With us getting close to the end of the current mission, I'd like to know where the party would like to go next. Here are the currently avaialable missions (also noted on the slides):
If anyone picks Agillae-4, that's fine but also give me your second choice because Agillae-4's availability may be getting closed down very soon.
Thank you!

And in case you're curious, I've posted the link to the mission success progress chart in the campaign header!

I say we try for Agillae-4 to try to get that one done while we can. Completionism! :)

As mentioned in the gameplay thread, if there is no tie-breaker vote, then in a little while I'll do a random d2 roll for the next mission. A 1 for Bastiar and a 2 for Agillae.

Alrighty, Agillae-4 it is!! Kicking the mission off!!

Just a head's up. I made a slight mistake in Part 4. You actually have a choice of moving into one of three missions:
1. Clearing the landing site (mission that you are currently on)
2. Attacking perimeter structures
3. Descending into the pit
I was under the impression these have to be completed in order but I now realize they can be taken on in any order.
Once we're done with the current landing site mission (and I think you guys will finish this one up real soon), I'm going to roll you straight into the pit mission since that is where you'll get to see a bit more story progression. I'll also mention it in the gameplay thread when the time comes - you'll get a 10 minute rest between the current mission and descending into the pit.
Because the special is scheduled to finish on May 16, we may not have a chance to get to mission #2, attacking the perimeter. But in my opinion, fighting the walker in the current mission is more interesting anyways!! I mean, the walker literally stepped on you guys, then later itself got wrecked due to the damage it sustained stomping on Bruf! You guys are like splinters on the ground, or a pebbles in a shoe, or a spiky little bug on the ground...

Cool, sounds good to me.
I have to admit it was pretty satisfying taking multiple stomps and remaining standing, while it took itself down.

Oops, sorry about then entangle! I saw it, but completely forgot as I typed up my post.
Hmm, I guess I made the mistake again of assuming that SF was more like 1st edition PF than it may actually be. I've always just interpreted the 2nd level version of the Flight spell as functionally identical to the Levitate spell from PF. I see now that they left out the last half of a key sentence from Levitate: "You cannot move the recipient horizontally, but the recipient could clamber along the face of a cliff, for example, or push against a ceiling to move laterally (generally at half its base land speed)."I am honestly a little baffled as to why they would leave that half of the sentence out. If they really do intend that 2nd level Flight somehow prevents lateral movement, it makes the spell incredibly limited in usefulness, and opens up weird defensive uses of hovering an inch off of the ground and then saying you are immune to bullrushes!
Personally I was thinking of it in terms of the spell effectively making them weightless and having them move like the zero gravity rules. So I was assuming that once the casters ascend up high enough to reach the top, that it would be a simple matter of reaching out with a toe and pulling their body forward with a step and walking. Apart from the 5' square mechanics of combat, is there any reason they can't be just an inch away from the wall as they ascend, so they can easily grab hold with hands or feet once at the top? You seem to agree with that, it was just a matter of whether that 5' step from midair onto the ledge was a full move action or could be part of a full stride. Given our time constraints it is probably not worth arguing over a few squares of movement. Sorry for the distraction! Let's kill these things and move on :)
Moving this here just for the sake of discussion.
There aren't any hard and fast rules here so happy to chat hypothetically...
I don't think the flight spell prevents the target from being moved laterally. However the flight spell itself cannot move the target laterally. So other forces someone pulling/pushing the target or the target pushing off of something or grabbing something and pulling themself will work.
Can they float up inches away from a wall? I'd say yes if the wall is sheer all the way up without jagged edges that hinder upward movement. A cliff face probably wouldn't work because it'd be uneven. In our case, I'd say those mesas are pretty sheer so I think it's fine.
Can they reach out with a toe and pull their body forward with a step? Probably not because the act of stepping requires the target to push off a back foot against something to move their body forward, not putting out a forward foot and pulling the body forward. In this case, the target has nothing to push off of as they're in midair. They'd effectively have to reach out with their toe/foot to 'grab' the ground and use that toe/foot grab to pull themselves to the ground. Short of a sticky shoe or going barefoot and having strong, fingerlike toes, I don't believe this would work.
However, I'd say that the target can levitate up so that the mesa floor is chest level, then they can reach out with hands and arms to try and grab something to pull themselves laterally onto the mesa floor and stand up while discontinuing the levitate once their body is above the mesa floor rather than above thin air. No specific rule here that I've seen but I figure this would take an entire move action.
Perhaps if there were features on the mesa readily available to serve as handholds, then I can see how this action would become nearly as trivial as walking normally on ground - in which case the target can use 5' of movement to pull themselves to the ground and continue walking the rest of their movement speed.
On a different note, depending upon the strategy, this encounter definitely uses up quite a few actions to coordinate the defeat of the oozes. Being a 4 player party is a clear disadvantage but I think this party definitely has the ability to pull it off!
And on yet another note...

Armor does come standard with boot clamps. I don't know if they're wearing armor or not though.
GM bigboom
Oh interesting! Boot clamps! Used primarily to anchor oneself in place while in zero-g. Yep, I'd say that a target can levitate up, reach out with their boot to the mesa ground, activate a clamp, use their foot/leg to pull their body laterally until above the mesa ground, stop levitating and disengage the boot clamp. That makes sense.
Not sure if this would take a whole move action... If someone wants to do this, I'd say a DC14 Athletics check to see if they accomplish this gracefully enough to continue their movement seems reasonable. Otherwise their move action completes with them standing on the mesa ground. In addition, a standard action would still be available.

Apologies. Work emergency has come up. I'm delayed in posting to gameplay. Will do so asap later today.

Everyone, please roll a 1d20 for your boon roll! A 19 or a 20 wins a boon!
Boon roll: 1d20 ⇒ 11
Again, I'm sorry we weren't able to fully close out this last encounter. You guys are a tough, tenacious group and getting through a special with just 4 players is awesome! It was a pleasure being your GM and I hope you all had a good time!

I had a fantastic time. Thanks for running this fun and challenging scenario!

Yeah, this was one of the best games I've been in on here. Thanks for running and thanks for playing alongside Sarangari folks. I'm sure I'll be seeing you guys around.

Alrighty everyone! Chronicles are here: LINK
As you'll see on the Chronicle, if your character advanced to level 2 via the use of the Scoured Stars Veteran boon, then instead of earning 4 additional fame, your character is eligible to gain additional XP.
If any of your characters did in fact advance to level 2 via that boon and you want to obtain the XP boost, let me know!
And if anyone has any corrections or needs any other comments/notations in your sheet, do let me know!

Selene's sister, Katrina (703), did gain the Scoured Stars Veteran boon . Selene was rescued by Katrina so that boon was used to start Selene at 2nd.
So could you boost Selene's xp please.
Does this also mean that for the next two chronicles she gets, she gets 2xp?
GM bigboom
Alrighty! I'll work through your chronicle Selene applying that extra XP. No, it doesn't mean more xp in fugure chronicles. It means this current chronicle gets bigger numbers! Give me a bit...been a long day and this involves extra math. ;-P
GM bigboom
@everyone By the way, it is in your chronicles but I forgot to mention it. Everyone gets an extra +1 Second Seeker Luwazi Rep point AND an extra +1 Second Seeker Jadnura Rep point for this scenario.
GM bigboom
Selene, your updated chronicle is up! Please take a look.
Or here's a direct link to your specific chronicle: Selene
I was able to determine your leveling progress due to the details on your character sheet and unless my math is wrong, you've hit level 7!! Congrats!!
Take a look and let me know if you have any questions or spot any errors.
--------------------------
Everyone else, please look over your chronicles and let me know if you need any adjustments. I'll look to report the table to the con organizers in about 8 hours from now.
Thank you everyone again for the game! Was a blast!!!

Thank you for running. And yes, 1xp from this would have got her to 6th and the extra three gets her to 7th.
Now I just have to make her a more competent Witchwarper :)

Like Selene, I started a new character at 2nd level (Beltalowda #236648-703) thanks to the Scoured Stars Survivor boon. To clarify, I played 1-99 with Bruf, he has the actual chronicle. So does that mean Bruf gets extra XP or Beltalowda does? The boon on 2-00 seems to indicate that Beltalowda would get the XP but only if I'd played this scenario with him. I am happy to be wrong though, as getting extra XP for Bruf would be great.
Either way, hopefully I am catching you in time. My basement flooded last night, so I have been dealing with the fall out all day.

Beltalowda would have to play this 2-00 scenario to get the extra XP. I suggest replaying this when Beltalowda is either level 1-4 or 9-12 for a different BBEG battle.
Hope the flooded basement is more or less resolved. Floods are the worst!!
Twich, no worries. Get better soon and hope to see you more active around the boards as soon as you're able!

Ahh ok that makes sense. Thanks for clarifying and for the tip. I’ll definitely play this one again if I get the chance.
