Hello everyone,
Numbat asked me to introduce myself, I am new to PFS play and she heard I was looking for a "tutorial campaign" for handling all of the PFS details and graciously invited me to join. I hope you all don't mind an extra.
A bit of background about my gaming experience:
I have been DMing almost continually for 30 years and have done PbP/PbE on and off for about 15 years. I've run games in probably 12-13 different game systems over the years including AD&D 1, 2, 3, 3.5, and PF1e. I have read through PF2e but have not played in it.
I'll run a character of whatever is needed to round things out.
| GreatGraySkwid |
It looks like we'll have two tables of 5 and 6, at this point, so I doubt there's a whole lot of edges that need rounding, particularly with how flexible PF2 characters are. That means you should play whatever you like, Tiessa!
Edit: Actually, you haven't dotted in, yet, so that makes 12...are we doing two 6s or 3 4s?!

Hi Tiessa,
Like GreatGraySkwid said, play whatever you'd like to try out!
However, if it helps, here is list of the current roster of class so far (these will be split up into different tables so there isn't a guarantee that you will play with any of them)
- Saturday: Human Liberator-Champion
- Razpen: Elven Wizard
- Dorian 'The Hammer' Gravendak: Dwarven Fighter
- Redd Appleblossom: Halfling Scoundrel Rogue
- Lusinel: Elven Thief Rogue
- Sara Bright: Goblin Angelic Sorcerer
- Alaize Crimbraze: Half-Elf (TBD)
- Filtune Gracefoot: Halfling Cleric
- Old Dog Ravant: Elf Fighter
- Jayson Ghita: (TBD)
- Tihun: Half-Elf Bard
Hopefully I didn't miss anyone.

(This is Tiessa - I'll use this alias for the character.)
I was thinking of a Half-Elf Redeemer Champion of Shelyn using a glaive (flail and shield as backup) - I haven't played a melee type in a long while and the idea of non-LG paladins has been a long time coming.

Let's talk about Organized Play. Earlier today I described it like this...
Paizo Organized Play runs a campaign worldwide where everyone plays by the same rules, they play the same short adventures, the results are tallied and affect the ongoing game. You start at level 1 and your characters progress and level up based on their play. Generally, three scenarios (approximately 4 hours of play) provides sufficient experience to level up. Treasure found during a scenario is usable during that adventure but then turned in to the Society who reward you with gold and provide you with the ability to buy back items you may not otherwise have access to. You can take your characters to any Society game relevant to their level. Games usually have a level range such as (1-4) and within that sub-tiers. Which sub-tier is played is determined by the level of characters at the table. So you may play up (3-4) or down (1-2) in the above example and that would determine the challenge level of the adventure, what DCs are used, who you face, etc. Characters can be played anywhere in the world at any appropriate PFS table be it in person or online.
As I am being lazy, I am going with that off the cuff description even though it is oversimplified. It provides a general idea and we can cover specifics later.
It can be a little confusing at first to distinguish between Paizo, the publisher, and the Organized Play Foundation, home of our Society play.
For now, let's start with the Pathfinder Society Guide to Play which for Second Edition (PFS2) can be found on OrganizedPlayFoundation.org. The specific link is here
Your homework is to start reading through the guide, at least the player information.

As you move on in completing your character profile and posting in games (or even in the forums) it becomes more important to learn how to format your text.
Slide 13 covers where to find information on formatting.
Feel free to make some test posts to try it out. We will discuss common formatting practices in a bit.

Next, we move on to headers and avatars. As you are fleshing out your characters, you can start to enter critical information into your character profile.
Slide 14 covers headers.
Slide 15 covers avatars.
And finally for tonight, please, if you notice any typos or errors on the slides, do let me know. I would like to correct at least the master set that I will be making available for others and likely will reuse myself.

Welcome Tiessa :D
Like @Jib961 I would like a copy and paste for the header.
And btw, I plan to play a sorcerer.
Alaize Crimbraze

I also made a header but I think I must shorten it since there's no space left to 2nd level spell slots and so on x.x

I would like to first thank you for your hard work on putting this all together in advance.
And second you wrote that the results are tallied and affect the ongoing game.
It sound like the old RPGA back with the Living Grayhawk days. But they had the "Core" game and "Regional"game. So I had Characters that I only played in the Core adventures or the Regional ones, so those characters would only fallow the story line that was going on.
Is there a way to tell the difference between the adventures that are apart of the main story or ones that are like "side line" adventures?

There really isn't a main story in 2e yet. They're all somewhat tied together in a "season", in this case "Year of the Open Road". They don't need to be played in any order. Later on, though, there might be 2 or 3 scenarios linked together and called an "arc". These will usually tell you that "these scenarios are intended to be played in order".

It sounds like TORG's Infiniverse idea (from Wikipedia):
"At the time of its release Torg's 'Infiniverse' campaign was an ambitious attempt at creating an interactive campaign setting. Subscribers to West End's Infiniverse magazine received response forms, through which they could inform WEG of the progress of their campaigns. Player input actually influenced the campaign setting through a 'rumor' system ('rumors' were introduced in Infiniverse magazines and published adventures, and the majority of responses would determine whether that rumor was 'true' or not)."It was an attempt to do a campaign system that would affect the entire course of the Possibility Wars - which it did to some extents or another.

The full online profile template can be found here.
I wasn't sure about providing it all at once in case it overwhelmed. Plus I want to discuss some sections. It is good to have though. Add it to your Google Drive or bookmark it or something.
To be clear, this is not an official template. In fact, we are still working out what is the best practices for PFS2. Also, some GMs may make specific requests. Please honour those if you can.

For Organized Play adventures there are often reporting conditions. The GM reports certain outcomes. Those may affect later adventures and sometimes even the overall campaign.
For example, in Starfinder Society, races that first appeared in SFS and became very popular have now appeared in the primary published game. When the SFS treated well with a particular alien they came across, instead of killing it, the Org Play team opened up that race as always available to play. (They also wrote a really nice blog on why. I don't have time to track it down but I will try to remember to do so later.)
As roll4initiative indicated, almost every scenario or quest is written as a stand-alone adventure though some will be multi-part (and clearly identified as such).
Other than gold and access to items, the chronicle sheet you receive at the end of an adventure may also provide a boon. Some of those boons have a direct effect in later adventures.
Adventures also receive tags which provide you with some basic information before you play. The Repeatable tag, for instance, indicates you can play and GM that adventure for credit multiple times, although still only once per character. There is a Metaplot tag on both scenarios in the two-parter due for release later this month.

Later on, though, there might be 2 or 3 scenarios linked together and called an "arc". These will usually tell you that "these scenarios are intended to be played in order".
There are scenarios that are shallowly linked by metaplot, e.g. some scenarios involving the ongoing story of the Firebrands organization, and some deal with the stories of the founding personages of the Pathfinder Society. It's fun to recognize these threads, if you're that sort of nerd (I am).
For more concrete linkages, multiparts such as #1-16 The Perennial Crown Part 1 and and #1-17 The Perennial Crown Part 2 (both to be released next month) are, obviously, meant to go together as Numbat mentioned. Even so, nothing actually prevents you from playing things out of order, or playing different parts with different characters if the fancy strikes you. (Also, it's quite possible that for scheduling reasons you play the first part and not the second, or vice versa, due to life getting in the way. This is more likely in face-to-face play than PbP though.)

Going to do a quick ability score setup for those unfamiliar with the system (such as myself :3)
Step 0: You start with 10's in everything, so:
Strength 10 Dexterity 10 Constitution Intelligence 10 Wisdom 10 Charisma 10
Step 1 Ancestry*: since Saturday is human I get two +2s to put in any stat, they have to be a separate ability though so I'm going Strength and Constitution.
S 12 D 10 C 12 I 10 W 10 C 10
* You can also take a Drawback (I believe this is allowed for PFS), which I am not doing for this character. You take a -2 to two different stats (or -4 to a stat you have a racial boost in, such as a Dwarf's Constition or Wisdom). You then get a free +2 that you can add to any ability that currently does mot have a boost.
Step 2 Background: I chose the Cursed Family Background so I get the choice between Charisma and Intelligence as well as one free boost to any other stat.
I'm picking Charisma (maybe I'll get some use out of it as a Champion :3) and Strength for my free boost
S 14 D 10 C 12 I 10 W 10 C 12
Step 3 Class: Since I'm playing a Champion I get either a boost to my Strength or Dexterity (no free boost on step 3). To the surprise of few, I'm picking Strength again.
S 16 D 10 C 12 I 10 W 10 C 12
Step 4: At this step you get four free +2s to put on any of your scores as long as they're 16 or lower (Can't have over 18 in a stat at character creation) and you can't stack them either, have to be four different abilities. Went Strength, Dexterity, Constitution, and Wisdom.
S 18 D 12 C 14 I 10 W 12 C 12
Only my second P2 character so no idea if those are okay for a Champion or if I'm going to die rather quickly XD

By the way, what page are we supposed to enter the "Header" information into? I can't enter it yet, since I need to come up with a different background, but just to know. I didn't see anywhere in the slide where it said.

That's annoying - I use an external text editor, Emacs, and store the file on my drive so I can edit it at leisure and copy and paste in.
I hate the timeout thing.

Well, visually, if the app icon for Edge is a swirly blue and green thing then it's Edge Chromium. If it's just a plain blue 'e', then it's the old incarnation of Edge.
Also if you're on Edge Chromium, the version details can be found in [...] > Settings > Help and Feedback > About Microsoft Edge. It will say it's based on Chromium here.
If you're still on the old Edge and you'd like to upgrade, the new one can be downloaded from Microsoft here: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/edge/. You can have both Edges installed on the same computer.
Paizo Campaign Tools is in the Chrome web store here. It's nice to have, but not strictly needed for anything, so if you can't be bothered, you don't have to.
