First we need a way to defeat this darkness. After that if we still need blood I will volunteer.

The darkness is not tied to the creature, the blood bowl thing is a good idea however, should also mention that the creature is intelligent and can even be negotiated with but can only speak aklo

What I think we need to do is to get that continual light spell on the ioun stone heightened to be able to overcome the darkness. Such an item could be useful to us for a long time.

We can certainly try that first. Stanislav agrees. Might take some time and even require some luck.

The orders that can be given to reginald are fairly simple. He is mindless and cannot perform complex orders. He is pretty much limited to move here, follow, attack, defend commands even asking him to carry a torch would be beyond his ability to comprehend.

he can use weapons, so could carry a torch, but yeah, beyond that, he isn't particularly intelligent... kinda happens when your brain rots away haha.

The room is likely far too large to do so effectively. I do agree however, having a stone that can dispel powerful darkness spells may be useful at a later date as well. At the very least, we will know that it would be unlikely for an enemy to be able to turn out the lights on us.

yeah bad example he could hold a torch I just took that as an example since I was reading up on it and it said they cant use objects. I am assuming that Reginald has all the same limitations as a creature animated using the spell animated dead correct me if I'm wrong.

wizard HP: 36/36| AC: 13 T:13 FF:10|CMD:14 Fort: +4 Ref:+6 Will+6| Init: +7 Perception:+5 Lowlight, darkvision

that seems to be the case, ergo, I don't think I can slap heavy armor on it, despite really wanting to. That said, it may be fun if I could take some feats to slowly improve it as I level. (would require level prereqs tied to spells, like maybe one to give it normal animal companion int once I can create intelligent undead. etc. Fine either way. This just got me thinking.

I have put forth a plan. We leave and get the enchantment we need to pierce the darkness. That mist creature heals from blood and can retreat into the the floor. We need to at least be able to target it.

I think that is what your doing then. You retreat for the moment and give some money (330 gold) to the maid (I forgot her name lol) so she can go get what you need. A heightened (4th level) continual flame ioun stone that will overcome the darkness. While you wait for her to return you get some rest. She returns a few hours later with what you asked for. It would be around noon-ish at this point since it was early morning when you entered the first room. If there is anything else you would like now if your chance.

She gives the full amount of gold to Tiadora to buy the continual flame ioun stone, and some silver for the oil.

When Tiadora gives her the items later in the day she packs them away. Once they back at the entrance to the dark room, she takes out the ioun stone and gives it to Stan, Here you go Stan. Rather you hold this above my head, saving me from a tired arm to hold it above my head. She takes out an alchemist's fire too, plus one oil flask in the other hand.

@slid not unless you rest 8 hours

In any case you return to the room were the darkness is and the heightened ioun stone is able to overcome the darkness and light up the room.

The room is 20 by 20 with a pedestal in the centre with dark sphere placed on it. There is a door in the centre of each wall to the south, north and east.
The opening you come in from is to the west of the room.

The creature that attacked Slid is nowhere to be seen, you assume it is somewhere below the floor as you can see the small holes placed evenly all over the entire room now.

How big is this ball?

I do agree. Let us keep the dark ball. I sure I can find a use of it. I sure our misty friend here will remain hidden below the floor, if we just leave a burning torch in the room, as she prepares to take the ball from pedestal to cover it up using her cloak.

Once the ball is taken care of, she looks around the room, especially the pedestal for the silver trophy they supposed to find.

about the size and weight of a bowling ball bit bigger. ~10 inch diameter ~15 pounds

R'yzztyg is first to approach the pedestal and try to reach for the orb. The most creature attacks coming out of the tiny holes in the floor it quickly begins to suck the blood out of R'yzztyg (kinda feels like being stung by a million mosquitoes all at once) dealing 1 bleed damage and 1d3 ⇒ 3 con.

Does it not have to roll to hit? I figured it would use touch attacks, will likely hit but not 100%. I drank that potion of Protection from Evil to add 2 to my touch AC, making it a 14.

Magic Glaive: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (18) + 6 = 241d10 + 4 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 4 + 3 = 10

I don't believe you can use touch of corruption for an AOO, the ability cant be held so you lost it when you missed and would need to recast to do it again.

Seems it's attack does indeed need a touch attack, I was treating like a swarm attack. So lets see. The initial attack on sid was pretty much auto hit so I wont reroll that one but I will roll the one on R'yzztyg.
R'yzztyg attack vs touch ac: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (14) + 7 = 21

If that thing will stay in its den below the floor and let us pass then perhaps it is for the best that we did not not have to kill one of our new master's pets. Stanislav conjectures.
