Houserule Alert: I've decided that in the home games I'm running critical failures on stabilization checks will only count as failures. The rules as written are a bit to deadly for my taste. (Hopefully it won't come up in this fight!)

Hey, so going by the rule book, when we level up we:

"Increase all of your proficiency bonuses by 1 from your new level, and make other increases to your proficiency bonuses as necessary from skill increases or other class features."

Does this mean everything I have a proficiency in goes up by 1 each time we level up? I was not accounting for this at all haha, so I will make the changes now.

Yes, that's correct. You always add your level to things that you are trained (or better) in. That includes things we might not have thought of, like spell DCs and Armor Class.

Only have a moment to post some things I don't want to lose sight of before I have time to compose more:

-Can someone check out the necklace the quasit had on?
-Can someone who knows more religion stuff point out that the buff demon has a Gozreh symbol on him or on his clothes or whatever it was?
- I think we should check the crypt out back before heading to the orchard (and after that I think we may need to return to camp and rest. Those were two intense fights. 2E is deadly!
- Regarding the bracelet: I get a +10 movement speed next level, so how about I use it for now, but then can pass along to Derrick once I get that boost at 3rd?
- I'm fine with Junebug taking the dog idol
- Can someone id or we can ask priest about the ring so we know who can best benefit?

These are just what I could gather and suggestions, but not written in stone of course:

Need ID: Feather from halfing’s camp. If M. Papillon can’t do it, maybe priest could?

Sell when we can?: +1 sickle

Who wants?: potency crystal from Grigs. I can’t use it. Derrick or M. Papillon?

What we have:
We each got a holy water from the Abadarian priest
Orm: bracelet of dashing for now
Madame Papillon: angel pendant
Theolonius: dog statue when we return books
Ring when we return books remains a mystery

We have 1 remaining minor elixir of life. I don’t know that we ever clarified who had it, but we should since it could be relevant in combat.

Yeah, you can sell stuff up to level 4 or so. Don't forget that you can also transfer the potency rune from it to one of your weapons. It would be 3.5 gp and take a DC 16 Crafting check. It takes "1 Day," but if you decided to do it after visiting the church, you would have enough time.

There is not a ton of magic equipment in the town, but you might be able to find some.

Matt, so Aid is normally DC 20 right, and a crit fail means actually harming the roll instead of helping? But it says GM sets the DC, so . . . is a 20 what we need. That will determine if I try to help or not.

Why can't I figure out how to throw an alchemist's fire in 2E?

1) What is my proficiency with such alchemical bombs? Untrained? So only Dex to attack?

2) Same deal as 1e where I can target a square intersection or try to hit the creature? Because if I'm untrained that seems the way to go.

Alchemical bombs are martial weapons. If you throw them and miss, you will automatically do the splash damage.

Possible plan: I have a lesser smokestick. I'm wondering if we get that down to keep them at bay a bit, and then just run inside and shut the door. We could do that w/o the smoke I guess. This seems like a good plan, especially if Derrick hits it and some persistent damage gets going, it could just slowly burn while we investigate. Just putting it out there as a possibility. I don't know if anyone else has AoE powers. I know Thelonious can't have that many more in him.

I've lost the thread on what is happening poison-wise. I didn't see either Thel or Papillon use a guidance from me, so that is available. I'm not trained in Medicine so can't help in another way that I know of. Does the poison keep going until saves are made or is it a # of rounds? Maybe that's too much meta-knowledge. Just seems like we are about to have two people die so want to see what else I or Derrick can be doing as I'm not clear on 2E rules around this.

Not being at a table had me kind of blank on what was going on for others as well, so if it's okay, I'll delay that treat wounds on myself until after I've tried to tend to our struggling partners in arms. Ok, so potion should bring Madame Papillon to conscious, and then from there we can get medicine/heal going. Just clarifying where we are with death and dying and poison.

So was just looking at Treat Wounds, and never noticed this sentence before: "If you succeed at your check, you can continue treating the target to grant additional healing. If you treat them for a total of 1 hour, double the Hit Points they regain from Treat Wounds." So if Madame P keeps treating herself, and then Derrick tries and succeeds and then treats Junebug for an hour, maybe we'll be in good shape?

never noticed that either. I like it. keeps the downtime requirement but gives you two heals with one check. seems like a nice middle ground.

Yeah, and at higher levels you have to balance losing a buff that is running with the need to heal - that plus obvious time-sensitive clocks running makes it feel like a good compromise since there are no more 50 charge wands of CLW.

No worries. One other SOP question - in situations like this, I always want to wait in case Thelonious casts inspire courage. Can we apply that retroactively if he does cast it usually? I guess the danger is metagaming whether or not to do it based on what has transpired, but I hate to slow the game down. +1 one can be such a help!
