About Amboy Yacolt

How Amboy got aboard the Jenivere:
As Amboy sat slowly working the bilge pump back and forth he thought "I hate cats".

A few weeks ago back in Corentyn it was supposed to be an easy job. Enter the third floor window, move across the room, and take the jewelry box. It does not get easier than that. He had been watching the bedroom for several night now from the rooftop across the way. He knew that Lady Malcolm was a sound sleeper since he could hear her snoring from his vantage point.

The Lady's guards patrolling the perimeter of house always slowed down as the night wore on and he knew that would give him plenty of time to scale the wall, grab the box while the guard walked by, and then get back out.

The plan had worked perfectly until he had stepped on the cat's tail. The cat screamed and clawed at his leg. He had screamed from the pain. Lady Malcolm screamed. Guards burst into the room as he headed out the window. He fell into the bushes below.

Now the chase was on. Slowed by his injured ankle he barely stayed ahead of the guard. He tried every trick he knew to get away but it seemed that they were always right behind him. Then the city watch joined in the pursuit. Every turn he made seemed to lead right into a group of them.

He found himself at the docks and in a last desperate chance to escape he dove in the water. He swam for a long time and finally climbed aboard a ship. Exhausted, he crawled under the tarp on a lifeboat and fell asleep.

He woke later that day to the sounds of the sea and found that the ship had sailed. The crew found him after a couple days while he tried to sneak out and find food and water.
"We found a stowaway, Captain. Should we toss him overboard?" The captain looked over Amboy and said, "Welcome aboard the Jenivere boy. I don't take kindly to passengers who come aboard uninvited. Especially those that cannot pay for passage. "

"I have funds sir, but I would like to just return to Corentyn" He produces the jewelry box and hands it to the captain. Captain Kovack takes the box and looks through the contents. "We will not be returning to Corentyn for few months but the contents of this box will buy you a place on my crew until we get back there. Do as you are told until then and you just might live to see your home again.

Amboy sighed. What else could he do but accept?

Background:
Amboy grew up in Corentyn. His family had a small shop where his father was a well respected cobbler. He was a good student and very respectful to others. He did his chores and help his father in the shop . He learned the craft quickly but he always felt that there had to be more to life than this.

As a youth he was always looking for something exciting to do. He climbed trees and walls to see how high he could get. Walked though dark alleys and sewers to see what was hidden down them. He snuck into taverns to listen to the tales that the men told. He raced across rooftops and peeked into window. Going into places he was not supposed to be provided him with the thrill that he craved.
The natural next step was to take something that would prove that he has been there. Something small, something personal. His skills grew along with his cache of pilfered item. He had to increase the difficulty each time to get the same thrill and was getting very good at it until he was finally caught.

It was not the homeowner or the authorities that caught him but a thief. Madof had been watching Amboy for several months now after running across on a job he was doing and had been impressed by the boys raw talent. He explained that with some proper training Amboy could make a living as a burglar. Of course the training had a cost. He would be given jobs to do and a percentage of the loot would have to be turned over. Of course he could decline the training but the authorities would learn about his activities. Madof could not afford to have competition. Welcome to the Thieves Guild Amboy.

Description:
Amboy is tall and lean with dark hair and a dark complexion. When someone watches him they notice that his eyes are always moving as if looking for something. He is polite and courteous to everyone he engages with. His clothing and gear are all clean and well maintained.
