So is the entire adventure path considered part of the convention?
No - just the scenarios that take place while the convention is running.
I believe the last day is May 18th; I'm not sure if we need to have finished the scenario by then, or merely to have started it, for the next scenario to count.
I suppose it would be better if I actually rolled for an upgrade:
Item 2: 1d1000 ⇒ 895

Raheli - Chthonicthul |

Grats on the boon, BR!
Raheli Rewards: CCT-2A

Boon: 1d20 ⇒ 7
Deck Upgrade preferences
Item 2: 1d1000 ⇒ 696
No upgrade if she loses the rolls.
Three Item-centric characters... this could end up difficult. It was fine in the first adventure because Quinn didn't really need anything, but that's not going to be the case anymore. Maybe I drop playing Raheli, and bring in another character? I can't imagine we are going to be acquiring Items to the level we'd want.
Or, maybe, this is fine and we make it work. Thoughts?

Brielle - Shnik |

Brielle wants items, and she wants other upgrades too. Not much worse than any other character I've played. I don't mind having three characters who might want items a bit more than usual, we can make it work, possibly expending a bit more resources to acquire them and using Amin, etc.

JohnF-1017 Quinn |

Quinn has replaced his Compass with a Gem of Mental Acuity.
Other than that, and the change of harrow, his deck will be the same as last time; he'll still swap out his Thieves' Tools for Zellara's Harrow Deck.

![]() |

Let's try that again; my post window just vanished!
Counting Quinn's current turn we've got ten turns left, five open locations, and five players. There are six cards at the location known to hold the villain, and thirty cards spread out over the other four locations.
Our only realistic chance at victory is to get the villain to the top card in her location, then spread out to guard the other locations. The one thing that is in our favour is that we can auto-evade the villain if we find her before we're ready.
I suggest that for the next round we use as many explorations as we can to try and position the villain; I don't see any way of earning enough closing checks for explorations elsewhere to be worth it.
Assuming the update post is correct, the villain's location contains one monster, four boons, and the villain. There's a reasonable chance that we can get her into position in the next five turns by exploring as much as possible. Even if we don't totally succeed, we should be able to whittle the location down to a size that can be dealt with in a single turn.
On Quinn's next turn (or earlier, if we get enough cards out of the villain's location) we start moving into position to guard the other locations (and do whatever we can to draw useful boons into our hands).
So, basically: everybody, on their turn, heads over to the Alley and explores as many times as they can, evading the villain if they find her.
Does this sound reasonable?
I've got more thoughts for what to do once we position the villain, but I'll save those for a later post

JohnF-1017 Quinn |

discussion, continued
Quinn has now determined that the top four cards of the Alley were all boons; one of them (an Ally 2) is now the top card, and the other three are banished.
That means that the remaining two cards are the villain and a monster in some order.
Quinn also found out that the top card at the Den of Iniquity is also an Ally 2.
How can we win from here?
We're going to need to spread out, of course. But we also need to get that Ally 2 off the top of the Alley.
Quinn can't do that - he only gets one more turn, and he'll have to use that to go to whatever location he'll be guarding. So somebody is going to have to come over to the Alley and deal with the Ally.
We also have to decide who will fight the villain. That person (and anyone whose turn comes between Quinn's turn and the designated villain fighter) could come to the Alley and clear off the Ally this round, then take up their final position on the final round.
The villain fight at the Alley will mean being prepared to fight an unknown monster before encountering the villain, and also being able to make the Wisdom/Perception/Stealth 5 check to prevent the villain evading.
Guarding two of the locations (the Graveyard and the Abandoned Shack) each require fighting a Zombie Minion - dual combats (9 then 13). Quinn isn't good at that, but he's also not very good at making the Dex/Stealth 5 check needed at the Chambers. He'd much prefer the Den of Iniquity - he can close that by burying a boon.
There's an Ally 2 on top of the Den of Iniquity. If we want to get that then (assuming he's going to guard that location) Quinn will get one chance on his next turn. But he's actually a good choice to try that - it's an Intelligence 8 check, and Quinn has a d10 + 2, plus an ally that he could discard for an extra d8. He could even bury Amin Jalento to add a d6.
And, finally - don't forget the other supporters!
Vencarlo Orisini will let us re-roll a check.
Trinia Sabor will add 1d4+1 to a non-combat check (useful to prevent the villain evading)

Brielle - Shnik |

Brielle can be on Graveyard duty. I could try to get the Ally at the Alley (1d12+1d10+4 while raging), but it might be better to explore my location a few times and possibly close it before the final turns (same thing for the Chambers; actually, with only 5 cards left, it could be good for a few of us to explore and close it, then jump to other locations from closing).

Raheli - Chthonicthul |

Raheli is best suited to the Chambers, I guess, although the only way she can get a second explore is by blowing the Blessing in her hand...

Outpost 3 is officially over, so this last scenario won't count towards it, and I'll be focused on PaizoCon the rest of the week, so we'll reconvene next week after you all settle on upgrades

Koren the Paladin |

Hurrah! Good job team. Enjoy PaizoCon everyone.
Koren wont get a Hero Point (replay)
Upgrade Preferences:
Weapon 2: 1d1000 ⇒ 61 Shock Glaive +1
Spell 1: 1d1000 ⇒ 353 Protect
Item 2: 1d1000 ⇒ 490 Mock Armor
Weapon 2 is the boon Koren wants the most out of those three. But if someone else wants it, he will cede it to take the Spell 1 or Item 2.
Koren cannot take the loot as he has no Ally slots (his teammates are his allies!)

Brielle - Shnik |

Spend Hero Point for a Card Feat... I guess Ally.
Upgrade preferences:
Item 2: 1d1000 ⇒ 108
Ally 2: 1d1000 ⇒ 320
Ally 1 otherwise
I'd really like to get a Topaz of Strength before the end of the adventure to help boost my lower stats.
Ausio would be nice for scenarios with lots of looting, but if someone else wants her that's fine with me.

![]() |

That was always going to be a tough scenario - the location closing rules are brutal.
There are only two 'normal' locations; one with a regular closing henchman, and one with a villain. All the other locations only have Plague Zombies.
Even though there's an extra Plague Zombie at every location, there's no guarantee that gives you another chance at a closing check. In fact my rough calculations suggest that you're going to need, on average, around ten explorations to earn yourself a closing check at one of those 11-card Plague Zombie locations!
Once we knew where the villain was (and had a reasonable plan to strip away the cards in the way) we didn't really have too many turns to spare. It might have been possible, as Brielle suggested, to dig down enough manage to close one or two of the locations, but that's not a risk-free strategy.
If we explored at any other location there's no guarantee that we'd get a closing chance, even if we did encounter a henchman. And even if we did get one there's a price to pay - the resources used in the henchman fight itself, plus any other side effects (such as the AYA damage from the Plague Zombies).
We know that in order to win we're going to have to close or guard all except the villain's location, and defeat the villain. That in itself describes a fairly expensive course of action. Adding other costs, such as fighting an extra henchman, or even taking extra explorations, could potentially burn up resources that we could put to use in the final fight. For example - If Raheli had not used her Blessing of the Gods on her turn, we could have used that to bless one or more of the checks in the guarding or the villain confrontation (there were at least a couple of checks that could have been blessed but were not, even though Quinn had blessings that could have been used).

Raheli - Chthonicthul |

Scenario CCT-2B - Raheli Rewards
Tier 2, XP: 2
Use Hero Point for Power Feat: On your check to defeat (☐ or your check to acquire an item or a spell), you may recharge any number of items to add 1d4 for each item recharged ([X] plus the items' highest adventure deck number) to your check.

Ally 2: 1d1000 ⇒ 544
Happy to cede the Item to Brielle.

Quinn decides that to compete for the Ally 2 (or possibly the Weapon 2?) would not be in the best interests of the party, so will sit out this round of upgrades.

Since Brielle was kindly handed an Item 2 last scenario (which came in really handy already, though only for bashing heads in), I'll take leftovers for this round. I'm guessing there will be a Weapon 0 after everyone else takes their picks, so that'll do.
