Hey, this AP was just sanctioned, and we are actually quite close to finishing the first book!
If you would like to apply credit to a PFS character (which you don't have to), do start thinking about which PC you want to receive the chronicle. Unlike first edition AP sanctioning, you can apply the credit to any PC regardless of level.
There are some fun options that open up for the PC who gets the credit, so I'm including the text here in spoilers. I have no problem with anyone deciding which PC gets the credit based on the boons.
circus. Check the box next to one of the following options and cross the other off your Chronicle Sheet.
▫ Juggler Training: You gain access to the Juggler archetype and its associated feats. If you take Juggler
Dedication, you gain the Juggler skill feat.
▫ Acrobat Training: You gain access to the Staff Acrobat archetype and its associated feats.
Snare Training: If you have the Snare Crafting feat or can otherwise Craft Snares, you gain access to the
following Snares: Dust Pods, Thunder Snare, Grasping Tree, Torrent Snare, Fang Snare.
One With Nature: You gain access to the following environmental spells: breath of drought, personal rain
cloud, rime slick, scouring sand, sea surge, sudden bolt, unseasonable squall, and verdant sprout.
Expanded Summoning: You have access to the following monsters to summon with the appropriate
summoning spells: flea swarm, giant flea, luminous ooze, mechanical carny, and vermlek.
Shoony Ancestry: You qualify to purchase a boon with Achievement Points that allows you to play a
character from the Rare shoony ancestry. If you apply this Chronicle Sheet to a new character (or a character
who has not yet played in a game with 12 or more XP), the character is eligible to purchase a discounted
Achievement Point boon to select the shoony ancestry (limit 1 discounted shoony boon per player) To
redeem Achievement Points, go to paizo.com/organizedPlay/myAccount and click on the Boons tab

Niksi Drugova wrote:@All don't forget Niksi's song applies to saves too! Thanks for the reminder. No, it’s not something I have experience with so it’s good to have it pointed out. Thanks. Hard to remember what my yahoo can do let alone everyone elses.
Mukluk might not be sickened, able to hold his nose just in time.
I consider reminding people of my buffs part of playing a bard, so no problem! I know we are all hazy on the new system, too, so reminders are good. I actually know bonuses by heart so well in first edition that I can even keep track of *everyone's* buffs (and can catch cheaters in PFS, but that's another story). The perfect storm of playing 3.X systems for 20 years and being autistic. I'm actually playing a bard in a Legacy of Fire game over VTT with a bunch of new players and I am basically the party bonuses-rememberer. I like doing it, too, so it's no trouble!

GM Kate |

All right, Niksi gets a hero point for that description, which is definitely the next Cirque de Soleil!

Niksi Drugova |

Thank you so much <3
I can’t take full credit for the idea, as the slowly descending moon, happy mask instrument salesperson and ocarina that turns back time were taken from The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask, but that game just has such a great Niksi-esque oddness to it that it just seemed to perfect to not reference, given all the parallels.

So Balenni is a succubus! Some of their abilities are kind of icky, so I will be playing things down. If something does make you uncomfortable, please let me know.
Importantly, you take penalties from her aura if you are attracted to her. There is a picture of her current appearance on Slide 2, and it is completely up to you whether your character is attracted to her in this form. I will make no assumptions.

I don't think she's moon-faced enough for Rova. (Hmm, I haven't actually thought about Rova's sexuality at all, to be honest. I think she was more excited about concerned with the end of the world to worry about romance...)

Rova Moonbright |

I can take it, but I'm not trained in Intimidation (and already struggle to have enough actions). Might make more sense for someone else to take it.
Maybe Mukluk? You and Balenni shared a moment after all, and you could potentially Demoralize someone instead of using a third attack at full MAP. Scaring them into stop fighting?

Mukluk Muletender |

I think I’m going to let Mukluk go here. Not only was that last crit a complete thrashing, and with the nat 1 save, it’s clear that Mukluk isn’t long for this world. I know he could be saved, but no...this is it for the old gladiator.
I’ve tried, but just can’t find the mechanical love for 2e. I find myself frustrated what I wish I had rather than the obvious gifts of the system.
I’m going to politely let Mukluk go to the Dwarven beer halls of Nirvana and allow you all to find another clown to take his place.

It was an absolute joy to GM for Mukluk as a character, and for you as a player, Painlord, but life is too short to spend time on a game that isn't fun, and I totally understand. This was the end of Book 1, so it's actually a good point to bring in someone new.
For everyone else, there's a little bit of wrap-up and I imagine your characters will want to pay respects to Mukluk, but that was the final encounter of the book. If you would like to receive Society credit for this adventure, please give me the character name, number, level and starting XP, and faction that you want the chronicle applied to. (I will let you deal with Earn Income yourselves, especially as you might be applying this to a new PC. You receive 24 days of downtime, but you apply it in three chunks of eight days, and you can level up in between two chunks. This is also why I need starting XP, since the total gold earned gets applied the same way.)

Niksi Drugova |

I’m sorry to hear that you are going, Mukluk/Painlord. It was lovely gaming with you for the first time and I’m sorry to hear 2E just is not working out for you. I completely understand and respect your decision.
And I’ll send you that info, Kate, within the next couple days

I'll miss Mukluk. As all your characters, he was a lot of fun. Glad I still get to play with you in another game, at least until I kill Tristain in retribution for abandoning us.
I'll also send you that info Kate in a little bit. I'm still trying to think of a good storm druid concept I like, but I think it's starting to come together.
Also, especially since we're ending Book 1, I may not be posting super often this week, as my wife is home for Thanksgiving.

Corkas 'Prism' Warfiz |

Sorry to hear that Mukmuk. Hopefully 2e continues to tweak and add enough to shape it into what you are looking to in the future.
Character Name: Fearful Berry
Character Number: 829-2008
Level: 3
XP: 25
Faction: Vigilant Seal
Earn Income (Abyssal Lore): 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (18) + 4 = 22
Earn Income (Abyssal Lore): 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (5) + 4 = 9
Earn Income (Abyssal Lore): 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 4 = 6

GM Kate |

Oh, no worries Jacob, we won't move forward substantially until after Thanksgiving week.

Yes, sorry. I’ve failed to find much joy in Mukluk’s mechanics. Please someone, take care of Moose, his beloved mule.
But also, I do take delight in when I say things like ’allow you all to find another clown to take his place,’ because I’m not even being facetious with the word ‘clown’. :)
Thankfully, I have other games with each and every one of you and will probably give you many future opportunities to regret playing with me.

Rova Moonbright |

Just noticed this while I was working on something. Not sure we've had that many instances where it's taken an hour of treatment, or if Kate's already accounting for it, but one of those things I know I wasn't really aware of:
If you succeed at your (Medicine) check, you can continue treating the target to grant additional healing. If you treat them for a total of 1 hour, double the Hit Points they regain from Treat Wounds.

GM Kate |

I definitely should have had Mukluk doing that! Rova can do a check every ten minutes, so she's better off doing that.

Yes, we'll have to get a new player (or even two). I have pinged someone, but as I'm waiting to hear back, please send me suggestions! (Through whatever private communication methods we have, rather than here, please.)

I'm starting a new position today so I might be slow to post, but I wanted to say that I'm cool with making the circus performance bit less structured.
It will definitely require some tweaking, both to adjust for losing Mukluk and to bring in the rest of the acts, but I would suggest we could try out the show structure that Niksi suggested, if that's all right with everyone else :D

Rova Moonbright |

I'm fine with that. I like the idea of the subsystems, but I think they're something that works better at live tables. You can talk more easily, and those decisions can often be made between sessions, which you don't really have in PBP.

Chronicle Sheets for Book 1 are here!
The game has also been reported.

GM Kate |

Just to nudge things along, the slide on Page 9 can help you plan out the show. I'm open to a different number of performers during each act, but it's at least a starting point!

Corkas 'Prism' Warfiz |

So looks like we need something that looks like this?
Opener:
1. Prism
Build-Up:
1. Prism
2. Niksi
Big Number:
1. Rova
Finale:
1. Prism
2. Niksi
3. Rova

Corkas 'Prism' Warfiz |

I forgot all about them. Something like this?
Opener:
1. Prism
Build-Up:
1. Rova
2. Eliza and Mr. Tickles
Big Number:
1. Dwarven Throwers (Tribute to Mukluk)
Finale:
1. Flamboni Sisters
2. Niksi
3. Mordaine the Magician

GM Kate |

I figured we could do the circus part with the group we have! Once we have a new player, I'll talk to them about how to introduce their character. (It might make sense for them to be from the next city you go to, for instance.)
