7 rounds, sure. The only thing is, the damage from being in the wolf's belly would likely have brought Mirtha to dying. Can you hold your breath while you're unconscious? I've always read that as taking a conscious effort.
Mirtha wipes the blood and wolf saliva off her garments. "That fiend tried to eat me! Curse this forest and its rotten inhabitants!" The gnomes tosses a bolt of bright orange flame at the wolf to ensure that it does not get back up.

Mingxia tends to Conso’s wounds with her medical knowledge and adds a little healing from Shelyn. Everyone is healed.
Over the rest of the day the group continues to descend the mountain into the area where Bark said the orc camp could be found.
As a group the pathfinders do well moving through the environment and foraging for food.
Approaching the orc camp with caution, you can see that their numbers are less than expected and many of them are heavily wounded.
If you approach without weapons drawn and peacefully, the orcs will allow you to enter the camp. A Muddy footpath runs amongst the tents setup between the walls of a ruined building. Carefully tended campfires emit only faint smoke.
A heavily scarred woman with a broken tusk, steps forward as the leader of this orc band. With confidence she asks in common ”I am Grakcha. What is your business here?” The other orcs gather warily behind her.
(if anyone wishes to hide while the main group approaches, let me know.)

"Ahoy, Noble warriors! You speak Common? We do have a half blood among us who speaks Orcish if you would prefer talking in your own tongue. We're with the Pathfinder Society on a mission to bring trade through these mountains. Your tribe will benefit from the trade if you are willing to let them pass through your lands safely. Can we come into your camp to talk?"

Teneb stands tall, in front of the group and addresses the orcs.
"We are here for an expedition. We have been asked to determine the difficulty to pass over the Menador Mountains. It is not our business but that of our employers. We need to ensure that travel by caravan for a potential trade route is viable, and does not disturb locals such as yourselves.
If you have a community who would benefit from goods from either Druma or Isger, it would benefit you greatly. Since we are defining the route, we can also suggest that the route goes in such a way which benefits your settlement."

Mirtha takes the lead in speaking with the orcs telling them about their mission to bring trade through the mountains.
Grakcha seems to warm to the idea and is interested, ”Yes regular trade would benefit my tribe.” but they still seem to be on edge about something.
Raznik fades into the shadows around the orc’s camp.
Mingxia offers to try and fix Conso’s shield if she had a repair kit.
Teneb joins Mirtha in negotiations with the orcs reassuring them.
Conso keeps back and chats with Mingxia about his shield.
Lux is wary around the orcs and hangs back with Conso and Mingxia.
The heavily scarred orc woman seems to relax as she senses an opportunity. She tells you reluctantly ” We are unable to promise safe passage for your trade caravans through the pass, because our home cave has been invaded by an angry ogre. We are in no shape to drive him out of our territory and he would likely attack any trade caravan passing through the area as he has hunted us. If you kill the ogre, I promise to let the caravans pass and set up trade with them. Do we have a deal?”

Maintaining his strong stance, Teneb gestures in agreement "The organisation we represent is very capable in this regard. We shall slay this ogre and return your home to you. If you can supply any directions to this cave, and knowledge you have of the best we can get to the job."
Turning to the expedition, he focusses on our ranger Ranzik "Will you get us safely to this cave? We must go to battle."
And with that, once we get the details, the crew will head towards the annexed cave.

"Our warriors have already slain the vile warg that once haunted these woods and drove off the rest of his pack. A lone ogre should be something that our group will handle with ease. We will slay this foul brute and make these woods safer for orc and trader alike."

![]() |

Teneb steps up and volunteers the group to slay the ogre asking only for directions to the cave and for Ranzik to guide them there.
Mirtha agrees suggesting the ogre should be easy to slay.
Conso nods his consent.
Grakcha smiles with her broken tusk, ” Good agreed!” She gives you directions to the clans home cave.
It’s a day’s travel from the orc camp to the cave and Ranzik is able to guide the group to the cave without trouble. As you near the cave there are several well-traveled paths, outside the cave entrance you find several animal carcasses, which have attracted a large swarm of black flies. The stench is only just bearable.
Before entering the cavern you can man any preparations you wish. It has been more than a day since the battle with the warg.
As you enter the dim cave the smell in this low‑ceilinged chamber is nearly suffocating. The stench of rotten meat wafts in from outside, and the smell of excrement comes in through the tunnel to the right. Shelves and racks that once held equipment now lie smashed on the ground. Other tunnels exit from the chamber.
The ogre has made a mess of the entranceway to the cave complex. Most of the equipment has been smashed, but Tebeb and Mirtha notice an undamaged onyx pather talisman laying in the mess.
The room to the right was once a storeroom, apparently for leftover crates and bales, but has been recently and regularly used as a latrine.

Lux grows quiet again as they get closer to the ogre's cage. "So... I can understand that dealing with the ogres was a good way to get the orcs on our side. And that will surely count for something for the trade route we're charting. But... But... an ogre?" She looks worried. "We dealt with the warg and wolves pretty well, but Mirtha could have ended up as warg food back there. And... well... it's an ogre!" Ozul senses her distress and nuzzles up to her legs as they walk.

Conso leads the way into the cave with his sword and shields out.
Avoiding the foul-smelling cavern to the left the group continues deeper into the cavern finding another chamber that has been turned into a makeshift bedroom. Beds have been pulled from elsewhere in the cave and pushed together to form one large misshapen sleeping place. The beds have collapsed and now lean haphazardly against each other. The blankets and pillows are filthy and fly buzz about.
Continuing on the group enters a large chamber with a massive pile of refuse lying in the middle of the room. Animal parts and partially eaten fruit and vegetables make up most of the pile and flies lazily buzz around the perimeter.
Currently distracted with his latest meal, a boar carcass, the ogre sits with his back to the refuse pile, casually leaning on it.

*** Combat Over ***
The orc cave is cleared of foes, though it is quite a filthy mess. Searching around you find bodies of the orcs that were slain before. The metal in their gear has started to rust and the leather to rot. Two other bodies also lie in the pile. They are half eaten, but most likely human. One of the bodies still wears a pair of gold earrings set with gems, the other a set of silver bracelets. In the bedroom you find a pile of copper and silver coins of Chelaxian, Isgeri, Druman, and Molthuni denominations.
Returning to the orc camp, the orcs are happy that they can return to their home. Your group receives a lot of heavy congratulatory pats on the back, and the orcs invite you to spend the night to have a good feast.
If you accept the orcs scrounge up several bottles of strong alcohol, and the group sings rowdy songs deep into the night. Grakcha promises she and her band will leave any caravan coming through their territory in peace. She swears this on her ancestors, a promise she cannot break without dooming herself and her band.
The remainder of your trip to Molthune, and its capital Canorate, is uneventful. You do find the Chelazian nobles you helped weeks ago in town, they are extremely grateful for the help realizing that without your help, they might have died on the mountain. They reward your group with a magical animal staff.
Your group has fulfilled the primary and secondary objective of making across the mountains and to Conorate having documented the route. It takes the Chelaxian officials quite a bit of time to go through the best submission and sending teams of their own to travel the routes, but in the end the Pathfinder’s route is deemed the best!
In addition the Horizon Hunters faction prides themselves on being explorers, hear of you deeds in crossing the mountain and helping out the young nobles, earning everyone additional fame with them.
This completes the adventure. I’ve had a great time GMing for this group! I’ll get the chronicles sheets posted by this weekend. Also, I’ll be starting another adventure soon and will post the link to the signup sheet shortly you are all welcome to join.
