place where she might be now. And they were set to find her and save her from any peril that had befallen her. They wouldn't had let the opportunity slide to repay the kindness Haleen had met them with.
Truth be told the hint wasn't as much about Haleen, but about Ohrmizd going to find her. When they got wind that he left, they simply decided to follow. Haleen or whoever made her disappear did a really good job at hiding any tracks, but Ohrmizd did not. He told everyone why and where he was leaving and asked plenty of people on the way about Haleen.
Omari and Roryx simply followed his tracks. When they arrived in Bronze Hook they werre a week late. But the innkeep remembered clearly the hiring of a group and a man asking for Haleen, after a generous tip.
He sent them on the way to the Sultan's Claw. The burnt down wagon was easy enough to find and in the dry climate with no rain in the last month the tracks of a whole caravan with a small herd of goats need no expert to follow.
And finally, they stand at the ruins of an old monastery, that is suprisingly shows signs of occupation.
We'll follow up on that after the fight.

Ohrmizd flashes as the stream of colors continues coming from Heshan like craziness.

Manuun starts to search the Gnolls for useful weapons and valueables.

Ohrmizd |

"Sure, please tell me they have my magical scimitar and ring, or at least that useless phylactery ugly like hell" Ohrmizd surrounds the grease and watches for the fleeing gnoll. He tries to assess if the gnoll stops somewhere or goes through a path they could shot at him.

Considerably stronger Ohrmizd joins the group to depose the gnolls of their belongings "Perhaps it is better that you have a look Heshan"
"We will need any armor or weapon we can scrape. At least to return to Father Zastoran, and perhaps help equip some of the mercenaries" the man makes a disgusting grimace when he removes the armor from the first gnoll "Puaggg! Did you know they had that between the legs? I feel pity for gnoll ladies now"
Ohrmizd equips one of the heavy wooden shields and picks up a couple of spears to have something for throwing at his enemies.
As soon as they complete the scavenging or the alert rises, Ohrmizd press on everyone to run back to the Pesh fields and the Monastery.

"Halt, who is there?" one of the mercenaries barks as the two strangers approach.

Roryx |

In the distance, he sees three figures trudging towards him. He gives Roryx a nudge and asks: "Hey Roryx, is that Ohrmzid coming with those other 2 guys over there?"
"Looks like him..." - the half orc squints.
"Halt, who is there?" one of the mercenaries barks as the two strangers approach.
"Well met" - Roryx nods back from the shade of his cowl, hands in plain sight and unarmed - "We are travelers, looking for one we know - and we were told he would be here, inside these monastery ruins"

Omari the Landless |

Stopping at a safe distance, Omari replies, "I am Omari and this is Roryx. As Roryx said, we are looking for a friend of ours, who has supposedly fallen in with the expedition to resettle Kelmarane. Have we found the expedition?"

Omari the Landless |

From the inside appears Garavel to check on the visitors. "Friends of Ohrmizd you say... interesting."
He musters the new arrivals for a while, then he adds "What kind of friends are you? Does he owe you money that you follow him out here?"
"Old friends from our collectively misspent youths. No he doesn't owe us money, but it's likely he has some information that would be very important to us. Now, I have answered your questions, yet neither you nor your guard here have answered mine. Clearly, you know Ohrmizd, so presumably he has been here. So please do introduce yourself, and then tell us where we can find Ohrmizd?"

Garavel __ |

"My name is Garavel and I'm here with Pricess Almah Rovehski on behalf of the Pactmasters of Katapesh."
After a short pause for effect he continues. "That Ohrmizd you're speaking of is in my service. I don't know when exactly he will be back, but you can wait inside, if you leave your weapons with the guards until Ohrmizd can confirm what you're telling.
Or if you prefer not to part with your weapons, you can of course wait outside."

Roryx |

"Omari?" - Roryx turns to his companion - "What say you?"
How is it outside the monastery Foxy? Any place where we can wait out in the shade, away from the hot weather? Roryx has a Hot Weather outfit, but still... :D
