Working on a raft: Crafting: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 4 = 6
Working on or helping with the forgeries: Society is +4
"This wood is in terrible shape. Most of it is too thin, and the pieces that aren't, are too short.
A purchase is beginning to appeal."

![]() |

Kain spends his time working on some documents. He thinks he has 3 sets that should pass muster. (*for whom?)

![]() |

Fortiva fails to make a raft.
Did you have Filch guiding you throught the sewers? I haven't checked back, and will, but if you did, I assume you invited him in to stay here.

![]() |

Yes, you did.
"I tried to hire out some boats, but none of the fishermen were willing to risk the trip. Maybe you can do better?"

![]() |

Note: there is no provision to buy boats in PFS currently, as the only vehicles are in GMG

![]() |

We are reaching the morning of day 3, right? So we have a full day, and night if needed, to craft the rafts?
"We can transport some of the best wood out to the Cove, and those with the skill can spend the day trying to reinforce them."

![]() |

"Good thinking, Master Sanja. Then we'll hardly have to worry about the task of carrying out a fully assembled raft, let alone how to disguise such a thing."

![]() |

Bazerofan sulks a bit, but doesn't stop thinking. Eventually, he begins to consider skipping the Shard Cove rendezvous altogether and getting everyone aboard the Merry Mayfly instead. He mentions the possibility, concluding: "...excepting the giant, how hard could it be to sneak a handful of additional guests, two of them small children, past the guards? Why, we could even use the crates that I haven't yet mangled to conceal them. It's certainly better than risking a drowning."

![]() |

Flitch says, "Well, I don't know about that. There might be a place to hide a boat or something in the sewers, but I wouldn't leave it out in the open in Shard's Cove.
"As it happens, though, I do know someone that has a couple of rowboats. You'll need to sneak them through the sewers, and it probably won't come cheaply. But, I can put you in touch.
"Also, does Yuleg still have those barrels that he keeps his pickled fish in? I'll bet you could turn some of those in to rafts."
Been chatting with the author and I think we should be able to hire a boat or two. Rowboats, FYI, hold 2 passengers plus a pilot. If you are ferrying out 5 people, and you want to accompany them, you'll need room for 11 folks. That'd be 3 rafts or 4 rowboats.

![]() |

Tanaka is able to put together two documents that he thinks will pass muster.
for whom?
Anyone else crafting or drafting tonight?

![]() |

Though she has little skill for forgery, Erryn does her best to check the work of her comrades.
I can use a Perception check to double-check these like with the ones Flitch made, right?

![]() |

Are we ready to move on? Where are you going, and what are you all doing? Pretty open right now.
What you have right now:
- Contacted everyone you were supposed to
- Fake documents for Themolin, Yuleg, Dafrid, Vurna, and Flitch(?)[/ooc]
- Plans to meet up with Garrla
- Someone to talk to about boats.
- Barrels that could be converted to rafts at Yuleg's

![]() |

Sounds like a plan to me.
"I can make my way to meet with Garrla. Anyone wish to join me?" Kain says, stretching after having written a bunch of travel papers. A few of his bones pop from sitting too long.

![]() |

The Garrla meeting is for the morning We are leaving, not today or even tomorrow.
Fortiva suggests that talking to someone about the rowboats sounds like a good plan, considering their inability to put together a single raft at the warehouse.
She also suggests going to the docks and checking out the guard that Garrla mentioned - and on whom they have blackmail material taken from Themolin's desk.

![]() |

Thank you for the correction, Fortiva!
Erryn covers a yawn before saying, "Yes, agreed."

![]() |

Highwire nods. "Yes, since I cannot help with the crafting, I will happily help coordinate obtaining the boats."
I must have missed the bit about the blackmail material

![]() |

I swiped a document showing that the guard (Ellvard) sold a forged painting to the runelord for good money.
"Let's talk to Themolin's contact about the boats first. Purchase what we can, then we'll know if we need to convert some barrels. Get everything into the sewers and ready for tomorrow.
Worst case, that giant ought to be able to help in the heat of the moment."
"Once that is done, and we feel good about the Cove, some or all of us might want to check out this Ellvard character. Get a feeling for whether we can blackmail him when it comes time to leave on our boat with all of our extra 'crew'.
It's not a critical thing to do today... but if we have time."
I feel we're in pretty good shape for the Cove tomorrow morning, as long as we can sort the rowboat / barrel situation.
And our successes at forging papers for people leaving with us should also put us in good shape for the final day.

![]() |

Note: the evidence all points to the same guard!
Who is going back to the inn, and who is talking to the boat rental guy?

![]() |

I believe that Bazerofan & Fortiva are the only two that have Crafting ability, so if someone is going to back to the inn and try to turn the barrels into rafts, it should probably be them. I would expect a dwarven innkeeper to have some crafting skill, so perhaps the NPC can help out ...?
Highwire is going to the boat rental place ... but can I offer the suggestion that perhaps renting the boats isn't something that needs fully roleplayed out, particularly since it seems like it wasn't built into the scenario. I am fine with just finding out if we can afford the boats and deciding out of character how we're handling things, and then fast forwarding ahead to the next day at the Cove (or other event that comes up before then).

![]() |

I should probably head back to the Inn to check in on Vurna. Depending on how she's doing I'll either want to use treat disease on her again or use that scroll of remove disease and then go catch up. If Fortiva is too busy to go blackmail the guard, I can help. I'm not quite as scary as her but Intimidation is my divine skill. :P

![]() |

Back to the inn, I guess.

![]() |

Back at the inn after 2 hours!
Fortiva, Bazerofan, and Erryn make it back to the inn.
Erryn can easily tell that Vurna is still pretty sick, probably in "stage 2" of filth fever. While she can travel, she could use some more treatment.
Fortiva and Bazerofan think that they should be able to build rafts that can hold 4 people, total, out of a pickled fish barrel. They may be a little aromatic, but the sturdy barrels are made of solid wood.
At the boat rental after 2 hours!
Kain and Highwire make their way to the place Themolin suggested. It is small outfitter that rents out canoes and rowboats for excursions around the island city.
As you enter, the man asks, "Καλημέρα, κύριοι. Τι μπορώ να κάνω για σένα?"
It is in Thassalonian, which neither of you know!

![]() |

Seeing that Vurna hasn't improved much in her absence, Erryn digs around in her backpack until she finds the scroll of remove disease."Here we go," she says, pulling the scroll out and standing up.
"This will take some time, but it should help you feel much better," Erryn says to the girl, before she begins casting from the scroll.
Remove Disease: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (18) + 7 = 25
Success Counteract the target if its counteract level is no more than 1 level higher than your effect’s counteract level.
Failure Counteract the target if its counteract level is lower than your effect’s counteract level.
Critical Failure You fail to counteract the target.
This is the first time I've actually done a counteract action, so let me know if I'm doing this incorrectly. I feel like that's probably a Success, if not a Critical Success, so hopefully Vurna should just be 100% cured now!

![]() |

Actually, I think it was Themolin
In heavily accented common, the man replies. "Ah, yes. I see. Yes.
"What can Τζέφρι do for you today?"

![]() |

The man looks at Kain like he is an idiot... or a foreigner, or both.
"How many boats. I got three I can rent out. 3 silver per boat per day, and I need 7 gold, 5 silver down per boat as a security deposit, each. That's the deal... you want it?""

![]() |

Kain counts out his coins, knowing full well that he is not getting a great deal... What amount of time would he have to argue though? The Elven Champion sighs and pays enough for one. "Very well. I'll take just the one."
Marking off 8g 5s. That should buy enough time to get out of here. Doubt I am going to be returning it lol

![]() |

Is Highwire going to lease a boat? Note, with only 2 of you, that's probably all that you could get through the sewers
Erryn does make Vurna much better... in fact, it seems that the scroll has cured her!
Craft checks for the boats? You have the chance to make 2 each.
Who is meeting with Garrla?

![]() |

Craft barrel 1 into a boat: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (19) + 4 = 23
Craft barrel 2 into another boat: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (12) + 4 = 16
No one is meeting Garrla. Not until the day we leave - as arranged.

![]() |

I assumed that maneuvering a boat through the sewers would be a 2-person job. If we can carry both of them, then sure, I'll rent one as well.

![]() |

Highwire also spends 8.5gp on a rowboat, and the two start trying to get them through the sewers.
I need acrobatics to squeeze, or athletics to shove checks, please
Fortiva manages to make one raft that she thinks will work, though the other doesn't seem like it will keep water out.
Botting the roll for Baz to get things moving.
Baz craft #1: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (18) + 9 = 27
Baz craft #2: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (10) + 9 = 19
Baz is able to also make one raft that seems like it will work. His second one seems close, but does appear to have a leak.
So, 2 rafts and 2 rowboats. You should be fine to move 4+4+3+3 people, with the stone giant being the equivalent of 2 people.
Tanaka spends the time penning some forgeries. Erryn checks them, and it is clear that one of the two he makes is pretty bad. Who are they for?
When Highwire and Kain get back, they have a chance to make one check of their choice... forgery or crafting

![]() |
1 person marked this as a favorite. |

4/4/3/3 looks like it will cover us and the five people we are allowed to ship out by the cove tomorrow. Woot!
Fortiva is accustomed to manual labor, but this is still a new experience for her. She is quite pleased with the first barrel she converts, but destroys the second one thoroughly in a fit of pique - though it didn't need much help, really.

![]() |

Highwire acrobatics: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (20) + 7 = 27
Kain athletics: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (9) + 7 = 16
Kain and Highwire are able to get the boats through the sewers safely. There are some tight spots, but they get them through without damage.
Kain makes some papers that he thinks will pass muster, as does Highwire.
The next morning, the team wakes up, and prepares to meet the Rolanna’s Prayer.
Who is going? How many of the boats/rafts are you bringing?
