Thanks again for your patience! Work has been something this week.
Great work on the circus performance. The anticipation in this town is capped, so just about time to move on to greener pastures--after you look into the remaining mysteries of Abberton, that is.
As a reminder, your last lead from the abbot wa that something strange was happening at the Erran Tower.

GM MattMorris |

I also neglected to give you some details, as they are in a different chapter. Frown.
Expect a letter from Harlock in a few hours.

GM MattMorris |

We're back in business. Sorry for the delay. My school went back to hybrid instruction this week, so it's been a real kick in the pants. I'm getting all caught up, though, so I expect I'll be able to stay caught up now.

Orm Blueleaf |

Indeed! I know it won't magically change anything, but definitely ready to put 2020 to bed.

Madame Papillon |

Apologies everyone! I was having trouble logging in, and only now have been able to get back after i figured out how to clear my coockies!

I started playing D&D in 1991 and this is the first bard I've ever rolled up. I did not know what I was missing. Enjoying the 2e bard immensely.

GM MattMorris |

Glad you're enjoying it Tim. I think they really nailed all the bard goodies in 2e.

Orm Blueleaf |

I think it's probably the best the bard has ever been. I've seen threads on paizo that seem to share a consensus that it is a top tier class for this edition.

GM MattMorris |

Grading and report cards done. I should be a more attentive GM for a while!

GM MattMorris |

Oh yeah, I'll be doing the chronicles. I got a lot of character ideas here.
As you might imagine, we're almost at the end of book 1.

Orm Blueleaf |

I just remembered Orm has a sweet relic ring. Matt, quick question. It reads that the DC is based on spell attack or class DC, so just wanted to clarify that Orm can us STR as the basis for that, or should he use WIS since he has ki powers and stuff the go off that (I think that's how it works).
Anyway, just a reminder to all about the rings.

Yeah, you can use the better of your spell or class DC, so if you want to use Strength, that's fine with me.

a. i totally forgot about the rings. do i have one? I'll go back and look later.
b. sorry about not posting. i've been looking at the site on my phone and it continued to show that there were no new posts. not sure why. I just randomly decided to log out and back in on my desktop or I would have continued to think there was nothing new :-(

GM MattMorris |

You folks each have a relic ring.
Crafter's Band
Aspects Shadow and ???
Gifts
Shadow Smith Activate Single Action Interact; Effect Your relic pulls at nearby shadows, twisting them into the shape of a simple weapon or a simple tool or item, such as a rope or crowbar. It lasts until it is used for a single activity, until you use shadow smith again, or for 1 minute, whichever comes first, after which it dissipates.
Letter of the Law
Aspects Mind and ???
Gifts
Linguistic Nexus Your relic grants you a powerful neural plasticity, and as a result, you can learn languages more easily. You learn an additional language of your choice for every 2 levels of the relic (minimum 1). You can retrain one of the languages from the relic with only a single week of downtime. Currently, it grants Utopian and Abyssal.
Howling Wind
Aspects Air and ???
Gifts
Feather Steps While wearing the relic, you do not trigger traps that use weight or pressure plates as a trigger. Also, whenever you fall, you reduce the falling damage by the level of the relic. If this would reduce the falling damage to 0, you land on your feet and are not prone. The relic grants a +1 item bonus to Athletics checks made to Jump, increasing to +2 at 9th level and +3 at 17th level.
Primordial Sea
Aspects Water and ???
Gifts
Tidal Crash Activate: Two Actions (command, envision); Frequency: once per day; Effect: Your relic spews forth a dense sphere of water. Make a spell attack roll against a target within 30 feet. On a success, you deal 2d10 bludgeoning damage plus 2 bludgeoning splash damage. At 3rd level and every 2 levels thereafter, increase the initial damage by 1d10 and the splash damage by 1.

GM MattMorris |

I'm going to start getting together the reporting and chronicle sheets for this. Could I get everyone's PFS number and the character number that you would like the chronicle applied to? You can basically apply it to any character to get 1 level's worth of XP.

Orm Blueleaf |

Ok, so there aren't levels for each sheet? If so I guess I'll just double down on the unused PC that I put Plaguestone on: 57774-2002 / Vetchkatosh / Grand Archive
Thanks, looking forward to getting to actually use him sometime.

GM MattMorris |

Would one of you mind botting Madame P? With the enemy on the ropes, I don't want to steal the group's thunder at a pivotal moment.

Orm Blueleaf |

I was all set to have her use sound burst, but then reconsidered as that might bring more attention than we want right now. Any ideas?

Orm Blueleaf |

I think she already used it at the start, so no more focus for it. I guess let's risk it with sound burst.

I'm planning out the next couple levels of my build and thinking about skill feats. I'm wondering whether I should take Lie to Me, since my deception score will be higher than my perception. As the party face it probably behooves me to know if I'm being bamboozled. What do you guys think? (I'm guessing as wisdom-focused classes your toons probably have good perception scores.)

![]() |

yeah, i've got a pretty solid perception i think - i'm still not totally sure what counts as "good" in 2.0, though. seems like being able to sniff things out on your own would make sense.

GM MattMorris |

Robyn and Jason are going to be joining us!
Robyn is planning on playing a shadow oracle/puppeteer.

Orm Blueleaf |

That's just the kind of heat I'd expect her to bring; I can only assume Jason will be devastated to learn that oracle is taken.

GM MattMorris |

Yes, truly unfortunate that there is no Stone oracle in 2e yet.
I do think there are lots of things for oracles to do, as usual.

Orm Blueleaf |

Not a huge deal, but I was thinking xulgath falls into stairwell (taking dmg and being prone a ways down) and then the attacks were against the big bird thing.
