Bahram al-Urgug "Jack" |
Imagining the chains whipping down to entangle each of them, Bahram enters cautiously, looking to see how these things attack. Whispering a couple of words, Bahram casts detect magic and looks carefully at the mechanisms

"Trap upon trap"
GM Tyranius |
You receive no response from Nuar and notice no immediate traps.
The desiccated elf’s head lolls to the side again and his eyes flutter open. He stiffens and tugs at his tethers, screaming with rage. “You! You ungrateful, short-lived insects! I was betrayed and dragged on this altar of pride! Mortality is all you crawling beasts deserve!”
The elf is tied permanently to this chamber and dangles 20 feet above its center by 12 massive bronze chains on the catwalks above. Each of the catwalks can be reached by a ladder against the wall.

Kiyoko Tamahi |
Also unsure how the (un?)dead elf will attack, Kiyoko races for a ladder. When she arrives, she swiftly ascends. Double move.
Grax, Son of Dray |
Grax pulls out a vial and drinks it. His muscles suddenly bulge and settle in more sharply defined. A dullness comes to his eyes, but he races for one of the other ladders, his greatsword at the ready. "Something tells me we should destroy that!"
Drink Strength Mutagen. +4 Str, +2 AC, -2 Int. Grax's AC is now 23.

Starting Weapon Song (+1 enhancement bonus, Superstition) and moving.
Bahram al-Urgug "Jack" |
Bahram will walk in, and seeing this creature suspended up in the air, he will draw his bow. "Who are you? What is your purpose here? We only want the minotaur and to leave you in peace!"

Bahram attempts to calm the elf. "I am Abysiel Greensummer. My purpose..." The elf looks confused and angry. "My purpose was to try and save them." He sneers as Bahram's questions fall on deaf ears as he seems beyond reasoning and rationale.
Jahz begins causing everyone's weapons to glow. Looking over Abysiel Jahz comes to teh conclusion that he is indeed an elf. Elf sorcerer to be exact, not really a whole lot to give on that.
Conig's disc springs in front of him for protection. Grax drinks a mutagen as his muscles hit that pre-workout period.

GM Tyranius |
Despite his bound and chained condition, he has the freedom to work the spidery words and finger motions of arcane magic. He weaves them into a fell dweomer while speaking with a strangely calm tone to Kiyoko and Conig "There's no need for violence. Lay down your weapons and come to me... Come to me..."

Sensing that time is of the essence to break up that spell, Bahram takes a fortune favored shot at the elf after trying to discern his intentions.

GM Tyranius |
Bahram recognizes the spell as a Hypnotism spell. One meant to placate and cause you to be quite subservient.
Kiyoko Tamahi |
"No problem," Kiyoko grunts, dashing nimbly across the catwalk toward the elf. As she nears, Reitenseiya slides free of its saya as Kiyoko slashes at the elf.
Reitenseiya, weaponsong: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (14) + 7 = 21
1d8 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 = 7
Conig |
Let's try to slow it down then. Conig lowers the lip of the disk to slide forward a few feet as he stands tall and takes aim with his pistol. The sigils on the gun flare and animate as a burst of light leaves the barrel.
Swift to sacrifice Jury-Rig lvl 1 to add a +1 enhancement bonus per Mage Bullets. That's a base +1, +1 from Mage Bullets, and a +1 from Weapon song. I'll use the enhancement bonus to add 3 to the DC of Color Spray with the Arcane Gun ability. DC 18 will.
For Arcane Gun and Spell Bullets
For Color Spray
Also, I have the Shape Mastery ability per Occultist that allows me to exclude my Int modifier of allies from area spells.
Jahz the Wanderer |
”Oh, he’s casting a spell!” Jahz answers cheerfully. ”Though I wonder what kind? From the verbiage he’s using, it would make sense to be an enchantment of some kind...“ Lost in thought, the half-orc wanders closer.
Double move. If someone within 30 ft fails a saving throw, he’ll use saving finale to give them a reroll. And don’t forget about Superstition!
Old Man Kossar |
Hearing that a spell is about to happen Kossar dashes in and hopes a fist to the face will be an ample distraction.
Attack: 1d20 + 7 + 1 ⇒ (10) + 7 + 1 = 181d6 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 2 + 1 = 8
GM Tyranius |
Kossar- Abysiel is in the air on a platform 20 feet up. Plus it would take a little over a double move to reach the center of the room. Double moved you towards the closest ladder.
@Kiyoko- That would be a double move as well as you will need to climb the ladder 20 feet up and then move across the platform to reach Abysiel.
@Conig- Keep in mind he is 20 feet up and Color Spray is only 15 foot burst. DId you wish to switch actions?
Bahram's arrow bounces off of one of the chains as it sways the elf in the air. Old Man Kossar dashes into the room but is too far away to strike out with his fists. Kiyoko quickly climbs the ladder, moving to close the distance on Abysiel before the spell goes off.
Jahz watches for the spell to complete, trying to time himself just right. Grax hurries up the ladder as fast as he can.

The Minkan samurai staggers under the disorienting magic, then shakes her head to clear it. Seeing Abysiel casting a spell anew, Kiyoko seizes the opportunity to slash the elf again.
AoO: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (9) + 7 = 16
1d8 + 4 ⇒ (8) + 4 = 12
From there, the elf uses the momentum to reverse Reitenseiya and slash at the elf again, then kicks the sorcerer with her geta-clad feet for good measure.

Grax, Son of Dray |
Grax hurries along the catwalk, trying not to look down. He crosses over and watches the samurai slash at the elf. It strikes him as a very different fighting style than he was about to employ.
Conig |
Conig ejects the normal firearm bullet and packs an alchemical paper charge in the chamber. He levels his magical pistol again a the elf and fires another shot.

Bahram al-Urgug "Jack" |
Not having very much faith in hitting him with an arrow in all the commotion, but knowing that it would take forever to climb up and shoulder his way through the crowd to take a swing, Bahram fires!
free action to continue luck, Swift action to enact arcane strike, 30' toward the minotaur

Jahz the Wanderer |
Will, Superstition vs DC 14: 1d20 + 4 + 2 ⇒ (12) + 4 + 2 = 18
Jahz likewise shakes off the fascination. ”That’s the spirit - keep on keeping on!” he cheers as he looks for the closest ladder. Deciding on the northern one, he marches over and begins climbing the rungs.
Maintaining weapon song, double move. With only a 20 ft movement speed, that’s likely to only get him halfway up the ladder.
Old Man Kossar |
Kossar dashes to a ladder and attempts to get to the elf.
I'm totally confused by the layout. Can you double move me so that I can eventually punch the elf.
GM Tyranius |
While chains, magic, and luck conspire against the majority of you Kiyoko shakes off the spell and stabs Abysiel through the ribs. Bahram's arrow slams into the elf's chest and he falls faint, hanging loosely from the chains once more, ending his twisted rage.
With the elf forever silenced Javon swats his wings against the minotaur's face. This seems to slightly awaken the injured Nuar "What.... where? Where am I?"
Conig |
Conig harumphs at the missed shot and squandering of magic resource. He reloads his pistol with a firearm bullet. He holsters his pistol and draws it quick just to make sure. He stows it again and floats over to the commotion.
You are in Delirium's Tangle. Grandmaster Torch sent us to assist you. What do your remember? How did you arrive and navigate the maze?
Grax, Son of Dray |
Grax strikes the dead elf in fury, cleaving right through his body. He pants, realizing that the sorcerer was already dead. "Ok, he's gone...good work, everyone."
The half-orc climbs back down the ladder to join Javon.
Javon |
"Oh, you're alright Prince Naur! Thanks heavens! Allow me to introduce myself, since my bodyguard is busy at the moment. I am Javon, an esteemed Pathfinder! I am thrilled to meet you! What wondrous secrets you'd found! Do you know what this device is?" The bird hops around excitedly.
Kiyoko Tamahi |
Kiyoko performs a chibarui slash, sending a spray of blood (or whatever passed for blood in this poor sod) across the catwalk. She sheathes Reitenseiya and quickly rejoins the others on the ground floor. "This is the minotaur we were sent to find?" she asks the others.
GM Tyranius |
Abysiel’s chamber contains many of his ancient tools and earlier experiments in manipulating time. Among the salvageable items are an alchemist’s lab, masterwork artisan’s tools, a wand of magic missile (CL 3rd, 50 charges), and a wand of daze (50 charges).
Scattered throughout the room are a variety of coins brought here by the morlocks as offerings—there is 800 gp worth of coins.
The minotaur nods, "I am... Prince Nuar. Thank you. Thank you. I... owe you my life. Come, let us get out of this place. First, grab the hourglass." He motions to a large sand filled glass resting in the device.
He turns to Javon and manages a weak smile, "The best mazes are maddening. I, for one though, could use a comfortable rest..."
With Prince Nuar in tow, the trip out of the maze is FAR less stressful (and certainly safer!)
That is the end of this scenario, I hope you all enjoyed. If you have not already made your day job rolls then please do so in the discussion thread so that I can finish out the chronicles.
GM Tyranius |
The minotaur has few answers, but when you return to Grandmaster Torch, the pieces begin to fall into place. "The hourglass?! Do you have it?"
It doesn't take a diviner to notice he cares more about the hourglass than the health of the Prince. "This hourglass is a dangerous artifact. Izryen’s Hourglass dates from before the Starstone, when elves stood as the only civilized humanoids of Golarion. Izryen milled her hourglass from white jade and quartz, and filled it with the magic-steeped sands of the northern Garundi desert."
His eyes flicker as you explain to the Venture Captain what happened.
"The elf you encountered, I think, succumbed to it's powers, being stuck in time and space.... not alive, but undying. It is good that you brought this back."
Prince Nuar, for what it's worth remembers little about the Tangle, nor what led to his capture by the strange elf...
Conig |
Conig helps carry the gear they collected on his disk. He takes up the rear of their marching order on the way out to cover their flank.
----
Good times! Quite a synergistic group. Jahz, Conig really benefits from weapon song so much. Would love to follow you to another scenario is you're willing. GM Tyranius, thanks a bunch for running. Very, very smooth game.
Jahz the Wanderer |
Jahz once again tries to count the steps on the way up, but loses track somewhere in the hundreds as he tries to interject his own questions between those of the bird.
Aw, thanks Conig! Maybe there’s something for Outpost still open for two brave adventurers. And thanks for running GM Tyranius!
