The days aboard the Jenivere have been long especially for the last week or so as captain Alizandru Kovack has seemed very...distracted. It all started when you took on a new passenger, one Ieana. All of you have taken notice that the captain doesn't even come out to take readings on their position, he just stays in his cabin all the time. All of the work on board has been left to first mate Alton Devers.

After another very long day on board the ships dinner bell finally rings. Despite having restocked at the last port the ships cook has been very mundane in his meal selections of late so you aren't really looking forward to the meal, you're all just desperate for a break from working or a chance to socialize.

Everyone makes their way to the mess hall and lines up in the typical line for dinner. This time Captain Kovack couldn't even bother to come to dinner as you don't see him at the head of the line. A very exhausted Alton is there, wobbling to and fro on his feet. You can't tell if he's just trying to roll with the ship or if he's so exhausted he might fall over. Tonight's dinner consists of fish stew, a stale dinner roll, and your choice of grog, ale, or water.

You all make your way through the serving line and out to the galley where you can finally sit down and socialize among yourselves. Here in the galley the crew and the travelers mingle, class and rank forgotten.

Amboy:

You were discovered by a member of the crew but you were able to befriend them and they decided to let you stay and not turn you in. Tonight she brings you your dinner of fish stew and a cup of ale. She lets you know that she had to pay extra for the ale but she did it out of the kindness of your heart, seeing that you seem to be down on your luck right now. She stays and has dinner with you in the old and then asks if you want to come play cards or dice in her cabin.

Did only one member of the crew find me or do they all know I am hiding down here. What is the name of the girl that is bringing me food and inviting me to her cabin.

Even having grown up in Roderic's Grove and travelling the river by small boat, Nalesa still preferred the feel of solid ground beneath her feet and not the rolling motion of a larger ship on the open sea. Even as the days passed and the work kept her occupied, she longed for the end of the journey and getting off the Jenivere.

Holding the tin plate of food and a cup of water, Nalesa made her way to a table in the galley and sat down in one of the spare chairs. Nalesa lifted the meagre, dry bread roll and dipped it a little into the cup of water to soften it before taking a small mouthful of the fish stew and wet bread. Food was food, and, she understood well enough that when travelling over long distances one could not be overly fussy when it came to what there was to eat. We need to keep our strength up. Nourishment of some kind is better than nothing at all.

For a short time, she simply ate and drank in silence; content enough to listen to the ebb and flow of conversation around her. Nalesa glanced at the First Mate, Alton Devers, and felt compassion for his position and predicament. She wondered why the Captain remained in his cabin - was he sick or was there something they were being kept from knowing. If one of the sailors or travellers casually looked her way, Nalesa merely smiled and inclined her head. She did not mind happily talking to people and getting to know them; yet she never forced her company or conversation on others. As she ate her portion of food, Nalesa glanced around the galley; discreetly studying people and listening out for any interesting conversation.

Sizara was starving both for food and company. She greeted everyone, hoping to strike up a conversation with anyone who wanted to as she gathered her food. It wasn't the best food in the world (her elven rations tasted a whole lot better), but still learning more about others, including what they ate, was part of the thrill of adventure and seeing the world, but she also was on guard too. She found it strange that the captain had constantly been absent, leaving much of the ship's duties to the first mate.

"Something is off about this. My gut says that danger is near," she thought to herself. She said a silent prayer to Shimye-Magalla, Shelyn, Ketephys, and the spirit of the cheetah to watch over as she looked around to find someone to talk to, while also picking up anything the crew and other passengers were saying.

St. John waits in line and says "Thank you!" as he is given his food. He looks around and sees the First Mate. He heads toward him and sits with him. "I see the Captain isn't here. Is he ok? Is there anything we need to know about what is going on here?"

The first mate kind of startles as St. John joins him at the table. He wasn't expecting company tonight, not that he would complain. He tries to put on his best reassuring face. "No worries, the captain is just...distracted with other things right now. I've been doing everything I can to pick up the slack while he is otherwise occupied but to be honest, it is wearing me thin. I assure you the captain is fine and so are we..." his words trail off and he seems to be doing some calculations in his head.

Sizara and Nalesa you both overhear some crew members talking amongst themselves about how they feel the captain is having an affair with one of the passengers and that's why he hasn't been showing up for his shifts, they've been too busy rutting like half-orcs. One of the half-orc crew members hears this and takes offense to it and a small fight breaks out but it is quickly settled.

Amboy:

You are pretty sure its only been one crew member that has discovered you. Her name is Gelinda and she is a half elf.

Kenderella is a small, but extremly cute and well developed gnome with nicely curved hips and breasts quite large compared to her size. She has rainbow colored hair and a slight tan, making her look truly exotic. She's covered in light gauzy white clothing with her head bare. At her side is a black panther. She's refusing to let Enzi, the pather, leave her side. She doesn't feel safe without him.

Still slightly aching from the trip to the shackles, the little gnome is nonetheless cheery and exuberant as she's glad to be heading out on adventure into the jungle. Instead of quietly listening, she's asking around what's going on at the ship while consuming her food.. "I really just want to know more of what's going on and who everyone are. What is the captain up to? Who is this woman?"

St. John smiles knowing at the First Mate, "I see. Does the Captain normally neglect his duties when he makes a new friend or is the new lady really worth losing one's boat over? Not that I'm doubting your abilities to run the ship but if the Captain isn't the owner of the boat he may lose his job. If there is anything I can do to help, let me know."

GM Mathpro:

Amboy quickly takes the food and ale. "Thank you Gelinda, I promise I will pay you back for everything you have done for me."
He slowly eats his dinner as she tells him about what is going on with the crew and passangers. The fact that the captain is shacked up with one of the passagers does not seem right but he has no idea what life on the sea is like. Maybe this is normal.

When she invites him to her cabin he eagerly accepts. "Sure, let's go. Anything to relieve the bordom of waiting down here." He quickly stows his backpack and follows her.

Sizara listened to the sailors talk about how the captain might be sleeping with one of the passengers. It did bring back memories of her half-green dragon lover, but while she did hold a torch for him, she figured their paths might one day cross.

She started to pay attention to the crew than she did her food.

Sense Motive on First Mate, to determine if he is telling the truth as to all being fine and well or if he's hiding something: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6 (Sigh.)

The Captain was forsaking his duties for an ongoing tryst with the new passenger, Leana? Who was she and was she so important it was worth Captain Alizandru Kovack risking his position and the lives of the people aboard his ship? The colourful female gnome had inquired quite vocally on the matter and Nalesa overhead the First Mate and another passenger talking about the same thing. Nalesa dipped her bread into the fish stew and popped it into her mouth; taking a long sip of water to wash it down.

Wiping her mouth with an old kerchief she kept tucked inside her sleeve, Nalesa finally found some courage and addressed the First Mate as politely as she knew how,

"Mister Devers, is there no way to reach the Captain's ear in this matter? You have been doing a valiant job, stepping up and working hard. In your honest opinion, how long can you and the crew last with the absence of the Captain? Has anyone checked on him, gone in his cabin, to determine if all is indeed well? Should we be concerned?"
