Amazing! Nice work team. That resonant power if very cool!
One thing before we leave: I'd like to pilfer a dino egg or two. Could be a nice addition to the circus!
Matt, I don't know when I'll play PFS again for it to matter, but plans to report it and get a chronicle?

Orm Blueleaf |

Not 100% sure of my choices yet, but likely:
Add ancestry feat: Thorny Skin [ghoran feat, Con bonus dmg when hit with unarmed or natural attacks]
Stealth to Expert
Monk attacks to Expert
Perception to Expert
4 boosts: + 1 to STR; +2 to CON, WIS & INT

![]() |

Sweet. I'm bumping diplomacy up to Expert, getting 3rd level spells (probably haste and invisibility sphere) and taking the Unexpected Shift ancestry feat (25% chance of going out of phase whenever I get hit. Grants resistance to the triggering damage or a bonus on the save). I'm planning to play up the gnome/first world angle more than I have been.

Orm Blueleaf |

Cool stuff, Tim. I like the playing more into the first world angle.
Orm is up to date, and those are the things I updated. I took INT from 8 to 10, does that mean I gain a skill increase?
Do we have any details on our new oracles?

GM MattMorris |

Oracles update: I was a little unclear when I first invited Robyn, and she didn't realize it is a 2e game, so she is going to pass on this one.
Jason is just about done with his character, I think, and pretty ready to go.
Also, the excellent Andriod character builder that I use is getting a web version! pathbuilder2e.com. It is still in beta, but the app for it is awesome, so I have high hopes.

![]() |

I have a related question to Brian's before I finalize everything. Assuming that one gets a skill increase or new skill to be trained in for upping one's int. If I did that and trained a new skill, could I use my skill increase on that skill to make it expert?

Orm Blueleaf |

Glad to hear pathbuilder is coming to web. With every number changing every level up, I need something to make it easier.

Just checked on this:
-If you increase your Intelligence modifier, you do get an additional skill trained.-You can use your skill increase to bump up that new skill.

Working on treasure summary from the tower. Matt, should we split things 3 or 4 ways in terms of GP? I get if we should split 4 ways since that's the intent of the planned treasure.
What is our current ability to purchase stuff? I assume we are moving on from this town, and maybe headed somewhere bigger?
I think it makes sense to remove the runes from the armor and maul, sell those and then transfer the runes over. Sound right?
Here's what I have, let me know any reactions:
Dino eggs?? Not worried about value, but raising for circus
Use
bloodseeker beak = (Madame P)
fear gem (Madame P)
demon mask (Thelonious)
lesser elixir of life (Orm?)
wand of heal (2nd) [Thelonious]
+1 striking rune from maul [Matt, could I put these towards handwraps of might blows? How would that work? If folks would be ok with me doing that.]
+1 armor from full plate rune
dose of cytillesh oil/ dose of belladonna [Sell? Any use to anyone?]
wooden religious symbol of Zevgavizeb [Any value?]
Sell
Maul sold for 1.5 gp
full plate (sell, but take the rune off?) full plate sold w/o rune = halved is 15 gp
four tiny emeralds worth 15 gp each = 60 gp
elegant clothing worth 16 gp
golden statuette of a flying fish worth 11 gp.
Four matching crystal vials in a velvet-lined case are worth 4 gp each = 16 gp
six silk pillows worth 2 gp each = 12 gp
scale mail = 4 gp, halved is 2 gp
Total above = 133.5; split 4 ways = 33 gold, 4 silver each // 44.5 gold split 3 ways

I believe I am all leveled up.
Mostly i'm now hoping for a crit with my bow when someone is next to a wall so i can use the crit special "skewer" effect :-)
other than that, nothing too crazy. better attacks. boulder roll feat to shove people around and bludgeon them with my body - just sounded fun on the very rare occasions it might be useful. my Nature for medicine rolls is now +13.

GM MattMorris |

Thanks so much for going through that, Brian. You all can split the treasure 3 ways. (Especially considering that the dino eggs are quite valuable and you are planning on keeping them.)
I assume that you are going to ask the circus to move on to a larger venue--the prime location on the isle of Eran would be Escadar, which is a bit of a city. (You should be able to purchase anything that is level-appropriate there, and there would be a market for your goods.)
You can transfer the runes from the weapons and armor with Craft. The weapon runes can get transferred to handwraps. You can also put armor runes are your clothes, if you want to go that directions.
Weapon Potency Rune +1 (Lvl 2, DC 16, 3.5gp), Striking (Lvl 4, DC 19, 6.5gp)
Armor Potency Rune (Lvl 5, DC 20, 16gp)
It's supposed to take a day for every rune you move, but I think you could transfer all of the runes from one weapon to another in a day. Is anyone very interested in Crafting? I might just make a houserule about transferring the runes if no one really cares about it.

GM MattMorris |

Okay, I'm going to say that you can move runes by either:
1) Making the Craft check yourself. This doesn't cost any money, only time.
2) Paying someone 10% of the price of the rune to etch it for you. You have to be in a settlement where you could buy that level of rune to do this.
Escadar is a decent-sized city, so I think you could get good up to 9th level or so there. (You should probably stick to items close to your level for purchasing.)

Orm Blueleaf |

Man, I really don't know how to shop in 2E. Aside from needing those runic upgrades, I just don't know what to invest in. Like in 1E by now I'd be saying we need a handy haversack, cloak of resistance, ring of prot, etc., and utility items like oil of daylight and stuff for swarms. Any ideas or insight from anyone (and by anyone I mean Matt or Tim).

GM MattMorris |

There's not really much required stuff any more. I would say maybe look for an item that gives an item bonus to a skill. Other than that, you can just get fun stuff.

![]() |

Same. Staves and wands are good buys for casters and weapon and armor runes seem compulsory for martials. But idk what a monk would want. Apart from a barbarian this is the farthest I've gotten a pc.

![]() |

Brian or Alex, can either of you spare 5.5 gp? No biggie if you can't but I can almost afford a mask that will boost my Perform checks.

![]() |

Thelonious buys a sweet theatrical pale white mask of a sad face. A single, blood red tear drips from its right eye.
Isn't this face just divine, you guys?! I'm gonna call this my diplomacy face.
Beneath his top hat, which is belted with a string of chicken bones, it actually looks pretty scary.

Orm Blueleaf |

Nice! I spent almost everything on a Lifting Belt, which gives Orm +1 to Athletics (which helps with some combat maneuvers), increases Bulk carrying capacity, and seemed thematically appropriate in terms of using it while helping to set up the tent, unload wagons and such.

![]() |

What do you guys think about Haste in 2e? I played with it over the weekend, and while the extra attack sounds nice in theory, your multiple attack penalty applies to the extra swing.
Unless you can talk me out of it, I'll probably take something else here at 5th level. Melee guys, what is your plan for hitting incorporeal stuff? I could learn Ghostly Weapon. Also looking at Familiar's Face for scouting.
Matt, this is assuming you're ok with me switching up a spell at this early stage.

GM MattMorris |

Oh yeah, no problem with that.
I think haste really only pays off for fighters and somewhat for flurry rangers. So, it could be okay to cast on Derrikk, but I think it's definitely not an auto-pick any more.

Orm Blueleaf |

Just a refresher, I knew we had learned something that lead us to Escadar, and I went back to find it. In the succubus' stuff we found the following" "she’s working for more powerful xulgaths—whom Balenni doesn’t know—in an abandoned temple underneath Escadar called Moonstone Hall." Hence my question to the constable, but figure we should suss things out before just blurting out about xulgaths under the town.

GM MattMorris |

Jason, when you get a chance can you fill out this slide?
If you want to make a profile for your character and copy your character sheet into it on the forums, that alsocan make things a little faster for me. The format doesn't need to be fancy--I just copy over from pathbuilder.

Orm Blueleaf |

I know things are nuts for Jason - Bot him? I'd make a suggestion but no character sheet. Matt, you have ideas? Or just delay?

GM MattMorris |

Sorry all - busy day. Will try to get loot recap out tomorrow.
You're a champ, Brian. Thanks for doing that.

Orm Blueleaf |

Reminder from book 1, last divvy was 44.5 gold apiece, plus other loot, including a wand of heal that Thelonious has. It’s an older entry here in discussions section, date April 16, 2021.
Start of Book 2: Gettting camp safe
Clearing: Invisibility potion and 14 gp
In cave at camp: clandestine cloak, infiltrator thieves’ tools, infiltrator picks, and eight garnets worth 10 gp each. Journal for Paldreen; bag of holding I; dust of appearance. The bag also holds a lesser elixir of life and a silver lensatic compass (worth 30 gp) engraved with the words “Always find your way back to me.”
So assuming we sell the garnets, but keep everything else, that’d be 94 gp of gold. Collectively buy the items Thelonious suggested for routine problems (Tim, I’ll let you be in charge of the shopping) and then we split the remainder?
While in town, can we also swing by and give Paldreen the thief's journal we found? I had a note we thought that would be a good idea.

![]() |

That sounds good to me. Sorry to punt the bookkeeping to you, Brian. You're always so on top of it, I just assumed you were keeping a running tally!
Two scrolls of glitterdust would cost 24 gp. So, after them we'd have 70 to split 4 ways or 17.5 apiece.
Alex, I owe you 5.5 from a previous purchase.

Orm Blueleaf |

No worries, it turns out I mostly had. Happy to do it. That sounds good, unless there are some other utility items we should get; I just don't know 2E well enough to know the things we'd need, like oil of daylight in 1E.

![]() |

we actually might want to invest in some of that. my only experience with 2e so far suggests that we need to deal with invis (will o wisps in PFS. ouch.)

GM MattMorris |

I'll type up a brief refresher on circus shows this weekend.
Fizzle is a new performer, and his DCs, skills, and trick are on the Slide.
He can also teach you the Alchemical trait, but I don't think that necessarily helps any of your current tricks.
Way to stick it out through that wisp fight. Concealment is one of my least favorite things to deal with on PBP.

Orm Blueleaf |

Level 6 - woot. Once everyone has a chance to level, please share some of the good stuff you got.
Anyone want the "Eye" with the stone?

GM MattMorris |

You all are in for a treat, I think. I've really been enjoying playing at mid-levels with 2nd edition.

![]() |

I'm not sure what Junebug is going to get at level 6. I was keen to take the familiar master archetype and build out a minion, but then I played PFS with a bard who had the Hymn of Healing. It just appeals to my clericky tendencies too much to resist! So, I think I'll be going for that, and later, Harmonize.

GM MattMorris |

Sorry I haven't been on the ball with these circus reminders. Hope to write it up tonight.
No worries Tim. I feel that in my soul.

![]() |

I took Hymn of Healing for a bard feat, and Bon Mot for a skill feat. I think TJ needed some offensive options so I took Agonizing Despair as my new spell and swapped out Familiar's Face for Paralyze.
I think Bon Mot would be a good way to set up a one-two with spells that target Will saves.

![]() |

sorry i've been so out of it of late (even for me). Jenny's essentially full time again, so it's taking us a bit to adjust (or not) :-)
I'll try to level up soon - feat wise, Adora and cellery will be maturing. not sure about skill feat though.

![]() |

Dude, I'm completely swamped. I'm getting to my games once or twice a week and feeling terrible about it. Things will probably be this way for me until the end of the year. Sorry guys! I'm doing my best!
