Hey GM: a couple of questions...
Following helpful advice, I will be taking an Occultist dip at third for Castinus. I'll get to stat this up tomorrow- is this delay ok?
Second, a question on the Tapestry and its denizens. Since the inhabitants were brought there by Hoa Jin from other planes, is it fair to say they are all non-native for the purpose of 'Planar Ward' ?

Fiata here. Just wondering which character to play. I am leaning toward this magus. I know he would be out of tier. Also have a kinetesist or a shamat (both 4th level).

Obviously yes to the first question, since it looks like you've got Castinus updated.
As to the Second, that is an interesting question. As with the folks at Naldak's point, they were moved into the Tapestry long enough ago that the original people taken have died off. Because their descendants were born int he Tapestry, they are actually Natives to the Tapestry and things like 'Planar Ward' don't work on them.
Now...a bunch of Apsis goons who've inhabited a temple within the tapestry and just got there...

I'm good with this Magus. Ichio's 5th level now and I know Bocke's replacement character is also 5th.
Quensha's playing a 4th level pregen.
With Castinus and Kal at 3rd and your character at 7th, that gives us an APL of 4.5 so we're still in the lower subtier. It would be exactly 4 if you played your 4th level so no real difference, other than Izlin may not feel particularly challenged with this adventure.
Also, I'm playing a Mindblade Magus who's going to multiclass into an Occultist and, quite honestly, I can't figure out how the rules work, exactly so seeing someone else do it would be good for me.

Diazepane has Use Magic Device and a wand of CLW for out of conbat healing. If someone else has CLW we should be able to revive people in emergencies. He also saves a 2nd level extract slot and can prepare Lesser Restoration (out of combat).
Kyra is always welcome but I think you should have the freedom to play whatever you want.

EbonFist |

I agree with he-who-is-no-longer-Bocke.
Healing is always useful but you should definitely play someone that interests you and there are enough CLW wands floating around to work in an emergency.

![]() |

I count 3 wands of CLW and 2 wands of IH on character sheets. I'm not sure what the rules are regarding the goody two-shoes anointing themselves with unholy water / demon blood but it seems like we don't have any problem with healing either way.

EbonFist |

I don't think we have any goody two shoes in this group. At least no one who would protest being anointed in demon blood if it would heal them.

EbonFist |

Ok...that's settled, you have a reliable way of healing. And we'll be skipping what Crowe does to the corpses (though feel free to PM me with details.)
I was partially waiting on that determination before pushing forward, but I want to give Ichio a chance to chime in before we get going, too.
I like to keep a good pace, though so if there's not a post form him by tomorrow morning, I'll go ahead and push the story forward into the Tapestry.
And the Maps and Slides are up. Please put in your Init and Percep on the first one. I left the values in for the 3 folks coming back, but you may/probably need to update them.
Everyone else, get in where you fit in.

Crowe Elberion |

Oh, it's mostly leaving them in the mud, maybe a bit of micturating on them.
But, if he needs to harvest some of their blood for healing? Sure. Why not. He knows people who eat the hearts of their enemies to claim their power, after all.

I'm GMing a new PbP game and wanted to know if anyone here was interested. The scenario is 4-09, The Blakros Matrimony, and will preferably be run high tier (6-7). There are 5 open slots, and you can PM me (Watery Soup) for details. In case all 6 of you are interested, I will roll a d6, assigning you numbers in the order I was PMed.

![]() |

Alas, I have already played that one. It's a fun one to be certain.

Sorry - I don't have a character for that tie, and prefer not to play pre-gens. Thanks for the offer though.

Excellent! I just finished an adventure with my 6th level character and am eager to get him into another.
I'll take a seat!
I really like that you color coded your map in What the Helms Hide, btw. That makes things so much more obvious and simple when people are talking about where they want to go.

![]() |

I learn from my mistakes! I GMed it live and used some white paper to cover sections, thinking we'd use cardinal directions to refer to passageways. People got confused and I had to draw a compass on the map, but it was still difficult, and not everyone could reach every part od the map because the table was large. I was going to put a number on each square but couldn't figure out a good way to do it on Google Docs so I just used the colors.
Aside from the monetary issues, GMing evergreen scenarios appeals to me because I can do it better the second time I GM! :)

EbonFist |

I learned the hard way that the easiest way to do numbers on a box is to just do a text box with the number then fill in the background with the color. For a while I was doing a box then the text box over top but then you're manipulating 2 objects instead of 1.

Sorry guys, I ran two marathon sessions this weekend (Friday and Saturday night) in addition to working... I'll catch up lickity split

EbonFist |

No problem. I assume posting is going to slow down (or halt entirely) over the weekends.
I'm usually not able to do much those 2 days each week so I'm not going to hold anyone else to a higher standard.

EbonFist |

Something I found interesting: I just finished a game that I started back on March 11th.
The Icebound Outpost (the first of the Hao Jin Tapestry games I ran) started on March 22nd.
Storming the Diamond Gate is the 6th Hao Jin Tapestry game I'm running.
Thanks to those of you who have been with me from the beginning and everyone who's jumped in since and thanks to you all for being quick, consistent and interesting posters.

![]() |

Agreed. These are among the very best pbp's that I have been fortunate to be a part of on the boards.

EbonFist |

That's probably my last post until Thursday.
Happy Holidays, everyone.
May your sweets be treats and your family be friendly (or your friends be family.)

![]() |

Merry Christmas guys !
It's been a pleasure playing with you in 2019 and I look forward to more in 2020 !

![]() |

Well it's 1:30am here in England so I can now wish you American colonials a Happy New Year ! May the new decade bring you health, happiness and natural 20s in all you do!

![]() |

Many thanks Castinus. Exactly 9PM PST here, so a few hours to go. Hope everyone has a safe New Year and a wonderfully rewarding decade to come.

EbonFist |

I like it! It's just the kind of thing my rogue would do. Right before he jumped off the edge of the other plateau to the floor before (but I wouldn't suggest that for anyone who can't fly, levitate or glide.)

![]() |

Wait, are you leaving for an in-game reason or a life reason? I thought something came up.
If you crit failed a jump check, (1) I believe there are ways to reroll, and (2) even if you can't reroll, a 100' drop is "only" 9d6, which could very well roll out to be less than 31. Diazepane will be able to fly and move next turn, and then the next round he can fly and stabilize.

You shouldn't read things marked 'spoiler'. And, don't worry about Castinus; worry about the enemy in front of you.
Thanks for the concern; all is well here.

Then, teetering at the edge of the chasm, he attempts a ref save to grab the edge:ref: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (10) + 10 = 20

Most of the interpretations that I have seen regarding wands and bloodrage are that you can use them while raging.
While bloodraging, a bloodrager cannot use any Charisma-, Dexterity-, or Intelligence-based skills (except Acrobatics, Fly, Intimidate, and Ride) or any ability that requires patience or concentration.
Spell trigger activation is similar to spell completion, but it’s even simpler. No gestures or spell finishing is needed, just a special knowledge of spellcasting that an appropriate character would know, and a single word that must be spoken.
Regardless, the HP reflected show Kal while raging.
-18 Fireball
-8 Arrow
-6 Green Claw
-39 total
+2 Fast healing
Total -37 (6/43)
If rage does drop to use a wand, then kal wouldnt have done that- since it would have dropped him below 0 (and dropping rage now would do the same)

EbonFist |

Ok, guys. That's all but the wrap up. Feel free to play out as much as you like.
Please post the below information so that I can work up the chronicle sheets -
Your name (as you want it on the chronicle):
Your character's name:
Your PFS #:
Your Faction:
Your Day Job:
Also, let me know if you're interested in the next adventure.
That'll be #4-21 Way of the Kirin.
Tofaang reached out to me by PM to get back in so we'll be adding him back into the mix.
